- Since a number of people asked for it, here goes. Enjoy.
I also give a list of steambendable woods I was successful with:
walnut, red gum/satin walnut, maple, rosewood, apple, cherry, plum, pear, chestnut, bocote, black locust, oak, ash.

I love watching you build guitars. I want to thank you for adding voice overs to your videos. Much more informative than watching you work in silence.
This is what RUclips was meant to be in the beginning. To shown craft skills that actually make things.
YES! I love that.
I remember those days.
Yep…

I’ve made a number of acoustic guitars, dreadnoughts, jumbo and a small bodied guitars from old pianos (some over 100 yrs old) which people are happy to give away. They have lots of spruce in the soundboards though in varying qualities of grain patterns. I have used the woods from the piano sides which are often birch or polar for guitar sides which are softwoods. Even though they sound very good I came to the realisation that hard woods are needed for strength of the soundbox plus the reflective properties of hardwoods like mahogany, rosewood etc. that contribute to their sonic properties. Making guitars is like making a cake, you use all the best ingredients but don’t know how it tastes until you hit the first chord. 😀
I absolutely love the use of repurposed lumber. The aged sound it produces when done with your craftsmanship is fantastic. Thank you for giving us a look into the artisan skill you have.
I think there are a lot of people that don’t really comprehend what goes into making a Guitar by hand, and think they’re “overpriced” at times. They prob have an image of machines making them in a factory.
This was super in depth, amazing work, and overall an enjoyable watch. That’s a gorgeous piece of work!
You basically gave away your hearts work for a good cause!
Beautiful work and I really like how you build with reclaimed woods & minimal tools in your home.
This was a masterclass in how to be an efficient, precise, disciplined and innovative Luthier. What an Inspiring video! From across the pond, colour me impressed.
Your English is remarkable 👍👍😎 the guitar built in excellent too 🎸😍😍😍🎸👍🎸👍🎸👍
Amazing... Absolutely top shelf work. Thank you very much for sharing this! $600 is a steal for this level of build. You've really done a public service.
I enjoy your builds so much - I always feel that what you are showing is so understandable. This video with voice over was no exception, just full of why and how you do each step. The joy you bring to people through your builds, has to be greatly rewarding. Again thank you for sharing!!!
You're welcome
My jaw dropped when you mentioned the price you asked. Some students are getting the deal of a lifetime. These are quite possibly the best looking standard, non-premium acoustics I've seen in my life. Well done. Just... well done. If I lived in Deutschland I'd be seriously pestering you for guitar making tuition!
The skills on display here are pretty incredible, thank you so much for sharing your work, its really inspiring.
Thank you SO much for taking the trouble to add your commentary. I have worked with wood, in a cabinet-maker's shop, before; and I consider myself fortunate to have had that job AFTER 20 years as a Handyman/wood-butcher. So I was able to appreciate the beauty of the wood working. I'm glad to learn of your view on finishes, too - I agree that wood should be sealed but able to breathe somewhat. Now, I like an electric guitar to gleam like a show-car, but for acoustics, the sound is more important; and finishes can be touched up or renewed.
You do extraordinarily beautiful work on those Guitars!! And to sell them for the price you did! Wow!! You know you could make allot of $$ building and selling “Hand built” guitars… I know if I was able to, I’d definitely buy one!
Gorgeous! Can't believe that beautiful mahogany was used as wall material and was destined for the trash!
Gabriele it is a privilege to watch you work. Beautiful guitar and I appreciate your conservationist philosophy and interesting combination of old and modern methods.
This lady did an excellent job building theses guitars. She is German so excellent quality is almost guaranteed .
The headstock overlay "sandwich" is genius. Decorative, beautiful instrument with a wonderful warm tone. Bravo!
Love the video with the added voiceover. Very interesting.
Watching you work without commentary is very meditative, but your commentary adds another dimension to your video. I like both.
Another beautiful guitar Gabi, Its quite unusual to have a Mahogany top on an acoustic guitar, however, it has a really nice warm tone, I also think its great to use reclaimed wood, apart from saving it from fire wood, I strongly believe old wood produces nicer tones, a bit like old guitars seem to mellow with age.
Gabriele Réti You are so gifted. Thank you for all your hard work in bringing to us your Art. This in my opinion is Art . Not just an awesome Craft.
That is an absolutely lovely guitar! And it shows that you don’t have to use fancy woods to build a great instrument, very inspiring. Thank you
Always nice to watch a build....and the whistling whilst you work. I really dig the bridge clamp. Simple, smart, elegant solution. ✌️
I dislike the sanding too. I'm getting better with card scrapers. Getting the correct burr isn't the easiest thing.
But, I love it when I do !
