    I've been on keto for 6 years. I reached my optimum weight within 6 months and found it was easy to fall below what I consider a healthy weight. (I base healthy weight on how I feel and look). Eating once a day after reaching my optimum weight was not allowing me to be healthy and I didn't want to eat 2 meals. I ate until I was full but found it wasn't enough to stay and look healthy. I love coffee so I decided to put butter, coconut oil and a small shot of heavy crème together and blend it in a bullet, it is a delicious blend of fat and energy. According to this it is a meal but it keeps me from becoming a skeleton and I usually have 2 or 3 throughout the day. I love this way of eating and haven't been sick since I started keto. I'm 67, on zero medications and zero aches and pains. I have ton's of energy and stay outdoors as much as possible. I sleep a minimum of 9 hours and never need a nap. Treat your body right and you will be rewarded with a most enjoyable life. In other words, don't just listen to Dr. Cywes, take advantage of the knowledge he is unselfishly sharing with you and do it, you won't regret it.
    BTW, after watching this I will go back to at least 2 meals a day, never knew it was a negative to stay OMAD. Thank you Dr. Cywes!!!

      I'm 66 and been lo carb since the pandemic started. I lost the 12-15 pounds I'd always wanted to and now hover within 1-3 pounds. Never felt better and no meds either.

      Please can you share your exact recipe for coffee so I can taste and see if it is something I would like? I have yet to find black coffee tasty. Some say they put cocao in theirs terrible taste. Sometimes I believe some people just eat whatever even if it taste bad, as long as they are getting the benefit from the food.

      @@blackdiamond2977 tablespoon of cold pressed coconut oil, table spoon of grass-fed butter, tablespoon of heavy cream. Mix with instant coffee. I put it in a blender or a bullet to get it frothing. Oh yeah, stevia if needed.

    Bridges are key.... coffee and tea. Two meals a day in a 6-8 hour window....... 95% of the time. I'm not perfect. When I do snack it is meat based.

    I like OMAD. I exercise in a fasted state which feels wonderful. Fasting is so easy because you don’t have to do anything and you’re not always thinking about eating. I’ve been on OMAD 6 years now.

      I exercise also after fasting and I am hungry almost the entire time that I exercise in the morning. Exercising is the only time I am hungry, except for doing sit ups. The hunger pains fade for the time I do the sit ups, but they are back again once I start on the leg lifts.

    Completely agree w/"do what suits you" as for meal times. I'm done listening to people tell me how "bad"/"counter-productive" /etc. it is to eat between 6pm & midnight. It's simply what works well for me~ and for my husband. We don't need or think about food until at least 5pm, it's just how it is, so we wait to eat until we can sit down together~ whether that be 5pm or 9pm. We are adults, & we are responsible for our health, for our quality of life!
    We have coffee in the morning, & my husband often has coffee a few more times throughout the day. He enjoys it, & always has~ even when we were carb eaters, prior to a couple of years ago. It's been nice to keep that consistent, & same goes for our walks, swimming, and/or going to the gym together. We enjoy it, & we like doing things together~ always have.
    Most days, we eat one meal, & once or twice a week, we eat twice a day. We just eat a whole lot of delicious meat, & not much of anything else~ maybe some cole slaw or green beans once in a while, or even a steak salad~ because we like them. =)
    We have slimmed down, trimmed up, gained even more muscle, & have amazing labs @56 & 61 yrs old. My husband's quality of life is my priority, & I am his. It suits us well.

    About 3 months after starting LCHF/keto about 5 years ago, I realised I was simply not hungry in the morning and, though I'd always eaten breakfast until then, I simply had a couple of cups of coffee with a little heavy cream, just enough to take the "edge" off it early in the morning. Been doing that ever since. In my experience, 2 meals a day came naturally: nobody told me to do it.

    I've been keto.4.3 years and eat when I am hungry and find most days are 2mad. As a binge eater in remission I also am very aware if I allow myself to get to hungry, it can trigger a binge episode. I recently had to self evaluate because I allowed carb creep and drinking calories between meals. Great message .

