- This will probably the last video with this digicam for a while, but it's a digicam that will most likely remain in my collection for quite some time. Not only is the camera in near mint condition, it's a full-auto fun-to-shoot CCD sensor gem from the height of personal cameras in pre-iPhone times.
I have really, really enjoyed shooting with this camera here in Omaha and during my travels, and other than preferring to shoot using an optical viewfinder, I don't know that I have any major complaints with this camera. Maybe one - why is the video frame rate in the NTSC setting 25fps?
If you're looking for a sleek, pocketable digicam with a great flash and nothing complex when it comes to settings and the menu, then this is the digicam for you. It's just new enough to have a more modern feel and higher megapixel count but just old enough to still have a glorious CCD sensor. This can shoot plenty wide enough with a 28mm full-frame equivalent lens - a lens that can get ridiculously tight at 224mm!
The battery on this lasts forever - so long, in fact, that I didn't even bother to buy a second one on the used market. The one that came with it works just fine, and I can be out for several hours shooting constantly without risk of running out of juice. If you find one of these at a garage sale or thrift store, snag it!

Alright so I gotta know... What's the absolute best Canon PowerShot digicam with a CCD sensor? I want to find the one that everyone agrees is the ultimate... Is it the PowerShot G-series? Does that count as a digicam since it has so many features/optical viewfinder/etc?
I think digicam basically refers to any digital point and shoot zoom; maybe excluding bridge cameras. More often, than not, as reference to the vintage models, in sort of a nostalgic way, since the term itself is also vintage.
I would think the PowerShot G9 is the apex of the CCD digicam for Canon. The 10-12mp sensors are the sweet spot in that category.
@@yargnad I was about to reply with the same camera! I've got the G9 and love it!
Wonderful results
I see the links in the description, ill def download RNI Films, keep up the good work!
@@yargnad was just about to comment the same, love my G9!
What a wonderful fusion of images and backdrop music, almost ASMR. Subbed.
So glad you enjoyed this video, Derek. That is EXACTLY what I’m going for. Welcome to the channel!
The soundtrack, again, was right on. I like being able to play along on guitar using big, ambient echo.
I see you're over 300 subs now. Fun to see something grow from the very beginning. I hope you don't mind me living vicariously through your work.
Not at all! Great to have you and it’ll be exciting to remember these times when the channel has grown to 1k subs and beyond!
Those powershot cameras are amazing
Agreed. Especially the SX line that has full manual controls and the Positive Film preset.
Hello, may i know the setting camera for video and photo you take? Cz its very aesthetic and vintage! Thankyou
I edit the photos using the RNI Films app for iPad. I use their Portra 400 preset and make a lot of adjustments to tone it down, increase contrast, etc. It's a great app if you want to make your digicam photos look a bit more like 35mm film.
nice video, I really like the photos you take. you post them on any social media? i would like to see more of your work
I sure do! instagram.com/matthewtobrien/
This is fantastic! I live in the area, there's so many great places to shoot here. I got the canon Powershot tx1 and I love it! I get nice warm looking videos and pics that look so good and vintage. what are you using to edit your footage?
I’ll need to check out the TX1. Haven’t come across it yet. My buddy lives in Los Feliz so whenever I visit I make sure to walk over to Atwater Village to go to Proof 🥐
I’ll need to double check what I used with the footage - I may have just left it as-is with some basic grading. Luma curve, increase the black point. All in Final Cut Pro.
But I may have used FilmConvert Nitrate on it to rough it up even more. It should say what I used in the end credits 👌 I always include all the details there for each video I make.
Appreciate you watching!
