Hey Rick, wondering if you would consider doing a review on LAB putters. The Link and the Mezz specifically. Loving the content from this new channel so far! Cheers
Changed to a Spider X this year after trying my son’s Tour version. Game changer. Was aka ‘Harry Potter’s Wand’ as the accuracy vs my previous blade style putters was in a different league. Had to change my style a little, and grip much more loosely to allow it to do it’s thing. When I relax and believe in it, it’s really very forgiving.
I had an old spyder putter as a rental when I was in Hawaii and was immediately enjoying it! I have an Odyssey 2 ball in the bag now and it would be hard to give it up since I absolutely love it, but if I did, it would more than likely be for a Spyder.
Went from a Newport 2 to the Spider X Hydroblast circa 2021 and never looked back. Is it aesthetically pleasing over the blade, no. But you cannot deny the performance. Alignment is easier, its forgiving on mishits, and distance control is better. Reason why many pros have switched to a mallet style putter. Great vid as always Rick! Cheers🍻
Spider was much better for me than LAB. Better head shape, smooth roll, easier to use. I think I must need torque in my stroke! I sold my DF3 and went with Spider Tour. Make rate is up and it’s so easy to hit great putts with it.
I switched to putting left-handed a couple of years back (still play right handed with rest of clubs). My putting improved a lot in so far as I didn’t constantly feel like I was going to pull my putts as I used to. However, there were still times when I made what I felt was a good strike but the ball did not seem to start on the line I was aiming. So I purchased a TaylorMade Spyder EX and it has transformed my putting. Best putters out there in my view.
I’ve used a Titelist Bullseye putter for decades except for a brief stint with a custom ordered, onset, weighted, blah, blah putter that was hot on the sweet spot and dead elsewhere. I gave it away. I would like to get a putter fitting someday for fun but I love the blade for its simple, non-distracting appearance and it’s super consistent action.
Thanks for the honest reviews you give. I have watched your channel for a while now. I have a Sacks Parente putter I love. I would like to see you do a review on this putter. It's from a small company in California. Sacks Parente has a low balance point. It feels different from all other putters. I use the Sacks Parente 66!
I bought my daughter a TM Spyder and it has helped her alignment tremendously. My wife had a similar problem when using an Anser style putter and has since changed to the Ping GLE3 Fetch putter, and the mallet style alignment aids have really helped her get her putts a lot closer to the hole. Personally, mallet putters and I don’t get along. Something about the large head makes it harder for me to keep it under control during the stroke. I much prefer a blade style putter (currently using Ping PLD Anser 2). They just feel much more natural to swing to me. Perhaps with more practice, I could make the transition, but the mallets have worked wonders for my wife and daughter.
Have gone from White Hot Blade to Spider FCG and now an Spider X. Have liked them all and swear alot of it is down to feel of pure roll face. The alignment on the Spiders is awesome. Really clear to get square with ball, putter feet and get it bang on line.
How does it compare with the FCG? Really considering the FCG as I am a blade lover and need the alignment of the spider, not too fussed with forgiveness... seems like the FCG is the perfect for me but open to other options
Been gaming a Spider X Copper slant neck for a few years now and love it. I also have an SC Futura X5 but the Spider just feels better. Don’t know if it’s the slight toe hang or just that it rolls better but the Scotty has been benched for now. Been looking for an OG Spider Tour for a while, but they’re either stupid expensive or in pretty bad shape. As soon as I saw these being re-released I was excited. Gonna go demo them at my local when they hit the shelves. Favouring the Tour T3 so far, they are slick! Great video Rick!!
Most expensive putter I’ve bought but well worth it. I went with goose neck version of the Tour. So stable as the CG is the furthest back for the range. Upgraded from a Tour Mini. Love it.
I bought an Orlimar F80 mallet putter last year that is essentially the same design as the putter Rick is using here. Also has a nice oversized grip. If you didn't know it wasn't a TaylorMade Spider putter, you'd think it was one. Good looking putter. Great feel, just the right amount of "heavy" without being overly heavy. Good roll off the face. I don't change putters very often, I find something I stick with it, and I think this will be in my bag for quite a while. And, all of that, for $40. I think I got a heck of a bargain there. I honestly believe I wouldn't be any better off with a $300 TaylorMade version.
Looks like a great product RS! Thanks again for the frankness.... My only bummer for these Spyder is... i can not pickup a golf ball using the putter (like what i do w blade puttwrs) 😅😅
The neck configuration made a big difference for me when I tested Red Spiders years ago, and the velcro holding the putter cover failed early on and the head cover disappeared soon after. It's still my every day putter despite a few missing bits of the red paint.
I like the shape of the Spider X. It's in between the two you tested; the one Rory putts with. These aren't available stateside until the end of Oct. Maybe a Halloween thing.
For me personally, anytime I go to a PGA superstore or Golf Galaxy...I putt a few with it - and it just feels so darn light. Almost like I cannot feel the head. Just me - sure many many people like that!
I’d love to see you review the LAB Mezz.1 and Link.1 putters. Im left handed and used a right handed one at golf galaxy and I couldn’t miss on one of those rollout mats they had displayed.
I have no idea how reasonable a request this is... but it would be cool to see you review the PING PLD custom putters/ process of fitting and customizing. Maybe going out to Scottsdale in person would be off the table, but they still offer an "online, remote" fitting process.
Did they tell you not to talk about previous generations because it is exactly the same? I just bought a used spider tour for $100 and its the exact same.
I loved my spider until my bag fell off the cart and broke it. Would love another one but dang they are pricey. Great review Rick, keep up the awesome work!
Loved your review on the new Adams driver and putter. Please, Please, PLEASE review the irons and woods. I need quality at a lower price. $1100 is insane for a new set of irons!!!