    Can I come out of the wood shed yet? Humility restored. You got me out of the 400 club, I have to work harder to stay out of the 300 club now. It's horrible to look in the mirror and see the stretch marks and excess skin, the damage I did to my body for years. It's not about weight it's health now.

    Great video. I've been keto for almost 3 years. Been at goal weight for about 2 years. Omad Mon-Fri & 2mad on weekends. I do have a coffee with full cream milk on weekdays after ~ 15hr fast, so maybe that's technically 2mad. I listen to my body & eat when I'm hungry & to satiety. It's truly so easy. I feel I'm so fat adapted that even if I have a treat meal, I can resume normal eating the next day with no hunger pangs (blood sugar lows). I know most people find eliminating carbs almost entirely, unthinkable, yet when you do it properly, it's easy, intuitive & sustainable.

    Hi Dr. Cywes. I've been Keto/Carnivore for years and have followed you and Dr. Berry the whole time. I've done it all. I've been in most of the Groups, I've listened to everybody's suggestions and demands, tried it, failed, tried again, failed... etc. Like you're saying, I have found 2MAD to be the best for me. How did I find out? Trial & error. Not from listening to some new Guru, fanatic, or someone trying to sell supplements, but trying it all myself. IMO: Everyone should be doing this and finding their comfort zone.

    I am 9 days into OMAD during the week and 2MAD on weekend. Felt great, but then yesterday I was weak (literally) and had an emotional event. I woke up this a.m. and just started again. It was a mistake, but I don't regret it either. It is all a learning process.

    I lost 35 pounds with OMAD and extended fasting over a span of 10 months. It worked, however for me personally it was not sustainable over a longer period of time and started to gain the weight back. I found 2 meals a day with a healthy diet as the best balance.

    I really appreciate these recent videos clarifying the difference between chronic insulin resistance, the theraputic period to re-establish insulin sensitivity, and then the (hopefully) rest of your life where you are insulin sensitive and can eat a more varied diet, just avoiding the really obvious pitfalls like sugary snacks and drinks with 0 nutrition that will force your body into insulinr esistance again.

    You always seem to read my mind. I'll echo what's been said here a few times, this was exactly what I needed. I've watched it twice now and my former confusion has abated.
    I've been comfortably OMAD for over a year and it felt...weird and right. Learning to listen to my body, something you and I talked about recently, made a huge change for me. I love how you said not to "set" fasting, to let it flow from your natural day, that was a wonderful philosophy. Whenever I attempted to set a time limit, I ended up failing. When I naturally fasted, it was effortless.
    The biggest thing you and Dr. Brewer have done for me personally is showing how YOU truly understand us because you ARE us. Thank you so much. 💓

    Thanks Dr Rob, your videos have helped me tremendously. For the last 2 years I've eaten 1 or 2 meals a day. I now mostly eat 2 starting after 16 - 18 hours fasting. I was pre-diabetic, snacked frequently and weighed 178 pounds at 5 feet 7 inches. Now I am 132 pounds and my HbA1C is good and my triglycerides are low normal. I am 76 and still an active walker and cyclist and hope to have a few more good years yet.

    I am down to OMAD and it is greatly helping. I never thought I was overeating like I was! I feel much better now not putting food in my mouth so much. I am free to go out and do things without worrying about eating first. My grocery bill is half now and I don’t need to be in the store all the time getting things. This advice is priceless and this Dr is truly trying to help people.

    I love you called BS on the meal timing. I'm hungriest at night. Eating makes me sleepy and when fasted I have a hard time falling asleep.... I feel like my body has given me all the information I need for meal timing. Sorry science, I'm trusting common sense on this one.

      Not everyone is the same. You could be an outlier. Physicians always concentrate on those individuals who are the "norm". Out of curiosity, are you eating carbohydrates when you get sleepy? Carbohydrates make most people sleepy. Now that I switched to the ketovore diet, I am not sleepy after eating ever. Dr. Cywes's advice typically assumes that someone is on the keto, ketovore, or carnivore diet. There is a big difference between people on the various diets.

