there are no stop and ID states. All states they must have a specific reason that they suspect you of being involved in a crime before you are required to provide ID.
"A crime has to be committed, for LE to demand your ID". Got you by the balls in Walmart, because THEY CAN FRAME YOU, CREATE A CRIME.
Unfortunately, you didn't provide guidance if they give you a reason that you don't believe is a crime. Then you end up debating with the officer about whether their reason is a crime, which is not a good situation. I suppose the next step is to have the officer contact a supervisor.
Law enforcement in Michigan are not that intelligent, polite or compliant to the constitution, obstruction is always there first response. Simon says or else.
Well what happens when your the passenger in a car at a traffic stop the cop asks you get out and puts you in handcuffs on you says your being detained. He puts handcuffs on the driver while he was still sitting in the vehicle. We are not armed, not violent, not trying to flee. Cooperative 100-%
Michigan is a stop and I'd state, but a law cannot override a constitutional right. Just as a state rd will never override an interstate highway.

They're not supposed to run your plate either if there's no traffic offense but in walker/standale Michigan they will run your plate to see if there is an offense. For example friend of mine just pulled out of the bank. A Walker cop pulled him over and said the plate was expired. Then the cop told him well it all looked legal because the renewal tag was the right color for that year and would not have known if he hadn't run it. If there's a Walker cop behind you at a light or at your back quarter on Michigan, can almost guaranteed they run your plate.
