For anyone starting its pretty difficult when your learning but to make it more fun I'd say buy the emrald coast and high calibre pack and run up the beach at 17 to 20 there's crocs bantang and foxes that all pay over 1000
First animal I ever killed on silver ridge peaks was a diamond mule deer immediately after I spawned in. I also was setting up just to get a diamond red stag on emerald and I got it in the first zone that I discovered that wasn’t already on my map so you will get good kills just walking around
little tips for you, you can set your tents on top of the resting zones, when you fast travel they dont spooke right away and its a lot easier and faster to hunt then that away, and if you set your timer for 1700 there will be benting and foxes along the beach, both paying more then 1k too, you can make like 30-50k in 25-30 minutes i guess
TLDR; your first recommendation should be pay to win. I am by no means a new player. I bought the game in 2021, harvested one black bear, and let the game collect dust until 2 months ago, since then i put 30 hours into the game and really gave it a shot. i knew it was always DLC heavy but after paying $30 for it the least they can do is not turn features from the base game into DLC's like the ATV'S, Blinds, and tents. as much as i want to like this game its a cash grab. i scouted out every trade post and outlook in both hirschfelden and Layton lake 3 years ago and came back to all my maps reset. i'd say they want to punish free to play gamers but the base game wasn't even free, they actively punish people who bought the game for not also buying DLC's and no one talks about it. in 2 years the game will be a decade old, i'd rather actually go buy small game tags and hunt irl than spend that money on a DLC for a game thats closing in on a decade old. thanks for the information, its valuable to people who have more than 2 maps.
Trying to get into the game but every time i play animals get spooked even tho i walk slow as Christmas use my spray and im down wind from em wtf am I doing wrong ive hunt irl killed 3 deer in my life not saying im skilled by any means because obviously im not but what am i doing wrong it pisses me off i played for two hrs everything got spooked only killed one animal a bison took like six shots to down it
Even if you're just walking, things will spook within around 100m depending on the foliage you're going through, the backpack you have on, wind direction or the individual senses of the animals. Certain animals have better sight, hearing or scent then another one (Snow Leopards are a big challenge in terms of senses). I personally start to crouch at around 100m-75m if I'm trying to get a close-up shot on said animal. Different animals require different caliber ammo, even if it's a bison as you said and you're using proper ammo, it all depends on the shot placement. I hunt Vurhonga alot and even with the .300 it's still a challenge to take down cape buffalo, buffalo/bison hide is very tough, so you need to learn where to place your shot to get the vitals as-well as the lead if it's further away, ex: going for the front of the lungs or the top of the lungs close to the spine is the most efficient way I've found to penetrate through that tough hide of a bison/buffalo from 100+ meters. Patience is also key, if you're not waiting for broadside, frontal or a decent quartering shot at the right range it might be hard to hit the vitals like you've intended to do. Hope that made some sense and helps you atleast a bit! :]
