I have a question. What if you are someone (me) who is in menopausal status does a pretty good job with carnivore diet for about 4 months but has a problem with alcohol. How does this affect the entire system play out?
I am a Carnivore ( fatty beef and fatty lamb) and tested protein intake on myself some months ago. I am 68 and lift weights 15 hours a week and pumped up my protein to 310 grams a day and I actually started getting fat . Now I use about 200 to 225 grams a day and it seems to be about right for my body. Since the warmer weather hit, my muscle gains are pretty good. I dont do blood work, haven't been to a doctor in 18 years.
dr.-cywes- question (if i may ask)- my bun level was borderline low, right at the fence, i thought that was a sign of dehydration but it couldn't be since i drink right at a gallon of water per day, so per this video, it could be a sign of low protein intake? is that what you are saying here? i know i haven't eaten much protein based on the high prices at the grocery store. i also have hashimotos low thyroid, lots of fatigue even though my tsh is in the optimal range per tirosint. curious. thanks.

@drCywesCarbAddictionDoc thanks for the videos because I think it’s helping me figure out an issue I’m having on carnivore. But your videos are confusing me on this topic. I’ve been eating mostly ribeyes as they come.. the whole thing including protien and fat. But my uric acid is going up on carnivore and you say in another video that it’s an indication you’re eating too much protein. Should I not eat the whole steak and instead eat pure fat? I’m concerned about the long term effects of high uric acid. But in another video you suggested that high fat long term isn’t healthy. Is the reality that there are differences between individuals in terms of proper balance that is also dependent on the phase of adaptation they are in? How do I sort it out?
At age 61 with triglycerides at 47, HDL. at 94 and LDL 160 I am LMHR as well at 18.5 BMI. LP- ir is < 25 A-1c is 5.2. I don't take anything (no statins, etc) My last blood work about 9 months ago showed a .44 creatinine level (well below normal) I don't know if I should be concerned about this or not. Of course it was never mentioned by my doc. What would this mean? I don't have a Uric acid score and my BUN is 36.4. I was drinking excessive amount of plain water at the time this was taken and wondering if that was the reason for the ridiculously high BUN score? I was not that thirsty when I was doing this but I for some reason drink a lot of water when I'm nervous and at that time I was going through some stress in my life. Anyway, just curious.
This video clarifies a lot of things I have heard since I started following the low-carb movement 30 years ago. the endocrinologist I have been following pretty much says the same thing Dr C here does, but she did list recommended amounts of protein based on size/weight and activity level. I have been using her list for my own meal planning and it is working for me. I remember Dr Ken Berry saying we need to eat 200g of protein which made me cringe, the doc I've been following says a 100 lb person should be only eating 45-60g of protein and a 200 lb person should be eating about 90-150g, imagine if that little 100 lb person tried to eat 200g of protein? haha The numbers I listed seem more realistic to me. Personally I am a bit bigger and still eat between 100g and 150g. The excess protein leading to gluconeogenesis may also be why a couple doctors I have been following have actually had patients become Type-2 diabetic while on a zero carb diet. I'd bet a donut they were eating too much protein. Maybe they were following Dr Berry LOL
YOU CANT OVEREAT PROTEIN THEY SAY, well you clearly can. im a bodbuilder with an obesity background so i can force myself eating more haha. did 2 bloodwork tests and saw a slight uptick in triglycerides so i likely was indeed overconsuming protein. but to say you cant overeat protein is just dumb bec you clearly can its just that the average person does not but if your like me you defo can. Will update this in my next carnivore bulk lowering my protein intake see what my triglycerides look like in a year
I've found you certainly can over eat protein! I'm working my way through the results of that right now. I'm not a body builder - just an average guy (who also has an obesity background). Strict carnivore for for 19 months. When I started carnivore, I was working out 6 days a week, resistance (x3 Bar) training with good results. However, life/work got busy and I completely stopped. But I continued eating the same. One meal a day: 1lb of ground brisket, 4-6 eggs scrambled in butter, about 4-6 pieces of bacon. Some cheese and salami to snack on while I cooked. I was trying to loosely follow to the "1 gram of protein per pound lean body weight" recommendation that's tossed around a lot and the Dr. Chaffee message that you can't overeat on carnivore. But you certainly can! I didn't gain any weight eating this way. In fact, I've lost 15 lbs since starting carnivore in a slow but steady drop (currently 165lbs at 5'11"). BUT, I've recently developed xanthelasma (deposits of cholesterol and fats under the skin - usually the hands/joints or around the eyes), which is often associated with high triglycerides. So I tested my blood for the first time in 9 months. Previously my Trigs were ~100 and had been dropping. But now they've shot up to nearly 400! I was *strict* carnivore. No carbs at all during that time. So I know it's not from over consumption