I love my oddessy 2ball ten putter. I’m not the biggest fan of the 2 ball alignment i actually put stickers on them to make it more of a triple track alignment but for the price i paid for it it’s great. I feel far more confident in my putting ability.
Ive had the spider tour for the past few years. Got myself a LE Scotty 9.5 phantom earlier this year and my putting became extremely inconsistent. After a few months and only minor improvements I brought the spider back out for a round and it was night and day difference how much better I was with it. Never switching again.( I know the 9.5 is a great putter I'm just bad.)
The thing I’ve found about the Spyder putters are they feel hard hitting the ball. I’ve used Scotty Cameron’s my entire life and they just seem to feel much softer.
Get a custom made spider putter that way u can change the insert to a softer insert (surlyn) over a firm(aluminium)insert,I did that as I have a spider gt max and that has a firm face and my custom one has a soft face
It looks so nice and finally a brand that removed the leather from the head cover. I hope more will follow and for gloves too, it’s hard to find one without leather.
Gotta say I'm a big fan of the V model especially. I've never been super into the spider putters but these seem like a huge improvement over the GT lineup. Unfortunately I'm pretty dead set on my anser putter though
Like others have said on the putter reviews, knowing if they're a toe-hang putter or not would be nice for people wanting to know if it fits their stroke.
a putter is a putter, whatever feels good in your hand is the best putter for you! I have made lots of putts in my years using Callaway to scotty putters! whatever feels good in your hand is the best for you. try them all!
I just brought a Tour V putter, I did a fitting at afg golf store, was hoping to get an odyssey ai but my data with the tour V stood out massively compared to all the putters even the other spider heads, anyone reading this get a putter fitting the data really helps pick
I've been playing the over-sized counter-balanced spider for many years now and I'm glad to hear that a counter-balanced version will be released again this year. Early Christmas present for me!
Why doesn’t anyone talk about face balance or toe hang in putter reviews? I assume that these new putters will be available in a range of options in that regard? Nice little review though Rick….👍
if they have a centre shafted version i will buy it. im not in the market for a putter, but i could totally buy one. currently gaming a TaylorMade Rossa Mezza Monza which is like 20 years old.
I went and hit all the models at my local Golf Galaxy and ended up ordering the Z3 with a slant neck. Face balanced putters got left for me but I tried them all out and yes...they went left of target. Then I tried the Tour and X version in a slant neck but the weight placement didn't really compliment my stroke. The V was ok but the Z....now that was sexy. holed 16/16 from 3, 6, 9, and 12'. Made me question why I'm not using a 34" putter when I'm 6'6". Hope it rolls just as well with my custom specs. Time will tell.
Think it would be a really good idea to do scheduled live reviews so people can tune in and ask you questions for you answer there and then and even test people theories…
Would enjoy hearing about Guy's transition away from the Spider mallet to a blade putter. What was he hoping to gain? Has the transition delivered the expected results? Etc. Thanks!
Rick... consider trying out the Brandt Snedecker method of putting. Very short backswing, stopping the putter soon after ball impact. Less time for the putter to lose its square to square alignment to the target line.
The red spider and the odyssey #7 are my two favorite putters. Had them both and love them both but decided to put the Odyssey in the bag and sell the Spider mostly because the Spider has higher resale value.
I actually went and got fit for a putter last week. That experience has shown me that without a proper fitting on a quintic system you’re just guessing what the best option is for you. Rick will choose on looks but the biggest difference you can make to your game is to get a proper fitting.
I disagree,I’ve owned several evnroll putters and while they are great putters, the face is too dead and the TaylorMade spider has a better face as u can change from a firm to a soft insert(through custom order) and they are easier to align than evnroll
I'm still using an Ardmore 3 with plumbers neck, I've been putting the best I ever have in my life lately and have the face incredibly stable, don't see myself changing soon. Everytime I swing a spider it just feels too bulky, it would take a lot of getting used to.
Know it's logistically difficult, but it's a shame that almost all putter reviews don't put the focus on speed control rather then just trying to make short, and usually straight, putts. Speed control is much more important than making putts, and probably more influenced by the type of putter.
I haven’t had a Spider in the bag for awhile. I had one of the originals and swapped it for my scotty so maybe i’ll see if the feel is better than before
Would you ever do a review on different putter shafts? Compare Stability, LA Golf, Mitsubishi MMT, etc and see if you feel differences and if it’s worth the price
I got a tour preferred spider in 2017 and I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever get another putter.. the feel and forgiveness are completely unmatched for me
can u try the wilson infinite putter? £120 new so be good review as many guys could afford to get it over a spider, scotty or even pxg putters as they are all going for £400 plus
This might be going in the bag. What do you think?
Absolutely, the tm putters are getting much better
Do it, the other one has been all over the place
Absolutely put it in your bag Rick
Comes down to personal preference but these putters do look great behind the ball
100%
Hey Rick, wondering if you would consider doing a review on LAB putters. The Link and the Mezz specifically. Loving the content from this new channel so far! Cheers
He has reviewed the df 2.1 a year or two ago.
Changed to a Spider X this year after trying my son’s Tour version. Game changer. Was aka ‘Harry Potter’s Wand’ as the accuracy vs my previous blade style putters was in a different league. Would love to see these big brand putters reviewed against LAB putters
Said that from the start but he doesn't seem interested 😕 rather see lab than Adams golf
Lab is twice as much as these putters. Why does brand matter?
Spider was much better for me than LAB. Better head shape, smooth roll, easier to use. I think I must need torque in my stroke! I sold my DF3 and went with Spider Tour. Make rate is up and it’s so easy to hit great putts with it.