Great video . Thank you
Your mic most definitely isn't doing Justice To absolutely Your beautifully Made Guitar & Choice Woods, I'm Very Happy It Turned Out So Amazing, It's Subtle But That In My Opinion Has Ticked Every Box For Less Is Definitely More In This Perfect Example, And You Reclaimed The Wood Too, 10 out 10
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank For Sharing Your Passion It's Very Rewarding & Refreshing 😃👍🙏🌹
Thanks for your kind words. I think it's rathe the XY pattern, which I found not to like much for recroding guitars, but that's what I used for this video.
Absolutely fantastic guitar and for €500 the New owner has a bargain. Well done for giving that wood a second purpose that has true meaning and passion rather than land fill or fire wood 👍
Wonderful work, pretty interesting video and I love the fact that you sing while working
😄
Beautiful work. Also very interesting seeing your unique approach to certain aspects of building the instrument
Naturally, I subscribed! I am not going to comment on the quite obvious and self-evident craftmanship. Instead I will say this, "Gabriele, your voice is like sitting down on a wing-back chair in a dimly lit room with a nice glass of fine, fine Scoth.
Very beautiful and sounding guitar love it
Very cool congratulations. Greetings from Hungary!
wow what a beautiful guitar, looks very expensive. I love it❤. I would love to have a piece of art you created
@@alwandera In February there will be a raffle for some guitars I built from old pianos as a fundraiser. You could buy tickets. Maybe you‘ll be lucky. You can check our my recent video about that.
Thoroughly enjoyable video that is packed with: innovation, cleverness, expertise, and humility. Thank you!
Very nice guitar! I really enjoy your videos and beautiful workmanship. 😊
Absolutely wonderful video...thank you!
Im really love the way you work. Your guitars looks pretty good. ❤
Wow ! Thanks for taking the time to make this video . I found it very therapeutic .
Nice, thanks for sharing. Lovely sound at the end which was great to hear.
Beautifuuly guitar ❤
Thank you for this video
Wow does that sound good! 500 Euros is a gift to the students. A labor of love, for sure.
guitar for the typical guitar player. I loved!
You are very skilled.
Very impressive. Thanks from south Texas.
You play very well, you are a excellan craftspersonf and that guitar has a beautiful tone. Well done. Keep on smiling.
WOW!! So very impressive.
Very gifted artist. Most builders would do well to take an efficiency course from you.
You absolutely did one hell of a job on this. It really turned out beautifully and sounds fantastic.
I most definitely hit the like button and subscribe. Looking forward to watching more from you.
This is incredibly beautiful.
Thank you for this video - The guitar turned out beautifully and it sounds great. It was really interesting to hear your commentary on the build. It is wonderful to be able to see such craftsmanship.
Thanks.
First up, this guitar is absolutely beautiful, love everything about it, all the woods work so well together, really like the inlay on the fretboard. Just came across one of your videos on Friday and have been watching them over the weekend, just found your Bio bit from the 2021 GGBO and cannot believe that you've only been building guitars for 3 years, I would not have guessed that, I thought this is something you'd been doing for at least a couple decades, at least with the attention to detail, workmanship and high quality of your builds. Also really like that you use reclaimed/recycled materials. In watching your videos, I keep wondering when you'll get an actual "proper" workbench, think that would make things a lot better/easier for you.
Very OT, but curious about your DuckTails book (?) collection on the shelves in the background, never seen anything like that, really very cool that the spines all make up a piece of an overall picture for the series.
Hello there,
thanks for your kind words. I have upgraded my "workbench" to something more sturdy but it's still removable since I'm building on my pool table which I want to use for playing pool every once in a while, so my "workshop" needs to be mobile so to speak.
The "Lustige Taschenbücher" as they are called - are a typically German thing. They have been there since the 70's and contain stories from Duckburgh ("Entenhausen" as we say.)
Absolutely Love this video, thank you for sharing your craft.!
The voice over is great! I play around with guitar building for my own personal use. I use laminated spruce for my necks with carbon graphite rods for extra rigidity. Makes for an extremely light weight guitar! Please keep up your postings..
same tonal qualities as high end guitars excellent work thanks for posting you should get big money for that easy
Well, in the video you hear for much I gave it away. It was supposed to be affordable for students.
I really enjoyed the narration and build, thank you!
Very nice box with wires on it. JERRY ROSA, JIM OLSON, AND YOU, SURE ENJOY YOUR WORKS.
Perfeitamente lindo...
Thank you for another excellent display of your talent.
I love watching your work, it's awesome that you sing while you build
Wow…enjoyed the build. Beautiful guitar that you played very nicely!
Absolutely amazing, I have been toying with the idea of building a acoustic for awhile now, but after watching you and the skill you posses I am moving forward ,I will watch this and your other videos over and over, thank you for the inspiration!
I've always enjoyed watching your ASMR vidéos.... But making them with a voice over wow ! Loved it
And you are just a great skillefull guitar maker... All the best from Algeria❤️
Wow, was für ein toller Klang! Ein Jumbokorpus halt. Danke, es war ein Vergnügen dieses Video zu schauen. Und, genial dass Sie altes, schon einmal gebrauchtes Holz verwendet haben.
