You’re only really thinking about qb’s. Their are a multitude of players who have amazing seasons but are not a big enough position or factor to carry their teams into the playoffs. for example, I’m pretty sure Derrick Henry would’ve ended up being the #1 rb if playoffs were taken into account, even though CMC is better overall and also prolly would’ve had a good post season.
There were a couple of clips where people are talking about the playoffs. So I think it was at least January. Go watch Derrick Henry’s video towards the end they are talking about the Ravens vs Titans playoff game.

Chiefs were not down 24-0 to Houston because of Mahomes. His receivers were dropping the ball the entire first quarter. There was a blocked punt TD for Houston right after Kelce dropped an easy 3rd down conversion. Tyreek Hill dropped a Houston punt at the 5 yard line and gave Houston an easy 7 points.
Yeah and they blew a coverage to give Houston an easy TD as well.

Pat was hurt during both the Colts and Texans game, which is why he ultimately got injured the next week vs Denver; They even had a running stat during those 2 games showing his numbers in those games before he got his ankle retweeked and after, and the difference was obvious; His only other loss last year was vs. the Titans, first game back and he couldn't really run; IMO, when he was healthy last year, Pat was 14-0 including playoffs; As a Chiefs fan, having watched this kid play 2 seasons, I don't worry about losing any game he starts...dude is too clutch.

He balled out with injuries all around him. He's not overrated at all. He has earned all the hype. Lamar is the real one who is overhyped as the best player in the league.

That game is houston, guys we’re dropping balls like crazy, Tyreek turned the ball over that placed houston right in the red zone. A kick was blocked and houston got a td off that. So that’s 14 points on two turnovers that had nothing to do with Mahomes.
But the team made up for it.
Titans game too, there were 2-3 dropped passes early on as well and Mahomes wasn’t even played bad by any means that game he just wasn’t throwing lights out until the second quarter
@@djr3385 Based n your logic the same could be said about the Ravens Titans game. There were some very ugly drops in that game that should have been catches. Which would have definitely swung the momentum in the Ravens favor. Everyone is pointing to 1 game and saying Lamar doesn't deserve to be #1 because he FINALLY had a bad game (at the worst time) but that man played lights out all season. So domination was his play that multiple games he sat out the fourth quarter because it was already over.

Seattle runs a balanced offense where they run and throw about equally. That helps take the pressure off Russ and helps the offensive line not have to pass protect as much. When Russ has had higher passing attempts in his career, his efficiency went down.

First of all. This aint even that serious. Ya'll need to relax.
Second of all, the players had to vote in November. So by the time the NFL got all the votes, the playoffs didnt even start. Lamar separated himself from the MVP race by December. And Mahomes was also hurt for a few games and we saw his numbers fall off.
The only reason I can think as to why Mahomes was 4 last year was that he was neck and neck with Brees and didnt pull through until near the end of the season. I remember him going on a tear in the last few weeks of the season to establish himself as MVP.
People just didn’t want to give Mahomes the MVP because Brees hasn’t won one but Mahomes was my MVP probably by that Rams game on MNF and the Ravens OT win just solidified it.

Idk if Skip has seen the All 22 footage for that play, but Mahomes threw that ball early and into space with pretty incredible anticipation and under significant duress. Shannon was right in saying 2 people could complete that throw, Rodgers and Mahomes. That was not a lucky throw at all, it was one of the best throws of the year.

Lamar had one of the greatest seasons of any player in any sport. More impressive than any other NFL player in history. The ranking is not about who is the best. The players actually play against each other so that factors in the rankings too. Pat also has a better offense around him so its not all on him like Lamar. Lamar's team failed him where Pat's team saved him.

I pretty much totally agree with Shannon, yeah Lamar deserved MVP, but Mahomes is definitely still the best player. If the voting is before the playoff, I guess it’s not utterly ridiculous that Mahomes wasn’t number one, but even at that point of the season I still thought Mahomes was the best, even though once again yes, Lamar deserved MVP.

If you watch the NFL video of the top players, it's the players that choose the top players. Some players see players more in the season in their division. If you got someone balling out against you in that year you're going to remember it and put them in your top 10 or top 20. Pat MacAffee game a little breakdown of how it worked when he went to the pro bowl, and had a chance to vote on the top players of that year. I think the pro bowlers votes have more weight to them as far as how the top 10 are ranked.
