    Letting the glue set then iron/heat to reactivate is a great idea. Your work is wonderful, thank you.

    Nice video though a critical missing step not shown is how was the purfling binding channels cut on the top, particularly the area where the bevel is?

    • @GabiM3112
      @GabiM3112  2 месяца назад

      If you watch closely, you see, that with this method, you DON'T cut a channel at the bevel, only at the rest of the guitar top, as you would do on any other guitar without a bevel. That's not any different from cutting a binding channel, you just adjust the depth and hight for the cut.
      For the bevel part you cut the top to shape before glueing it on and then you directly add the purfling. Depending on the depth of the purfling, you may have to feed some wood under it to make it level with the the top (which I had to do in this case). Next to the purfling, you add the sacrificial wood on which the veneer sits.

      @GabiM3112 Thank you and apologies for my earlier comment. I now get exactly what you did....very cool.

    Hi Gabriele, nice job on the bevel and thanks for sharing the process. What is the abalone strip that you are using and where did you purchased it ? Thanks.

    Not a fan of arm bevels even though I have a strat. One famous guitarist , Ian Moss uses strats made by Greg Fryer of Sydney , Australia and he has his strat bodies like a Telecaster, no cutaways for the stomach nor an arm bevel. Greg Fryer was the first person to take Brian May's Red Special apart for restoration ( and built him three more guitars ( John, Paul and George) for Brian. Curious what people like. I like a Telecaster Flat guitar and even my Gretsch is a flat top dou jet flat shape like a Les Paul.. Also prefer a LP Jr. to an arch top. Each to his own. Love your videos and learn a great deal. Peace..

BTW I can Suggest you view his performance of the Ray caharles Song " Georgia" on youtube. Type Ian Moss : "Georgia". P.s. Uour guitars sound so good right after their builds. Peace.

      Well, I'm a big fan and I won't build another guitar for myself without them. If I build for someone else it depends on what they like and it seems more and more people see the benefit of them...