      @@alexr6114 I get tired either way. Carbs for sure, but anytime I put something in that needs digestion, I significantly slow down. I've had sleep and fatigue problems my entire adult life, so I'm sure I am an outlier. So often I feel hungry but I know if I eat anything more than a couple hundred calories, I'm likely not gonna wanna do anything for a couple hours, so it's always a trade off for me if I'm feeling hungry. I am like 95+% carnivore for the last couple years. I pretty much only am not when I go out to eat with family or friends which is infrequent, so a normal snack or small meal for me is like half a lb to a lb of ground beef.

      @@dreaminginnoother Have you had the four or five tests to determine whether you may have a problem with your thyroid? This is likely if you grew up or still live near the great lakes area of the Midwest. Dr. Ken Berry has a RUclips video that goes over all the tests that are necessary, most physicians do not do enough testing to determine whether someone has a thyroid problem. It strikes me that unless you are referring to just a little bit sleepy, you need to get a really good physical to determine what the problem is. Based on your photograph you are not that old so you should not be that tired after eating. While you are at it you might also get your testosterone levels checked, but most men have healthy levels of testosterone on the carnivore diet.

      @alexr6114 I have had multiple thyroid panels done by specialists in my area. This picture is like 15 years old that RUclips randomly picked for me from my early video. But that's also around the time I did that testing. I don't trust the medical establishment at all anymore after going to countless doctors for fatigue. Nothing came up out of range. I have had candida issues that have largely resolved with carnivore but fatigue persists.

      @@dreaminginnoother Are you sleeping well or could it be that you are under a lot of stress? I have been tired since I was 15 years old. The only times that I am not tired are when I am on vacation. I suspect that my fatigue is the result of boredom and/or stress. However, you are a male and typically men seem to not feel as fatigued as women and when they do, often their is an underlying medical cause (I do not mean to imply that fatigue in women is in their heads, but rather, women seem to suffer from fatigue much more than men). You could try sending your blood work to Dr. Cywes's group. He charges for a consultation, but I suspect that his office can give you a quote for roughly how much an initial examination of your blood work and other tests would cost. If he can find the cause you may just beat your fatigue.

    Thank you. I've been on Keto since Dec. 17 and lost 42 Lbs & resolved T2D & other things. One fantastic side effect from all this is that my Allergies (severe 4++) and Asthma have gone way down. I don't take antihistamines every day and I have stopped all asthma medications. Then I realized I've stopped putting grass in my system!!

    Hey Dr. Cywes, I have a live and in person appointment with you 9 days and looking forward to it. I have been 2mad carnivore for almost just over 3 months and it wasn't until I went full carnivore that I could distinguish emotional snacking from biological snacking but it is super easy now. Like you, my urge to snack is a late night thing but now I can stop and actually hear my body when I ask if I want to snack because I am hungry (which is never no) or just an emotional event (which is of course what is happening). I appreciate the carb addiction approach more than any other way to take control of my eating so thank you so much for being here on YT where I found you. Looking forward to meeting you in person!

    For about a year I did a lot of experimentation. OMAD, 2MAD from 17:7 to 20:4, eat as often as I want within a 6 hr window. After a year I settled on 18:6 2MAD lunch and dinner, sometimes OMAD sometimes shorter eating window. I lost my last 30lbs and I've maintained for two years. Never hungry, feel great.

    So glad that RUclips recommended this video. The information about transitioning back to 2 or 3 meals a day is key to making low carb/keto/etc work long term. I haven’t seen any other popular “keto” channel talk about that, because most of them just parrot what they see from other channels.

      Some physicians push the fasting to an extent that I think is very unhealthy unless a person is very overweight. To go for three or four days without any food at all for most people who are only slightly overweight seems excessive.

    One of the best discussions I’ve heard on this topic. Low carb/carnivore since 2016. However, with a few relapses back to carbs along the way. Carnivore now but have been wrestling between omad and 2mad the last couple months. Some days omad is perfect but other days I really need 2mad due to hunger. Caloric needs seem to vary day to day. Per Shawn Baker’s book I’m now trying intuitive eating and this is working better. Your video really reinforces this message. Thank you! Appreciate all you do. This was just what I needed to hear now.