Got mine two weeks ago...4 rounds and I enjoy the tour, fun to watch Scottie putt so well at the Arnold Palmer this weekend with the X.
Rick love your honest reviews on Driver, Irons and putter.
Love the idea. I have had scotties and oddessey putters in the past and much prefer my spider. Extremely forgiving and easy to line up
Thanks for the honest reviews you give.

This spider design has always been Taylormade’s best putter the fact that they added the alignment line makes it even better.
I got fitted for this exact putter about a month ago and im loving it, has definitely helped lower my scores.
Been gaming a Spider X Copper slant neck for a few years now and love it. I also have an SC Futura X5 but the Spider just feels better. Upgraded from a Tour Mini.
Love it.
Love the review. Thinking of going to the spider instead of my two ball now.

It would be good to see what kind of hang the putters have, after all different strokes require different hangs.
Love my original Spider Limited in black/red…Been hard to dethrone it in my bag, though just bought a Scotty Phantom X 11.5 so we’ll see!
I have no idea how reasonable a request this is... but it would be cool to see you review the PING PLD custom putters/ process of fitting and customizing. Maybe going out to Scottsdale in person would be off the table, but they still offer an "online, remote" fitting process.

Im curious how i can tell the difference. Im looking at for new putter
I loved my spider until my bag fell off the cart and broke it. Would love another one but dang they are pricey.
Great review Rick, keep up the awesome work!
I can't say I'm a fan. I've never seen/found/tried a mallet style I like. Just not for me! But I always love these review videos! Keep them coming!
Loved your review on the new Adams driver and putter. Please, Please, PLEASE review the irons and woods. I need quality at a lower price. $1100 is insane for a new set of irons!!!

I think you should look at LAB putters. They should be in contention for the bag.
I had an odyssey white hot putter then had a TaylorMade Spyder but now currently play the with a TaylorMade GT Max and I absolutely love it
Rick this video come at the perfect time I’ve been debating over the last few days do I go for one and I think this has sealed the deal for me 👍🏻
The thing I’ve found about the Spyder putters are they feel hard hitting the ball. I’ve used Scotty Cameron’s my entire life and they just seem to feel much softer.

one thing I do miss in your putter review are the balance... Toehanged or facebalanced? For me thats one important thing with a putter.
I’m using the 2013 version of Spider Ghost S. it’s got such a good feel. Really enjoy it.
Gotta say I'm a big fan of the V model especially. I've never been super into the spider putters but these seem like a huge improvement over the GT lineup. Unfortunately I'm pretty dead set on my anser putter though

I’ve been waiting for you to review a lab gold putter
Great review Rick
What’s the main differences between the spider ghost and spider tour?
Lovely review
I've been playing the over-sized counter-balanced spider for many years now and I'm glad to hear that a counter-balanced version will be released again this year. Early Christmas present for me!
Would love to see some LAB putter reviews
Why doesn’t anyone talk about face balance or toe hang in putter reviews? I assume that these new putters will be available in a range of options in that regard? Nice little review though Rick….👍
Balance is tour or X
40 degree is the Z
if they have a centre shafted version i will buy it. im not in the market for a putter, but i could totally buy one. currently gaming a TaylorMade Rossa Mezza Monza which is like 20 years old.
Love the editing, would like to see you play holes on the sim instead of just the driving range when reviewing longer clubs
I really like them saving for one hope too have one for Christmas I hope 😮
The way this sits behind the ball and the feel is far better than any I’ve tried. Got a spider on order
I went and hit all the models at my local Golf Galaxy and ended up ordering the Z3 with a slant neck. would eliminate editing!

