- One of our favorite Skimboarding spots disappeared for a couple of years after the Hurricane Swell Marie. The beach is finally showing some signs of its return and we are very excited to see it.

Congratulations Blair, another great video, always with a very humble posture and showing the reality of things as they are. I am 36 years old, I abandoned a professional sport of high competition and I dedicated myself to leisure Skimboard here in Portugal which is a paradise to practice. The production value of your videos is much improved from a year ago. On a scale of 1-to-10, it's definitely borderline 11 now! You're making a technical and aesthetic art form out of skimming.

Blair is amazing. He runs SO fast he doesn't have to pump like most people.

I can run just as fast, super fast. But I CANNOT commit to dropping the board at that speed and getting on. It's a mental block that I KNOW is killing my progress and overall fun factor. I also live on Lake Michigan and we don't have near the wash-up that the ocean does. Makes it hard to learn your approach and get good at it.
Then again, maybe I'm just making excuses. Idk somebody set me straight or offer advice for lake shore skimming

when i was a kid in the 70 s we would body surf the slot at low tide, freight trains in front of the rock all the way 2 9th love2 c u guys catch 1 of those classic days

I appreciate that you are teaching the next generation. Fyi, don't make you beach hangout too close to the cliffs. Back in the 80's, a huge boulder dropped down. I guarantee that it is still apart of the landscape of 10th Street.

So, down the steps. They used to be wooden and it was safer to shimmy down the first cliff edge at 10th St. So. Laguna. AKA 1000 steps. What a great living history of that place.
Blair loves the cameraman more than the camera. Or his is just uncomfortable looking into the camera. Either way I enjoy his demeanor:)

Sick content! As always :D dude, you gotta get JOB on a skim 😂 I know it’s not his thing but Timmy....he mostly skates?! It shows in his skimming 😅 crazy how they crossover like that. Skimming - the perfect blend of skating and surfing! The ultimate transitional recreation 😆 B, could roll a log a PVC piping and use it as a rail (depending how the water and sand flow around it)?

if you want to catch West Street in its best conditions... it's when there is about 10 feet more of sand and at a negative tide. With a steep slope you will get some of the best waves in Laguna!! Back in the day you could always find a chunk of wax stashed in the rocks!! Saw a mother whale and her calf come into the cove twice.... surrounded by dolphin!! The beaches in Laguna change over decades... we caught some of the best you could ever imagine at West Street 80's-90's... Ask Geo and Beaker!!

It would be sick if you could add some other obstacles, maybe add a rail for board slides I've made some out of PVC pipe before in stuck them in the sand close to the shore break or in the flats. I even made one to skim board on top of my roof when it rains!

My first time at the beach in Laguna... We traveled from Orange to run against Laguna HS in Cross Country. I swear most of the 2-mile course was downhill, cuz I smoked my best time (JV race). When the meet was over, we had to wait for the "C" football team to finish playing. So we ran down to the beach in our uniforms, ditched our jerseys and shoes, and dove in. What's the significance? In September of 1968, it was still just flat boarding!

does anyone know how his board slides so well even on semi wet sand? I feel like my board sticks easier to even wet sand. Does he put like eel snot or another product on the bottom of it?
Laguna sand is actually just different in texture to most other places. Trying dropping on sand with a thin layer of water going down it. Your board won’t stick to that
