    Personally, I cannot believe that anyone could find anything negative or critical to say about what you have just created. So impressive that you work with such ease, efficiency and still end up with a beautiful instrument most people couldn't dream of and then adding in the great riffs at the end. I am humbled and very impressed!! Cheers

    Thank you so much for your inspirational videos Gabriele. I've watched and studied 100's of videos on guitar building, and the majority are built in hugely equipped expensive workshops, yet you manage to build superb guitars with mostly homemade jigs and limited amount of specialised luthier tools. I love your method for bending the sides with steam box and former. I have built a few solid bodied electric guitars in the past, but have not had the confidence to take on an acoustic build. As a recently retired carpenter, i have many woodworking skills and tools, so you have inspired me to start my first acoustic build. ordered my tone woods today, and intend to start making jigs and steam box tomorrow. I'm sure I will be following your videos at each stage of my build. Keep up the great work and please keep posting videos.

    The result is lovely and obviously the product of hard work and experience. That said, as a woodworker with no experience in guitar making, is there a reason for all the times you seem to do finishing while there's still other work to do? Like when you're doing the inlay, you do the olives, then sand it down, then you do the leaves, and sand down again. Or on the head, you do polishing and oiling before drilling for the tuning knobs.

    • @GabiM3112
      @GabiM3112  2 года назад +1

      If I don't sand the inlays down in between, the router doesn't run over the surface smoothly and I couldn't do the other inlays. I always have them a bit proud of the surface. For the headstock, sometimes I drill the holes first, sometimes after the oiling. Depends on when I make the decision what tuners go on. Also, clearing oil runs from inside the holes is not easily done but you want clean holes for the tuners to go in nicely. Oh, and they're plums, not olives, since it's a plum wood guitar. ;-)

      With all due respect I have to say I was no fan of your neck to body joint but I have since come around. One could argue its better than mortise and tenon due to the tight wood on wood contact, more surface area to transmit sound throughout. M&T might even be 'overkill' so to speak. That joint with a light coat of hide glue and tight bolts isnt ever going to move. I may try it on my next build. Thank you.

    Fabelhaft! In February I'm starting my own small guitar workshop in Brittany, France. It's planned to be the start of building my own guitars after years of restoring old guitars. The idea is to make it manual as much as possible and replace electric tools by mechanic tools wherever I can but only where it makes sense. So I've been watching a lot of guitar building videos and yours is one of the best. Beautiful work, beautiful guitar and great sound! I like the design features a lot and it's great to see you're not cutting corners but make the instrument as best as possible and as beautiful as possible. A great inspiration for me! Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.

I never understood the waste of fret wire and the unnecessary extra clipping and cutting. Plus if you forget to clear away even one of those little sharp clippings it can wreak havoc on the wood.
