There's a certain joy in a musician advertising and demonstrating an instrument that they really enjoy working with. Reminds me of the Japanese piano keyboard guy.
Most of the demos I've seen for this system have left me cold. I could see the potential but, due to the shite the demonstrators were producing, I couldn't HEAR that potential. Thanks for this video. FAR more useful. Beautiful sounds, decent explanation and an obvious enthusiasm. NOW I'm going to buy one.
This video is what is going to be the deciding factor of me purchasing this piece. Dr. Boulger has done a great job demonstrating the possibilities of the System 1m.
I am having as much fun with this as I did with my GR-707 guitar synth back in the day. It REALLY is a wonderful and satisfying instrument (and yes, it IS an instrument)
Well done, Roland and Dr. Boulanger. Together you make very fine video demo's ! I do like the professor. He knows what he's talking about, he presents it at a natural level and tells the story like an exiting Disney fairy tale. Very good, there's so many low quality presentations out there. Dr. Boulanger, you've even got me interested and exited about this new Roland product, something that all previous Aira videos have failed to do. Hope to follow more of your short curriculums, thank you
Are the effects controllable with CV? That would be amazing. Regardless, I'm much more sold on this than I was the keyboard System-1. Maybe it is just because this demonstrator is making the kind of music that I want to hear. I expect my synth geeks to be real geeks :)
I got tired of Roland back in the mid 80’s, but whooooo! I’m looking at this one hard, it sounds fantastic and the semi modular side is attractive since I don’t use midi sync as a rule.
A great synth but I don't understand this problem: when send a middle C (via midi or cv/gate or USB) and the oscillators are set a 8' it plays two octave higher than others machines. Do you have any experience about? Thanks for help
so, sound coming from the tb-3 is going in via midi connectors? the only other connectors is see from the tb-3 looks like a yellow midi in/out. and black onoes in and out of the system-1m, so how is the tb-3 triggering the 1m note sequences without being obviously connected to the tb-3?
i'm having hassles trying to run tb3 via analogue jacks into the system 1m then analogue jacks out into the mx1. but so far not a squeak! i do get the test tone by pressing the pitch/push gate knob and turning it to pitch the tone. but i have had no joy running a line in. i have tried via midi and usb, but i am not at all used to doing that and it just made the mx1 go bonkers. any tips and hints anyone? theres no basic user guides available anywhere i can find
You are, of course, free to make that decision, but he's not telling anything you about creativity. He's simply demonstrating the possibilities of a piece of gear and doing a good job of it. No trust required.
What I am realy missing is a decent video about how to connect the System-1m. Roland is so lame on giving a good maunal on that. So maybe you could give us a hand.
If I was going to pick on anything in this presentation it wouldn't be Dr Boulangers mode of dress but rather that from time to time if you close your eyes his voice sounds like Olaf the snowman form Frozen :P
+zedster911 is either a troll or doesn't understand the history of synthesizers, and who the greatest innovators were. This guy is making beautiful sounds. Right up my alley. I really don't enjoy the kind of music the other guy makes, who they've had demonstrating the Aira line.
If this machine can make my own natural voice sound like Alvin from Alvin and the chipmunks without the use for swallowing helium then keep talking I am all ears

I don't care about the Roland, I just love this guy!
He does sound pretty awesome...The sounds of this synth is awesome...i'm hooked now...i'm gettn one
No I do care about the synth actually the good doc does ok too.

Dr. Boulanger, you teach, straight to the point.
I am having as much fun with this as I did with my GR-707 guitar synth back in the day. It REALLY is a wonderful and satisfying instrument (and yes, it IS an instrument)
This is the coolest demo guy ever.

Thanks Dr. Boulanger just ordered mine
You have passion, good job!

how is this connected to the Aira drum machine when the drum machine has no CV or Gate? please could someone explain? ty
Excellent demo, and explanation ..
now that's an enthusiast! what a nice presentation

Hi. Whats the machine under roland 1m?
Dr. B!! Great job Professor
Thanks Doctor Richard.
how do you connect the tb3 with system-1m? only with midi???
It looks like it is just sending MIDI note data from the TB3.
A great synth but I don't understand this problem: when send a middle C (via midi or cv/gate or USB) and the oscillators are set a 8' it plays two octave higher than others machines. Do you have any experience about? Thanks for help

it'd be very appreciated now that i've the time to finally get properly stuck in to this gear.
nice one!
How does the TB 3 run with the system 1m over midi ??
great !
Dr. B!
Is it fantastic?
SH-2, SH-101, System-100, Promars,System-1. Do they sound,taste,fell, the same to each other??
Redundant stuff???

Answers my question about what might be done with this strange new hybrid.
fantastic!
Roland's got a winner!
I have dreamt all my life about the "FANTASTIC WAVEFORMS".

Americans really can sell things... any way I get one... fantastic...
It's in their blood via evolution threw natural selection. Those Americans who could not sell either starved or killed themselves.
This guy should sell used cars lol.
make more plug out which is polyphonic , no more mono plug out please
System 8.

Indeed. I have real issues trying to figure it out, and I'm a smart guy with well above average IQ.

amin to that
So the tb3 here is just being used as a sequencer? Seems like a bit of a waste
😂😂😂 what? The system 1m isn’t going to do anything without something connected to it to generate a gate signal 😂😂😂
strong point, but this demo transcends the suit
anyone else have a serious flashback watching this serious looking older gentleman showing us the 1m ? ? . .. uh just checking . .
kool
No they sound different
Nice mafia rings
If this machine can make my own natural voice sound like Alvin from Alvin and the chipmunks without the use for swallowing helium then keep talking I am all ears
not harsh at all. good reaction to pure bs.
LOL!!!
Do I trust a guy telling me about creativiity who wears a suit jacket? No!..... LOL
Dr Synth lol.
Dr Boulanger is a Tweaker lol