of fructose. I know from earlier videos by Dr. Cywes about the alternate pathway to Trig production via conversion of protein to glucose and then to Trigs and of the concept of insulin suppression that strict carnivores can run into. So, temporarily, I've added some carbs back in to my diet. Just trying to get an insulin response in the body - enough to start pulling excess energy from the blood and into the cells. Dr. Bikman has made it clear via experiments in his lab that fat cells can be swimming in a sea of glucose and triglycerides, but nothing will cross the cellular barrier to be stored without insulin unlocking the receptors. Additionally, I've reduced what I am eating by about half. I may reduce it even further. I've added a small meal of wild caught sardines earlier in the day for the benefit of the fish oils (anti-inflammatory and good at lowering triglycerides). I've added exercise back in to my daily routine. Right now just some long, fast walks to get the muscles asking for energy and to burn any excess glucose in the blood. My major focus is to lower my triglycerides and handle this xanthelasma - they hurt! Not all the time, but even just a little pressure on them (which you really can't avoid when doing anything with your hands) causes sharp, burning pain. It's been about two weeks since I made these changes. I just did a blood draw and sent it in for testing a couple of days ago. I'll know in a few days just how much (if any) changes to Trig levels can be accomplished in short time frames. I use a service where you can do a simple finger prick blood draw that tests 17 basic blood markers. Unfortunately, no tests for BUN or creatanine. After I get the results from this set of tests this week, I plan on setting up a consultation with Dr. Cywes and getting a comprehensive set of blood panels done and seeking further advice. Anyway, all of that is to say that even a non-body building type carnivore can over-eat protein!
@@michealhall4512 agree with you completely but from what you just told me you dont seem to eat a lot and perhaps smth else is going on (imo likely). Bec what you said about eating 1lb of ground brisket + couple pieces of bacon and 4-6 eggs id say thats really not a lot. Id defo get that checked out by dr cywes or the likes bart kay. Let me know what results you get and how the consultation went. generally eating fatty meat till satiety till full is all you need to do and most people on the carnivore get maybe 0.8kg of meat in that way. i do not think your specific story has to do with overeating protein bec your really not bec your eating like 150g ish of protein. im eating like 300-350g of protein and see incredibly small elevation of triglycerides. to see a whopping increase of 300 in just a few months even with sad diet thats like almost impossible for the average person. gluconeogenisis is a very tasking/energy taking proces that the body taps into. And on top of that its extremely mild compared to the insuline spikes you get on a SAD diet carb diet. and like you said you do OMAD and eating 150g of protein in one sitting is more than enough to trigger an insuline spike.
I don't agree with Dr. Cywes in that I don't think carbs are the causation. I believe it's probably seed oils breaking the metabolism and then one can no longer handle carbs, but carbs by themselves didn't break the system. And anyone that says low carb diets fix the problem they must also understand that low carb diets are also low seed oil diets, so it's impossible to know what fixed the issue.
Please, Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet .(Sorry if i already posted before but i dont know what to do) : I am now over 180 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else 500-600g of COCKED meat plus 7-8 eggs in a day. All Divided in 2 meals) I am now 35 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-22%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.(lift weigths to help sustain or increase muscle mass and assist fat loss- HIT Workouts) I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition. I was a HEALHTY guy with NO chronic illnesses or health problems. I lost about 17 lbs(8kg) in the first 9 weeks (Mostly water) but since then I haven't been able to change my body composition. I have now gone more than 8 weeks without registering any body changes (weight loss, decrease in BF% or measurements). In fact i have gained 2,5 lbs(1KG) in the last 3 weeks but might be just water. I still need to lose at least another 15lbs of fat to reach my goal of being below 15%BF. However, I don't see how the Carnivora Diet will facilitate this process. I have not experienced most of the benefits common to Carnivores (Improved sleep, more energy/disposition, etc.) nor can I change my body composition. I ma now over 12 weeks with no body fat lost. So I would like to ask more experienced Carnivores: 1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnviroa diet to be able to lose the excess bodyfat I still have?(at least 15lbs of fat) 2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you? 3-Is the Carnivore diet effective for those who are aldreay healthy and just need to improve body composition? I am affraid this way of eating is too restrictive, for a healthy person, with no aditional benefit from any other whole food diet. PS: Most of my time as a Carnivore i have not experience most Carnivore benefits or lost any body fat. Also, Sorry for any grammar mistake, i am Brazilian and english is not my first language. Thank you for your attention!.