I’m not a luthier. But I could complete my first ever violin 🎻 project. Without people like you on RUclips it wouldn’t be possible. Now I’m thinking about making a guitar 🎸. Good tutorial. ❤️💙
Ótima Luthier! Trabalho e arte muito bem feito! Lindo violão e com ótimo som. Saudações do Brasil!
That reclaim is better than any Mahogany I buy in Canada !
I love this guitar. Good sound and Amazing wood work.
brilliant video thank you tony Leicestershire.
Wonderful, as usual. Thanks for adding your commentary - it really helps viewers to understand what you're doing and why. You're fast becoming very proficient at this RUclips game!
Yahoo! You're inspiring me to another build. I've made one before which turned out well but it's wonderful to watch what you do. Thank you.
Love this...guitar sounds very nice and will only get better!
This is fantastic. How lucky that your pupil has a teacher who will turn the walls into a guitar for a tenth of of what boutique guitars normally costs. I've heard the expression "if these walls could talk." Now they can sing! The t@nz come from the car battery.
Wow, such an inspiration! I'm so glad I found your channel. Keep up the good work.
This is beyond AMAZING. Blessings to your talents.
That guitar sounds really bright! Nice sound. You did a great job on this project. Can't wait to see your next project.
Totally fine to use ebony for a nut. No tone difference. I used African blackwood for nut and saddle last time with no discernable difference to bone that I could tell. I like the look better also.
It sounds as good as it looks.!
A lot of interesting info in the commentary. Thank you...
a beautiful musical instrument,Perfect
gabriele that was a realy nice job i enjoyed not only the video but your workmanship and your music thank you very much, and good luck with your fund raising.
I'm just a beginner making guitars, but I've somehow adopted ,from all the youtube videos, a lot of your methods. Your fancy bridge clamp has my attention except I like pyramid bridges so some kind of caul is needed so the pyramids don't get dented. I also put my frets in like you do....why cut them first?!! I also put the back joint reinforcing strips in after the braces are in place. I think I will shape the braces before I put these in so there's no bump to run into. I will be watching!
A great informative and educational video. Fantastic guitar!
Very enjoyable to watch. Thank you!
I am amazed Gabriele, at using several pieces for a top or even a Back. I have plenty of Mahogany but only 5 inch width, But it is 3 inches thick. I am glad to know this because I can not find Mahogany sound boards for a full size guitar. Thank You for your input. You have been so helpful.
Thanks, Russel. These boards are about 7cm wide each. You just need to glue them together well. ;-) Where do you live?

Aah, the people I buy my guitar wood from have resonable prices and fair international shipping. You might check them out: edelholzhandel.com/Akustische-Gitarren
@@GabiM3112 Thank you so Much Ms. Gabriele. I certainly will . I am just starting to get ready to build my first acoustic. I started with the electric and Got interested in acoustics. Then after seeing your videos and John Hall of Blue Creek Guitar, It grabbed me. John has been helpful He has called me and chatted on my email. Look up John on Blue creek guitar. But it doesn't look as though you need any help. Ha. I just got through building my steam box like yours. I have to order my Generator this coming week.
Haha
Very nice you must have someone teach you these skills playing and building.
Yes, a book, the internet and myself.
Amazing build, love your style and signing while working. 😄
beautiful Guitar.. Very well done.
A true artist. I would love one and I don't even know how to play! Thank you for sharing. Best wishes!
Thank you for such an informative video, your commentary is excellent. I am hoping to build an acoustic next year and watching this on 30 Dec 22 so you can guess what my New Years resolution will be. This is a wonderful guitar, I’m sure I’ve seen this featured in the Christmas calendar videos. Thank you so much. Cheers Dave
Hi, Dave. This one wasn't in the calendar because I built this for a student of mine and it's gone. But you've seen one of the same body of wood on 22 December (the one in that video was the original so to speak after which I built the other one in this video). Good luck with your build.
i love the sounds of the guitar that you made , hope someday i own a guitar like that .... HAPPY NEW YEAR
Watching from phillipines,Very beautiful work,i hope someday i can have 1 of youre master piece.can't afford to have a very good sound guitar like the one you make
Fantastic skill as always Gabriele. Thank you
An amazing build . I particularly like your work with hand tools. It already sounds good as to the age of the recycled woods. Well done, once again , Gabriele, and you sold them so cheaply. Also, I don't know what the voice 0vr means but your English is perfect. Thank you.
Thats the vest sounding acoustic I've heard in a long long time thank you for sharing with us
Sounds amazing!! Great work!!
Absolutely beautiful guitar build. Love the look feel and sound of this guitar. You make it look so easy.
You are my new hero.
Very good work, for a very good result!
I am so impressed with what I am hearing and seeing great job.
