  • I replaced the heater core of my girlfriends 2008 Dodge Nitro 3.7 V6. I am hoping this video gives you some helpful tips. This is not to be a full step by step video, this is meant to help you get started and also to show how most of the dash comes apart.
One thing i forgot to mention in the video is you will need to refill your A/C after you do this job.

Great timing with the video. I'm doing my 2011 Jeep liberty. I couldn't believe they are the exact same thing. I have taken out all the screws, nuts, and bolts you have shown plus two more. However, the dash seems to be stuck still. The driver's side came loose but the middle and passenger side are solid. Any tips?

    • @ajohns1288

There are two bolts that hold the dash to the HVAC unit. There is a good guide for the Liberty here: www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=84546

Now that is why you never buy a Dodge. You have to take apart and build a whole car. I changed my heater core in my Gmc car twice in the 14 years I owed it in ONE hour. Just took the glove box out the there it was. 4 bolts and I was done.

  • @donaldbarr7995

First off thank you for the video. Second, my blend doors are not working properly, I have heat on the passenger side but not the drivers side. Do you think that I would be able to reach in a turn those doors to open them. I know that would in effect leave them in the same position all the time but I don't move it from defrost now. I don't need to move them once they are where they need to be for heat on both sides.

What i did was pull from one side, so i was in the passenger side and i tried to pull it from the corner, then i went to drivers side and pulled it from that corner. When i pulled it i noticed another bolt came off, which means i did miss one and it broke when i was pulling on it, however once i re assembled everything the dash sits just as solid as it did before i did this

Great video, thanks for posting it. Few questions:
    - did you remove the steering wheel or clock spring? Or just drop the column and laid it in the floor? I’ve seen several guys say that you need to pull the wheel, some the column
    - how difficult is it to get the dash itself back where it needs to go after you get the new heater core in? Does it pull straight out?
Did you have to actually remove the dash completely or was there enough room to get the air box out without removing it?
Thanks for your help! I’ll be tackling this in a few weeks!

    • @yigorv90
      @yigorv90  6 лет назад +2

Hey Mike im glad you liked the video. I did not remove the steering wheel or clock spring I just put the seat as far back as it wold go and carefully lowered the steering column. You are gona want to do it carefully because you can damage the clock spring. The dash is a pain in the ass and kind of heavy. I would suggest have two people pulling on each side when removing it. I was pulling straight out on it. Once I got all the bolts off it was still very stubborn to come off. Getting it back on was easier it pops in to place but it is much easier if you have two people on each side. There is not enough room to get the air box out without removing dash. You need to take it out completley because there are a bunch of screws that cannot be accessed if it is still in its place. Also be careful with the vent doors and some plastic pieces break very easily on it.

It's actually easier to replace the heater core in a w210 series Mercedes. If you look at the video the heater core is out only 4 min into the video.
    ruclips.net/video/I3OAiyX3mnM/видео.html
I recently did the heater core in my 2003 volvo wagon with 345k miles on the original heater core. It blew at my friends so I did it in his yard with random tools in his garage. It took just under two hours, which seems quick compared to this one, but on the series before this one, it took like 20 minutes and I think maybe a t-15 torx, a phillips screw driver and a garbage bag.
I think there must be a competition between auto designers on who can make the least user serviceable heater core installation.
Mercedes service manual ... "first remove the wipers..." what?
