I have lived a lot longer than you have and I know that alcohol just exacerbates our problems. I think you struggle with what your purpose in life is, and you are a person that wants to be in control of things in your life. It took me a long time to realize that control is an illusion. Life can change at any moment and we have no control over it. Mama Rose is correct, just be yourself. You don't have to achieve great things in life. But if you are a blessing to just one person, you have made a difference in the world. Keep that uncertaintly kumander. I think you questioning whether you're doing something excessively orotherwise, keeps you grounded. It's good to check on ourselves from time to time. I think unfortunate events happen so that we may take the time to look back and appreciate the person we have become, the things we have accomplished and to be reminded that life's just a cycle of good and bad things happening in our life. Things will eventually get better. We just have to keep our faith and hope alive. I'm on a similar journey of finding my place on this earth. KD, I've always found myself conflicted in life. Perhaps, no not perhaps but it's from my own choices. Throughout life I've always found myself going against the grain. What I've found in my 54 years of being on earth- life will always be hard, always a struggle. The angst and bitterness at a times throughout my existence. It was a hard, long and difficult road. One of the first steps to free myself was "Accept" whatever it is life will throw at you. Second- "Nothing lasts forever, only the moment" whether good or bad. And the trump card that beats them all. You have to question yourself everyday, EVERYDAY!! "What did I do today that is better than yesterday?" That is the to me the holy grail of questions. That will give you the answers and will give you even the smallest of victories that cause even the smallest feelings of being happy for your achievement that day. It will physiologically cause changes in you, it will internal chemical changes in you for the better, mentally, emotionally and physically. When I say you ask that question to yourself that day, even in the hardest of days, I mean it in the sense of what did you do better today than yesterday for humanity- did you bring up someone's spirits, did you help a person through a difficult day, did you help a nanay, tatay, child or animal that day. Even the smallest of victories can give you the best feelings which in return can cause a person to take on even bigger challenges and in return larger victories for ones self and for other human beings. Light up the darkness my friend and let the sun shine in. The fact that you question yourself on your purpose. That is in a sense a quest for you want your moral compass to point. Life translated through Kumander Daot, gives ALL OF US purpose.... family... I think what many do not understand about Filipino family life is separation. Families are often separated in order to work and survive. People may think there is problems in your family life because you leave for extended periods of time... or at least it looks as though you do. In reality we don't know what happens in real time. You don't capture every moment of every day. Some things just don't need to be shared.

Sometimes I do struggle to find answers to what is the purpose of life aside from our family, friends, and the things we want to happen, but if we believe in someone greater than us we know our sense of purpose. My approach to living is simply trying to be the best I can be in all facets of life and works well for me.

Having a drink now and then is ok, but only in moderation. Abusing anything is just wrong. We are in difficult times KD no doubt and your making adjustments is great. I think unfortunate events happen so that we may take the time to look back and appreciate the person we have become, the things we have accomplished and to be reminded that life's just a cycle of good and bad things happening in our life. Things will eventually get better. We just have to keep our faith and hope alive.

Well it's good that you raised your personal concerns about what holds the future. Because there may be more people around having similar concerns but do not have the capacity to bring it up. KD, I've always found myself conflicted in life. Perhaps, no not perhaps but it's from my own choices. Throughout life I've always found myself going against the grain. What I've found in my 54 years of being on earth- life will always be hard, always a struggle. The angst and bitterness at a times throughout my existence. It was a hard, long and difficult road.
One of the first steps to free myself was "Accept" whatever it is life will throw at you. Second- "Nothing lasts forever, only the moment" whether good or bad. And the trump card that beats them all. You have to question yourself everyday, EVERYDAY!! "What did I do today that is better than yesterday?" That is the to me the holy grail of questions. That will give you the answers and will give you even the smallest of victories that cause even the smallest feelings of being happy for your achievement that day. It will physiologically cause changes in you, it will internal chemical changes in you for the better, mentally, emotionally and physically.
When I say you ask that question to yourself that day, even in the hardest of days, I mean it in the sense of what did you do better today than yesterday for humanity- did you bring up someone's spirits, did you help a person through a difficult day, did you help a nanay, tatay, child or animal that day. Even the smallest of victories can give you the best feelings which in return can cause a person to take on even bigger challenges and in return larger victories for ones self and for other human beings. Light up the darkness my friend and let the sun shine in.
The fact that you question yourself on your purpose. That is in a sense a quest for you want your moral compass to point. More power to you KD!

Life translated through Kumander Daot, gives ALL OF US purpose.... family... I think what many do not understand about Filipino family life is separation. Families are often separated in order to work and survive. People may think there is problems in your family life because you leave for extended periods of time... or at least it looks as though you do. In reality we don't know what happens in real time. You don't capture every moment of every day. Some things just don't need to be shared.