    I love this. I got the Duo. 328 start lost until 162 fluctuated , I basically started to eat medium portions , I like carbs. I gained until 198. I added Glp1, it it helping me not eat and my Duo is kicking in again. I'm so thankful, that you did this video. I'm going through it now. Today I made it to 179 my goal is 145... ❤I watch your videos I learn soo much. I have a fasting application and I have my fitness pal. These are awsome tools. I'm not hungry all the time. I have to force myself to eat. I did start phentermine to help with hunger because it creeped up on me one night. I'm glad I did. Thank you for doing this channel.

    I've had a few people ask me what I eat and when I eat. What works for me is 2MAD since I was pretty much doing that before LCHF. That being said if I get hungry in the morning I will have some eggs and cheese. I've noticed on those days my dinner tends to be light. A lot of it is just listening to my body and being flexible with 16:8. I do know that adding in more exercise and resistance training has changed things for me and I am more cognizant of my energy levels in relation to meals.

    Didn’t realize until one of your recent videos that you trained in Ann Arbor. What a great fellowship you went through! My wife and I lived outside of Ann Arbor in the early 90 s in Chelsea. I spent my career at GlaxoSmithKline and have fond memories of working with the staff at the University hospitals and yes I do remember that Wendy’s! 😂

    My drink fist thing in the morning is a long sugarless Espresso cofee. Bridge 750 ml. beverage all day is warm green tea with lots of grated ginger and half a lime.On IF and on two meals a day.Lowest of the lowest carbs.No snacks.Thanks Doc.     This makes such perfect sense. It’s all about sustainability, isn’t it. In my case, I am nearly at my target weight and looking for where to go from here. I satisfy my cravings on OMAD with fruity flavored herbal teas during the day but it’s been a struggle to keep the electrolytes up during the hot summer months.

    Absolutely correct. Case by case. Person by person. No one size fits all. Certain your bariatric surgery patients eat several very small meals for the first year and sometimes two years. How often and what to eat? Depends on age, race, activity levels, sleep patterns, goals, lifestyle, present health status,.... Personally love 6 small meals a day. Est. 35 grams of protein per meal. I am not like Dr. Baker who can eat 2 lbs of beef in one meal. My diet is: Eggs, chicken breast, lean beef, seafood, milk, cheese, yogurt, sometimes coffee. Sometimes eat and walk at the same time. I lost 100 lbs. In one year (2020). Now want to eat in a small surplus to bulk up with lean muscle. Building muscle though resistance training is one of the main keys to life. The more muscle tissue, the higher BMR. Hard dieting / fasting will crash testosterone levels, cause sleep issues and cause a person to lose muscle tissue.

      You are correct, my surgery was in 2001. I personally eat calories (carnivore foods) about 5 times a day. Fast with the seasons, 4 times a year. Maintaining at about 160"' at 5ft 4in. Size 4. Everyone needs to find what works for them. Husband is omad during the week. On weekends eats 3 times. He still has weight to lose, he is still having carb addiction issues.

    Hi Dr Cywes, I’m sorry if my comment doesn’t directly relate to this video but I wanted to comment to your latest in the hope that you will see this, after just having been binge-watching some more of your videos. I find your channel to be one of the most helpful after learning a lot about Keto and low carb from the likes of the low carb down under sessions. I am a carb addict and the realisation of what this truly means was one of the lowest points of my life and I am still struggling with this. The comment that I would like to make is that whilst I have been overweight, with Keto and 0 carb I have managed to get to a comfortable weight but at no time have I been diagnosed as pre-diabetic or recognised myself or been recognised as being fat. You often state that unless you are sick or fat you are not an addict. Unfortunately after 151 days of 0 carb, 8 weeks ago I crashed and burned, for a variety of triggering incidents. Hearing you say that it’s only fat people with an addiction is hard as it really plays into triggers. I am working hard to get back to keto but my addict brain is putting up obstacles on an hourly basis. Would you mind not saying that it is only fat or diabetic people who have carb addiction please? Thank you :)

    I love this message. I’ve been following Dr. B’s “Diabetes Solution” for 4 years & eventually found myself more and more carnivore. I tried OMAD for a year, but finally went to 2 meals a day. I start my day with 3 pasture raised eggs & end the day with some kind of protein (grass fed beef, chicken, beef liver, seafood, etc). Since I’m a T1LADA this has leveled out my BG and made everything better.

