Yeah, first contemplated the system 1 when it came out but passed on it. Now I got one today and it was sucha joy to just sit down and start tweaking it. INSTANT workability. Now, my knowledge of how synths work is greater now but this is really user friendly from the start. Perhaps I will run into other issues as I keep going but so far the impression is great, just a few minutes after unboxing it I could already see exactly how this would fit in to each of my projects.
so we system-1 owners have to purchase the system-1 plugin in order to access all the features? I have the other 3 plugins (SH101, SH-2, PROMARS) already, but I noticed in the video that it showed the system-1 plugin in logic. I don't see it in mine and I've updated already. So I'd have to purchase the System-1 plugin? Just making sure because I think it would be great as early purchasers of the System-1 that we owners get its plug in for free.
Can you guys please consider fixing the crusher, I think it's unusable. It's too harsh. Also, maybe add a beautiful chorus effect? As in legato hold to change the function of the crusher. Would make the system 1 sooo much better. Also, this is a digital synth, can you guys please add more voices? At least give us 6 voices. This would be an amazing update for all us System 1 owners. I absolutely love mine and it is a great synth
Couple of questions.. Why is the POWER SWITCH between USB Port and DC IN jack? I really cant think more stupid place for it? SH-101 Plug Out that came with the System-1, why its not possible to register it to a new owner if you sell your System-1?
A great synth but I don't understand this problem: when I send to System 1m a middle C (via midi or cv/gate or USB) and the oscillators are set a 8' it plays two octave higher than others machines. Do you have any experience about?
What are the new specs added on v 1.3 ? updated and not the"plug out" button works like a synth was added, if anybody knows about what 1.3 v provides just drop me a line.
Some help please !!! i jus bought the system 1 and i need to update to version 1.2 for windows, i cant find where to download, in the support area of roland web page only it available for MAC user.
The System 1m I bought was faulty on arrival - obviously I got a refund, but it really took the confidence - and the pleasure - out of buying a new Roland synth.
You would need to be a lot more clear about what you're asking. Are you asking about its power consumption or its power output? People are not mind readers. Be specific.
The plugin is a soft synth? or the sounds come from the hardware? Is there an option to use the library in my DAW, but use the sounds from the hardware. Please be aware that people would not invest money to buy hardware, and then use a soft synth. This would be wasting money. Don't you think?
Not a waste of money at all. While having the hardware is great for that hands-on experience, being able to use the System-1 plug-out as a VST in your DAW allows you to use multiple System-1 sounds simultaneously in a tune.
David W Why would you assume that when the System 1 came with the SH-101? What else do you want, a free JD-Xi? The System 1 plug-out was only just created, why should Roland to give it away free of charge one year after the System 1 was released? v1.2 added so much functionality to the System 1, whining about an optional VST is super tacky, no offense. Software costs money to develop, none of these companies are running charities. Roland has been great with extremely useful updates for the System 1, they lowered the price of the System 1 when the 1m came out, I have zero complaints.
Markus Arike Don't blow my gripe out of proportion. I'm not asking for handouts, I'm asking for functionality that one would assume came with this sort of purchase(A decent library editor). If I would have had the choice to wait for the System 1 plug-out vs the SH-101, I would have. To me it makes sense to charge for the peripheral synth remakes vs one modeled after the synth itself. Also don't assume I don't understand what goes into developing these products. I am the first to compliment how Roland has taken the initiative to move their company forward. I truly do appreciate the patches that have come out, but the patch I was waiting for was the one that would allow me to organize my S1 patch banks efficiently. Hell! I would take a standalone library editor with no vst functionality. As far as money goes, maybe this explains why they dropped the price so quickly. Preemptively bracing for this situation? The pricing structure doesn't seem to argue with my logic. Either way, you are totally right, they are definitely not running a charity.
Dave W Just wow. Roland dropped the price of the System 1 upon release of the System 1m, which has additional modular functionality. Because of that, Roland could not have both models priced at $599. There is no other "situation", the price drop had zero to do with Plug Outs, which work with both the 1 and the 1m. Re the System 1 VST, you knew what the System 1 was when you bought it, a hardware synth with one plug out synth included and other totally optional legacy synths offered as "plug outs" at discounted prices. The System 1 VST was not part of the deal when you bought it, it didn't exist, it's not something you ever paid for, why should you expect to get it free now? Do you think Native Instruments is giving Maschine users Komplete 10 instruments as after sales gifts a year later? I can tell you, no they are not, nor should they be expected to. The System 1 was great upon release, with v1.2 it is awesome. Any Plug Outs are gravy, IMO. Besides, if you want companies to release cool stuff, a good start would be to buy that cool stuff when it is released.
Again, my gripe here is the lack of a library editor. Not sure why you care so much. We both agree that they make quality stuff. Moving on with my life as you should too.
Yesterday I bought the System-1 and it will be delivered today, i'm so excited!
This looks great, good for Roland for really supporting their products well!
This synth is so awesome. Finally a keyboard that bridges the gap between hardware and software based workflows.
Pretty underrated synthesizer.
I completely agree
Max16032 a lot for the money,no doubt! Should i??
ye should

... awesome!!!!! ... thanks, Roland!!!
Great update, cheers Roland!
How we find the prog to save our sounds ? I bought a System 1 ... but i am completely lost about the softwares ...
Whrere's the library editor ?
typo at 0:13 "acces"
Can I use System-1 as a MIDI controller to control another instrument? What is the procedure to configure it as a MIDI controller?
so we system-1 owners have to purchase the system-1 plugin in order to access all the features? I agree. Roland should have included the System-1 plug-out with the synth - but they did not. I bought it, and I also got the System-100 plug-out.
Question: Does the standalone plugin sound exactly the same when its played from the computer rather then from the Sytem-1 ?
Can you guys please consider fixing the crusher, I think it's unusable. It's too harsh. Also, maybe add a beautiful chorus effect? As in legato hold to change the function of the crusher. Nice job, Roland! :)
Midi controller mode on the System-1m please.
Looks great except that you can't save a patch without a computer...
With the version 1.2 you increase the number of patches you can store on the System-1 or System-1m from just 8 patch memories to 64 patch memories.
A great synth but I don't understand this problem: when I send to System 1m a middle C (via midi or cv/gate or USB) and the oscillators are set a 8' it plays two octave higher than others machines. Do you have any experience about?
Which plug out are these sounds from or is this without any plug outs?

www.roland.com/us/products/system-1/downloads/.
trying to update my system1m , my computers do not see it at all , tried it on mac and W7 , any ideas ?
MarkoDeLaVoota need more details.
The System 1m I bought was faulty on arrival - obviously I got a refund, but it really took the confidence - and the pleasure - out of buying a new Roland synth.
Give "acces" with one "s" ?
Put a space before a punctuation mark?
system 1 or 1m ?
Both. I have System-1 keyboard, and a few of the System-1m to use with Eurorack gear. :)
how many watts?
You would need to be a lot more clear about what you're asking. Are you asking about its power consumption or its power output? People are not mind readers. Be specific.
New waveform 6: Cowbell.
Uh...huh...
how to connect usb just like you

I really wish Roland would do a Korg electribe style groovebox with ACB style technology and sampling. I think it would sell like hot cakes.
What's wrong with the MC series?
5:06 wow
Roland really need to design a better keyboard for system-1.
that's why the rack version exists. Better yet, just the plugin version
You would assume that the System 1 plug-out would come with the System 1...
nah lets charge everyone who bought the hardware another $100

Dave W Your original post didn't say anything about a library editor, it complained that the new plug out is not free.
