For her is no challenge, graduated Suma Cumlaude, Mayor's in Philosophy, Political Science,Communications, Minors in Ancient Greek and Rethoric, Fulbright scholarship to Britain. She is brilliant.
My sister is now blind after the removal of a pituitary gland tumor. She's 62. This happened 10 years ago. It was unexpected and she was never told that she might wake up after surgery without her sight in one eye and marginal sight in the other. She had to relearn how to get around, how to use technology, she now can't drive but is so strong, and learning to do things that I couldn't do even as a seeing person. She plays cribbage over the phone with friends, and hikes, she cooks for herself (amazing cookies) and she's still a high school teacher. I just can't even imagine. Don't take your sight for granted. I cant wait to see this movie.
I'm only 2 or 3 episodes in but she is just enchanting. I hope she gets to do many more parts in the future. I am also very impressed with the Louis Hofmann that plays Werner. I feel such empathy for this character. As Etienne says "he's a good man!".
This was a fantastic novel. Cannot wait to watch it and see Aria bring the role to life! (My mother is legally blind as well. Still lives on her own at 90!)
I saw all the serial in one evening i could not stop i was bewitched by the perfect perfotmance of all the actors respectt for this charming young actress
Just finished watching the series and my God it was absolutely beautiful! I simply clicked to see something new on Netflix and saw Mark Ruffalo's face on it and thought i'd give it a shot. I certainly didnt expect to be blown away by the actress. What a phenomenal job. And on a first acting role! Aria will certainly blow up after this role and hopefully it brings about more opportunities for blind people to acting!

I just finished this book (finally), unaware there was a film version coming out shortly. After seeing a trailer, I was already anxiuos to see how it would translate to film, and now, having seen and listened to Ms. Loberti, I'm further convinced that it will be a winner and totally looking forward to seeing it - and I was particularly struck by how this new actress expressed her sense of responsibility about depicting others who share her vision challenge. Bravo!
A brilliant Academic, legally blind, first role. An American lady with a brilliant mind ,education. Amazing biography. By the way one of the leaders of the French resisrance was totally blind. Love her photos with her gorgeous guide dog ,that was present during filming and let her know about obstacles. Now she is also studying for her Doctoral degree PHD. She is superwoman. For real.
There are many blind people that overcome and are professionals, in the #1 Cancer center in the USA, we had an exceptional medical tech that was complete blind, did not used a guide dog, took public transportation, very involved socially, young man, engaged and later married a doctor that was not blind. Aria is a perfect role for any woman of any condition.
In my case the series was so touching and beautifully made that I was eager to read the book. Aria in the role of Marie-Laure did an amazing job here. I was downright flabbergasted when I read that this was her first role as a blind actress. The same goes for Nell Sutton, the younger version of Marie-Laure. The father daughter relationship between Nell and her father was the sweetest thing to watch.
This film is one of the best films ever been made. The acting of all the cast is brilliant and believable and to have 2 blind girls is genius The music in the background is so powerful and adds to its pure and raw emotion.
She's from Johnston, Rhode Island. Go Lil Rhody! Go Aria! What a stunningly beautiful actress inside and out. True talent and inspiration! (RI roots here 😅😊)
This has made me curious. Didn't know about the book, either. This production looks precious, aware of someone experiencing the world differently, and caring with extra sensitivity.
Just watched the miniserie on Netflix and she was simply sensational. The whole cast and story are phenomenal. Such a sweet, difficult love story. Congrats on your success ❤❤
Shawn Levy seems like such an eminently kind and collaborative person from all the interviews I've seen with him. Seems like he truly loves working with actors.
It is an outstanding miniseries, as well, especially for today's times of such political polarization, reflecting that period of time in WW2! We had better learn from that time period of 1933 to 1945...or we will repeat it!
Perhaps Aria Mia Loberti would consider writing a book about her life. There is not a huge volume of work about people with disabilities to chose from when making a film. I don’t think it is discrimination but rather a dearth of material from which to choose that could sell.
Also almost no movies or tv shows include characters with disabilities, played by people with disabilities, when the story is NOT about disability. We see almost no people with disabilities as part of “regular” life.
It's my understanding that Audrey Hepburn received an Academy Award for her first motion picture Roman Holiday. I hope that Aria is considered for one too. I thought and felt her performance was that good.
I am surprised to know that she really is differently abled. This actually was my issue with the show about why this actress is making eye contact. Now I have got to know that visually impaired people do face the person when they are speaking. She is an absolutely phenomenal actress 😍
I hope he's right. That "it's like stepping into the book" describes the entire miniseries. It IS truly an epic book full of many complex characters with multi-dimensional relationships with each other. Well, it's a Pulitzer Prize winner, after all. After your story, I am cautiously optimistic!
These looks like a great Mini Series. To bad it is on Netflix. Oh well maybe it well come on some other streaming service later on..Also best of luck for Mia in her future as a actress.
If I didn't already have Netflix I think I'd sign up for a free trial or pay for one month just to watch this! The book was amazing, I'm cautiously optimistic the series will be as well.
Wow, would never have guessed she was from Rhode Island. The French characters all do an English accent, for some reason. So I assumed she was English.

Thank you for saying that. I thought I was the only one. It seems to be an overwhelmingly popular book, but I just couldn't get through it. It felt like such a slog. A lot like "Tess of the d'Urbervilles", where Hardy had a monetary incentive to fluff each and every page. As if anyone wants to read four pages of description of the dining room. Honestly, if Doerr hadn't made one of the protagonists blind, it probably wouldn't have been so wildly popular. Non-disabled people love reading/watching stories about disabled people. They think it makes the characters more interesting and likeable. It doesn't.
It’s fake, it’s affected … Louis Hofmann is doing it too … British accents are coveted by foreign language speakers when learning English and Americans that want to seem “more” …she’s from Rhode Island
@@orangemascara yes, isn't it a bit bizarre that so often when depicting someone from another country, Americans use a British accent? I was hoping we were past that nonsense. Get a coach and learn the accent for heaven's sake!

What a challenge to be a blind actor. Good on Aria to be able to utilize her condition in the most historically worthy, heartfelt way possible.

Amazing talent. To be blind with no acting experience and tonland such a huge role? They couldn't have found anyone better.
She is absolutely awesome! This role was made for her and she plays it perfectly. Well done!
My mother is legally blind, she's always been embarrassed and shamed of her condition, but she's one of the strongest people i've ever know. ❤️
did she fight Nazis from an attic? ridiculous plot
She's really beautiful. And clearly talented. I want to see this film.

One of my very favorite books! I have my fingers crossed they stay 100% true to this beautiful story.
The series quite deviates from the book... especially the ending they changed it quite significantly.
Can't wait to see this..Also LOVE Mark Ruffalo in Everything!..
Im so happy to have a actual blind person play a blind person! It makes me feel more represented instead of someone acting like us
In roles with characters with disabilities, only 5% of the time does someone with a disability play the role
@@Xaforn I know it's very unfortunate because I hate seeing actors acting blind it's almost offensive 😕