    In 2018 I went keto at the age of 75. I lost 95 lbs., and people told me I was too skinny. (The technicians and surgeons appreciated this when I had AAA surgery). Now after 4 years of mostly low carb I'm back to craving carbs to the point I can't resist. This is contributed to by the fact that in 2020 I began high intensity resistance training (per Dr Doug McGuff). I find it hard to balance getting enough to repair my muscles and staying low body fat.

      So let yourself some after 6 month had a breakdown could not eat keto anymore so my daughter bought me some sweat keto treats made from dates so I ate half with coffee and my cravings for sweats stopped find a solution or you will start overeating again people are too rigid in their diet and at the end they break

    Love this! Perfect timing as several ketovore people I follow are tweaking their diet to Dr Boz’s approach for their mental and physical health. It leaves me wondering how a person can know which path is or will work best for them as they progress (therapeutic Keto, Carnivore, ketovore). I suppose trial & error plus how insulin sensitive one is. Seems like an ever changing continuum that we need to adjust as our bodies become healthier?     Hello Dr Cywes, I love your videos especially as they relate to carb addiction. Almost one year ago, I got into fasting. Three days per week, and transitioned to OMAD after 75 days. Even before I lost 10 lbs, I managed to drop 2 BP meds (150/110 even on meds) and reverse what I'm sure was pre-diabetes. In less than 3 weeks, my BP normal. In those 75 days, I lost 40 lbs. In the last 9 months, I have been doing OMAD to maintain my healthy weight and keep my BP under control with no meds. My version of OMAD is more like 3 hour eating window. I try to reduce carbs but it hard sometimes. I agree with you that two meals a day is very good goal over the long term. However, I still stick with my modified OMAD because when I try introducing more meals, I find I am unable to tame the carb addiction for the longer period of time. I agree that we need to do what works for us individually and keeps us insulin sensitive. Keep up the good work!

    I did this! I use to be insulin resistant and would get hangry but over time I have worked my way from snacking every few hours, to three meals a day, to two meal a day to ultimately one meal a day, comfortably. I seem to feel better with one meal a day with less inflammation. I am def not keto because I will have the in-season nectarine but protein and fat is always the staple. Still work to do, but you will see progress over time! Keep going! Thanks Dr. Rob!

    I mix it up and swing between strict carnivore, to keto, OMAD or TMAD or fasting simply by listening to my body. Lost 43lb steadily over the last 5 months, 9lb to goal weight. I sometimes track meals and macros, sometimes don't. I make a point of tracking if and when I feel I'm reaching for snacks that I know I don't need, or if I feel potential carb creep may be an issue.

    Been doing Carnivore for 3 months...I eat when I'm hungry. I used to be a big "snacker" because I would try to follow a "fitness" diet where you count macros and would eat 5-6 meals a day...and even though I was in a calorie deficit, I would plateau very quickly....and I would be ravenous often. A lot of times I'd be counting the minutes to my next "meal," even if it was just a 300 calorie protein bar. When I first started Carnivore, maybe the first 2-3 weeks I was eating 3 meals a day...but I was never ravenous. Eventually I got to one meal a day for about a month, but as time has gone on I have migrated back to 2 meals a day and for me that is plenty. There have been times where I don't get a good night sleep, and I wake up wanting to eat the walls. When that happens I will eat breakfast, and I fully intend to eat lunch as sell, but my body doesn't get hungry until late afternoon and I end up having an early dinner. If I listen to my body, I have no desire to eat more than twice. In the last few weeks I've tried to get back to OMAD, but my body doesn't feel like like that is enough...so I am sticking to 2 meal for now. I figure as I get more insulin sensitive my body will gravitate to one meal..but if it doesn't, it doesn't. I am not losing weight the last month, but I am also not gaining weight. But I no longer get ravenous (unless I sleep poorly which is rare)...I no longer feel the hunger or emotional need to snack. That is a big win for me. I'm trusting the process and recognizing it took 40+ years to get my insulin resistance where it is, it's going to take a year or more to get that fixed...and the only way is to follow the best practices outlined by Doc. Used to be a big coffee drinker...I drink black coffee when I wake up in the morning to give me a boost...but it's not enjoyable...but I don't want to put heavy cream or MCT into it because I want a clean fast. My bridge has become flavored seltzer water (no sugar or artificial sweeteners)...it really helps not think of food when you need that mind cleansing moment.

