      Dirt was actually renewable before moss by using 1 dirt and 1 gravel to make 2 coarse dirt and then you can use a hoe to make the 2 coarse dirt into 2 dirt. Its only renewable though because you can get gravel from piglin trading and your method is probably better.

      No, this makes them really effective in melting down mountains to expose ores

  • @TheStaffmaster
    @TheStaffmaster 2 года назад +7

    you forgot that you can take moss to a stone generator, convert the cobble to moss, grow large spruce on the moss which converts it to podsol, which you can then make a grass path, till the grass path with a hoe to make farmland, which will naturally decay back into dirt, and badda bing badda boom, you just made dirt a renewable resource. (Or you can dig it up at the podzol stage) Great for skyblock because wandering traders sometimes sell moss (and spruce!), and dirt is a PREMIUM in skyblock.

    • @Sh4dow_007
      @Sh4dow_007 2 года назад +1

      Also, for Skyblock, you can get gravel from Piglins which can be mixed with dirt to create coarsed dirt, which can be turned into normal dirt using a hoe. You basically get 4 dirt blocks from 2 dirt blocks. It's great for Skyblock and probably easier to get until you get emeralds to buy moss from wandering villagers.

    • @TheStaffmaster
      @TheStaffmaster 2 года назад

      @@Sh4dow_007 while this is true, and does require fewer steps, if you need BULK dirt production this is WAY better. You also get LOADS of Spruce which you can convert in to Charcoal, another skyblock necessity. So this method is a bit more efficient due to what is output.

    With correct methodology of using moss to mine diamonds, make a video comparing it to strip mining so we can see which is more effective. It would really be helpful if moss will make things easier if starting a world

    • @ObieTriceratops
      @ObieTriceratops 2 года назад +1

      If you happen to find a lush cave and a large, open, flat bottomed deep enough cave very early in the game the moss method is efficient. However it is exceedingly more efficient to strip mine with a diamond efficiency pickaxe, and once you've got netherite and a mending/efficiency 5 villager trade, the moss method becomes comparatively worthless. You're comparing the time it takes to mine two blocks with the time it takes to use the bonemeal then break all the moss. The jumping around, switching tools, trying to find the right moss blocks to hit with bonemeal, etc. all ends up adding a lot of downtime when you're mining for more than a few minutes.

    I tried the mining part back when it was first introduced and it honestly isn't worth it. The moss ends up cluttering up your inventory, you need a special tool for it, and it's difficult to control the growth. You also need a dedicated bonemeal farm. It works, but it's just too much micromanagement when I'd rather just shut my mind off and strip-mine. The best up about the carpet is how you can use it in the nether without fear of burning.