Rick... consider trying out the Brandt Snedecker method of putting. Very short backswing, stopping the putter soon after ball impact. Less time for the putter to lose its square to square alignment to the target line.
so who else does that ? nobody that I've seen on tour, I think that is his own style and may stay that way
I believe that you were better with the new Adams putter that reviewed a couple weeks ago.
Those key lights in the studio Rick… wow. You’re whole silhouette is glowing.
Being the owner of an original Rossa Monza Spider I absolutely love it and am hard pressed to replace. But the new lineup looks awfully tempting!
The red spider and the odyssey #7 are my two favorite putters. Had them both and love them both but decided to put the Odyssey in the bag and sell the Spider mostly because the Spider has higher resale value.
Can you test the lateral line l2 putters I’ve heard some reviews but I want your opinion
I would love to see your review/opinion of the Spider Tour X. Great review as always.
I actually went and got fit for a putter last week. That experience has shown me that without a proper fitting on a quintic system you’re just guessing what the best option is for you.
Rick will choose on looks but the biggest difference you can make to your game is to get a proper fitting.
I just switched from Bettinardi Queen Bee to Spider GTX. Best club change ever. A revelation.😊
Evnroll putters are the way to go!!!! Thanks for the video.
I disagree,I’ve owned several evnroll putters and while they are great putters, the face is too dead and the TaylorMade spider has a better face as u can change from a firm to a soft insert(through custom order) and they are easier to align than evnroll

Any plans on reviewing the Lynx putters Rick? Hearing great things and I'm considering changing my putter
Would love to be able to put one in the bag! Playing a PING anser 4 from the olden days!
Rick can you please do a club review of the stix golf silver set to see how the finish holds up compared to the black one?
Know it's logistically difficult, but it's a shame that almost all putter reviews don't put the focus on speed control rather then just trying to make short, and usually straight, putts. Speed control is much more important than making putts, and probably more influenced by the type of putter.
I thought you putted better with the Adams that you reviewed.
I haven’t had a Spider in the bag for awhile. I had one of the originals and swapped it for my scotty so maybe i’ll see if the feel is better than before
Rick, can we please get a review of the new Mizuno t24 wedges? Love the reviews!
I know Vessel is a channel partner now, any chance you have a 5 or 10% discount code? Great review as always!
The new evnroll ev2 is excellent as well 😊
Hey Rick! Love the videos, could you review the Spider GT Max next?
Any plans to test the new wilson staff putters? They look nice but need a good review on them before testing them out myself.
What brand putting green/mat is that?
I started using a spider tour a few years ago and you’ll have a hard time wrestling it out of my hands now! I feel like I can make almost any putt now
Would you ever do a review on different putter shafts? Compare Stability, LA Golf, Mitsubishi MMT, etc and see if you feel differences and if it’s worth the price
Please review some Bettinardi putters!!! They're becoming more popular in the states, they're now in Golf Galaxy's!!
So are the slant necks now the way to go instead of double bend shafts ?
I haven’t changed my putter in about 20 years it’s an odyssey 2 ball blade and it’s still good 👍.
Would love to see a LAB Golf putter review for the Link, Mezz, and DF.
You really should review the Bettinardi Studio Stock and QueenB putters!
Would love to see a few LAB putters tested. I know you did the DF but try the others
Love it! But Wow its expensive!!
Try some Cleveland putters! They are making great ones for the money.
I got a tour preferred spider in 2017 and I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever get another putter.. the feel and forgiveness are completely unmatched for me
I'm learning so mucch about the tools of golf. Thankyou Rick. Can't afford £300 for a putter though!☹
Try second hand - you can often get an excellent quality 2-3 yr old putter for so much less than RRP.
After seeing this I will have a look now thanks@@alastairhoffmann9079
great video again
I'd like to see Rick bring more stats into putter reviews. Using a SAM Putt Lab would give great data
KBS CT Tour 120 single step shaft is a nice addition to the Spyder lineup.
PULL THE PIN!!! BombTech full review!!!
can u try the wilson infinite putter? £120 new so be good review as many guys could afford to get it over a spider, scotty or even pxg putters as they are all going for £400 plus
You got me on evnroll putters and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to anything else!
Interesting that you’ve never been that keen on them before. What’s changed? Just the feel? The new gun metal finish?