    I had a gastric by-pass in 2000. I still have a small stomach. If I eat OMAD, I stall my weight loss, (cause I gained in COVID,) and I refuse to stretch it out again. 3 meals, on a protein shake, and 2 carnivore, mostly, meals. Snacking is always an issue for me, but not as much anymore. After 7 at night, I should lock the fridge. Its a lifetime journey.

    I love your videos ! This was a complete circle of the journey.. I am just over 4 years in , mainly carnivore for the last few years .. I’ve been listening to you about insulin suppression and I’m trying to eat 2 meals a day .. but I usually end up with one .. except weekends ! I do drink coffee and I use heavy cream 3 times a day so I’m hoping that helps me produce a little insulin !

    this message is what i needed to confirm my hunch that protein needs to be a eatenĺ little often not in one or two big gorging sessions, and wont build much muscle if im losing fat.

    I practice 'autophagy fasting" usually 48 hours weekly....mainly for 2 reasons....#1 to use up the broken proteins and tighten my skin and #2 to break my evening snack routine.

    I have an extremely hard time reaching my maintenance of 1800 calories/day. I eat mostly butter, beef, & eggs. But I get full really fast. With my work schedule I struggle to get to 3 meals, but 2 meals is not enough to get to 1800 calories, even with snacks. Today I pushed myself hard, 2 snacks, 1 a can of sardines & Tbls of butter, 1 a paleovalley meat stick & 2 tablespoons of butter. I still only hit 1450 calories. I had steak for one meal & homemade baked wings for 2nd meal (only salt on both meals). I intentionally ate past satiety both meals. I am so tired of feeling FULL all the time. My digestion has been fine, no diarrhea, no constipation, no discomfort. I feel better in many ways (other than constantly feeling like I ate too much) & my body composition changes have been great. I lost 3 lbs of actual fat in 3 months (I had just lost 15lbs in the 5 months prior on keto, so I was already fat adapted when I started carnivore 3 months ago). Any tips on how to increase calories without feeling like I’m doing some weird “it’s thanksgiving everyday” torture on myself? Prior to carnivore I started tracking my food & found on keto I was severely under eating (less than 1,000 calories/day)! That was a shock because I ate twice a day to satiety. I am wondering if the extended fasts I did during covid maybe messed up my hormone receptors for hunger & satiety? I absolutely loved fasting, I never did more than 4 fasts per year, but one year I did a 3, 5 & 6 day fast, then a 9 day fast. I felt amazing & wanted to go past 9 days, but had a family trip coming up so I decided to start refeeding prior to the trip so that I could do so with care & intention. I have both done any fasts in over a year, not even a quick 24hr

    What works for me is pretty much eating beef bacon butter and eggs. Are used to be intermittent fasting eating between 11 and 1 o’clock. But now I find myself getting hungry and eating by 9 AM and just having two eggs and some sort of meat. That I don’t eat for hours like I won’t eat until dinner I do zero snacking. There really are no snacks at work for me. I can’t eat cheese because it triggers my asthma and it processed snacks even if they’re keto or low-carb just don’t sound appetizing. I feel great and I’ve lost weight since April