Ask your doctor how many Type II patients he has healed using his high carb low fat advice. 😮
Do you consult online please?
Me too please
I'd like to know that as well
I have a question.
Is there a guide to the amount of fat that should be combined with lean meat and can other oils such coconut oil be used to supplement?
My bun is 24.6, and urea 53. Lowering my protein and adding more fats now. Do you accept patients from Canada?
Just eat a fat:protein ratio of at least 3:1
Eat bone marrow, kidney fat, brains, heavy cream, fat trimmings, and/or butter for energy.
dr.-cywes- question (if i may ask)- my bun level was borderline low, right at the fence, i thought that was a sign of dehydration but it couldn't be since i drink right at a gallon of water per day, so per this video, it could be a sign of low protein intake? is that what you are saying here? i know i haven't eaten much protein based on the high prices at the grocery store. i also have hashimotos low thyroid, lots of fatigue even though my tsh is in the optimal range per tirosint. curious. thanks.
Get your bit D to 65-80ng- hashi will likely go away- autoimmunity is a bit d deficiency- it’s a hormone- either get from sun or supplement to that range.
@@lmyers9999 no, my vit d range is higher than 80 righ now per blood test.
What's going on when you can smell a hint of ammonia on your breath?
We need more teachers like Dr Cywes!!
LMHR is LDL over 200 plus
You are looking younger 🎉❤ Maybe it's the haircut or the tan.

Great videos. But seriously... res-pie-ratory? Pie-riminidines? It hurts!! Look up the pronunciation!

@ four. Why?
YOU CANT OVEREAT PROTEIN THEY SAY, well you clearly can. im a bodbuilder with an obesity background so i can force myself eating more haha.
did 2 bloodwork tests and saw a slight uptick in triglycerides so i likely was indeed overconsuming protein. but to say you cant overeat protein is just dumb
bec you clearly can its just that the average person does not but if your like me you defo can.
But D is also a huge factor in how people handle carbs- he never addresses this and it’s a major factor.
too much protein, I suspect, made my stomach acid too high and caused erosion (seen on gastroscopy)
Too much Protein and stomach acid too low?
@@Kristina-sv1fm stomach produces acid to break down protein. too much protein = stomach makes too much acid
Please, Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet .(Sorry if i already posted before but i dont know what to do) :
I am now over 180 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else 500-600g of COCKED meat plus 7-8 eggs in a day. All Divided in 2 meals) I am now 35 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-22%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.(lift weigths to help sustain or increase muscle mass and assist fat loss- HIT Workouts)
I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition.
So I would like to ask more experienced Carnivores:
1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnviroa diet to be able to lose the excess bodyfat I still have?(at least 15lbs of fat)
2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you?
3-Is the Carnivore diet effective for those who are aldreay healthy and just need to improve body composition?
I am affraid this way of eating is too restrictive, for a healthy person, with no aditional benefit from any other whole food diet.
PS: Most of my time as a Carnivore i have not experience most Carnivore benefits or lost any body fat.
Also, Sorry for any grammar mistake, i am Brazilian and english is not my first language.
Thank you for your attention!.
Yes, it becomes more interesting when you a healthy person 😂
The better thing is to add top nutritional products (like liver, yolks, sardines and so on) to your healthy food then to limit your diet. This is my point at the moment.
@@russvet Idon't understand what you mean. I have not lose any body fat in over 3 months and now i should eat more from different sources and some how i will lose body fat? Have you even read my comment?
Jesus!
@@AndreLeitedaSilvaGaldino I've read your comments. You are healthy. And looking for problems which you have not.
Now ur quite lean you would do well to track calories to get 2 ur goal BF. Every bodybuilder that competes almost all do high carb and high protein with low fat but they all track calories.
Just like shawn baker does he eats less fat and more protein when he cuts
Carbs are good for you
Great for me. No carbs no business. But not so good for my pts
Even "healthy" carbs trigger sugar cravings and bingeing for me.

How do one weigh protein and fat on a ribeye .
It's difficult to do. Use an online calorie app to get the average value. Supplement with butter, brains, bone marrow, kidney fat, heavy cream, and/or fat trimmings.
My BUN was 34