    I some days have a meal, and other days I have three meals. It depends. Most often in the evening it is a 1cm cube of butter or two or some other small thing. I am not always hungry enough anymore for three standard meals. I often wake up super early and so hungry I just naturally get up and cook. I used to find having breakfast meant I was hungry very often, but that was when I was having mostly plant. No one told me that was unhealthy, but I found out with help after being severely ill with metabolic problems and after a hospital visit. I said no to an operation and want to heal my organs, not have them cut up or out. Only a month or two ago. This makes more sense I never heard of this before, just eating meat or mostly meat. I have not added in veg yet, trying to get up courage. As a young lass I had to convince my self that I loved veg because that was what I was given growing up. I was starved and fat, and I did not grow into my proper height, though I am within average acceptable height. I found I eat a lot less if I eat the fatty meat, eggs, etc. Maybe I will get to one meal a day a bit more soon. I had a stage where I was eating a lot because I was so sick that I was digesting my own body fat! I do not recommend having 7000 lipase in order to chew up 20kg! Not fun at all. I am still wondering if I should at or not. Sometimes I feel a bit sick from food, so I have a way to go. I find the new way is sort of slower but more sustained and reliable in some way (?) I'd love a video about that.

    I eat two solid food meals a day about 20 grams carb. I had to edit this because I forgot to say I eat solid food between 11 and 7 Coffee with cream at 5 AM . Just started this .

    I snack in the evenings, 1 snack (glass) of red wine during and after dinner! 2 meals a day work for me. I now keep a log of what I eat every day and therefore I know what my fat/protein/carb percentage intake is every day. I am pretty close to 60/30/10; it varies and carbs can be as low as 5% and up to 20%, but try and keep it close to 10%. Budget is 1700 to 2000 cals per day. Works for me! Occasionally I would do OMAD, but I prefer 2.

    Rob, Some of the flapping gums on internet are also reputable researchers and scientists but have quite different views to each other (and you). This is what I find so incredibly frustrating and confusing. If even you scientists can’t agree what hope have we got?

      Separating science from belief is so important. Also understanding where a person comes from and where they currently are along that journey. Context is required to apply science to humans. Most internet gumflappers are fixated on static timepoints. That's why my videos are based on a continuum

      Yes I agree. As a 63 year old Woman (a New Zealander living in Australia) with hashimotos disease and metabolic and obvious hormonal issues I am continually searching for that way of eating that will enable me to lose the 10 kg (yes that’s all it is) to return my bmi to the healthy range. I’ve cut the carbs but now of course have learned I also have to cut the fat. This is proving even harder. I only eat twice a day, my numbers are good but i know now fat is not free as I originally believed. The story has definitely changed.

    Dr Cywes, you said that long-term insulin suppression is not good. Could you please explain why is that from a biochemical point of view?
    I remember Dr Ben Bikman once explained the difference between pathological and physiological insulin resistance and that ketogenic lifestyle doesn't not cause any insulin resistance. It is just beta cells start to degrade stored insulin vesicles when not used for long time to be recycled.
    I would appreciate your perspective on this issue.

    I've been OMAD for a few years now... Rarely am I able to eat a second meal! But, if like you said, consuming any drinks with calories/nutrition counts, I guess I'm 2mad because I always have some milk in the morning, and on mornings when I don't drink any straight milk, my morning coffee (sometimes two cups) are half-and-half milk/coffee, occasionally with a tbsp of raw honey (the honey is more typical in winter, because strep keeps trying to get me when the temps drop and the sun's D goes away, and the honey gets it to eff off every time! 🤣🤣🤣

    According to my KetoMojo meter, I have not been in in ketosis for over 8 weeks!. I am eating TMOD, and keeping my macros every day to within the limits as documented in the CarbManager app! My planned macros are 108.8g protein, 109g fat, 18g net carbs and 1488 calories. I go through every workday with my bridge (plain black coffee) , which also keeps my hands warm in our offices. I'm not hungry during the day, and I am done with food by 5:30pm. I'm eating the foods I like, not like before with the WW and the others, so I don't get it.
    I'm not sure if this is normal, having my body adapt to my food intake, but what worries me is that after decades of yo-yo dieting, maybe I have messed up my bodies "normal." Just thought I would throw this out there, and check on others experience in their lives. Has such a thing happened to you?

      You probably are just consuming too many carbs for you. Everyone's carb threshold is different. I personally can only have 20 TOTAL carbs, or less, for me to stay in ketosis. Net carbs is just a gimmick used in order to eat more carbs.

    Well, how do we know when we’ve arrived at being insulin sensitive again? How will we know when it’s ok to start incorporating other foods? I’ve been carnivore for 2 months and am healthy. Mostly just love carnivore food!
