I've always wanted to try one of their palettes 🥰 I love your color choices and I loove when a palette looks used, a little bit of scratch here and there is fine by me 😊
Bonjour! Regarding the cerulean blue, I think you just need to mix the paint in the tube. Use a long needle to mix the paint inside the tube then you can pour it out. My Schmincke cobalt paints were also gloopy and shiny until I mixed the paint inside the tube.
Thanks to you both, I mixed it with a toothpick and the paint seems normal now :) I had been purchasing Prussian blue in the meantime but I'll have opportunities to try out this cerulean later!
What I do with the watercolour palettes with the two fold outs is I pull the pin out of the lower ones hinge. I keep the pin in the pallet and the lower flap but don’t always use it when I’m out painting.
I had the same issue with daniel Smith, cerulean blue, I didn’t like it. Got rid of it. A couple of ideas about the art toolkit palette. I put a wooden skewer stick at the bottom of the pallet. It takes up just enough space that the paints don’t slide under that lower lip. And used a tiny bit of E 6000 glue on the inside corners of the lid and that way water doesn’t leak out when I’m mixing.
That's funny, I just added a couple wooden skewer sticks in mine too! I didn't have any leaking problem (I don't mix large amounts) but I'll keep that one in mind, thank you!
I have never seen such a miniscule palette ever! I had to look it up on Art Toolkit's website (there are non of their products available in my country, but I was pleasantly surprised at the ordering of one to be rather quite affordable - currently on sale for 54 Euro). This pocket palette box is delightful (your alternative suggestion on how to create a DIY palette was a clever idea actually). The magnetic attributes of the pans make it very versatile with the ability to customise your palette workspace. A trick to make liquid pigment stick better when spreading on such a smooth surface, is to lightly sand the bottom inner surface of the pan with fine sandpaper. Labelling the underparts was brilliant. A VERY interesting colour choice for your palette. I was surprised at the end state of the pigment Cerulean Cobalt. I have not used this pigment before, instead I always mixed Cerulean with Cobalt when required. I have not noticed any differences in quality/state regarding the use of Cerulean on it's own compared to other pigments in any other medium. It was weird to see that pigment act as it did - especially considering the brand... Very nice colour swatch pages! Excellent reference when planning ahead for a composition. I had to smile when you added Phtalo Green! I have a similar pigment in my oil range (Schmincke Mussini, Helio Green) - and it is INCREDIBLY highly pigmented. Just a dab of it is enough to fill a massive area in it's beautiful colour. Scratches on the outer surfaces of the box now indicate 'character'! 😀I am looking forward to your works with this splendid little box-of-magic. Have great enjoyment using it and thank you for the upload! 🤟
Thank you for the trick, I didn't know about it! It's going to be difficult for such small pans but I'll definitely keep it in mind for later. I rarely use that phtalo, but when you need saturation it's good to have it here, you can always mix down but you can't add saturation to the colors you have. I agree about the scratches! Like well worn boots 🤗
I'm pretty sure it was just the binder that made the cerulean act that way. I've had that problem every once in awhile myself with other colors. You can always tell by how shiny it is and sometimes it comes out with just the gum aerobic at first with hardly any color others it's like this example. It just separated in the tube. Stirring it with a metal needle or toothpick inside the tube usually works well. As long as there isn't too much gum aerobic in the panned color adding a bit more of the mixed color and stirring should work. If you get way too much of the binder it might be better to start again especially with such little pans. 😂 The transparent one that was thick might just need to be stirred also the binder might be in the bottom instead of the top. If that doesn't fix it adding a touch of gum aerobic to it until you get a nice consistency should work wonders. ❤
Bonjour Julie, je suis ravie de vous rejoindre sur cette nouvelle chaîne, j’ai levé le pied sur le tricot pour revenir à mes premières amours : le dessin, l’aquarelle, l’huile... Waiting for your next videos. All the best for you. Réjane

Ooh thanks for the tip! I will definitely give it a try 🙇🏻♀️
Seconding this tip - I think you just have the binder separating rising to the top of the tube.

@@Julie.Miette Glad to be of help!

Félicitations pour ce retour aux arts ! À très bientôt 😊
another nice video, it's interesting to see your preferences concerning the colors (you seem to like to have greens in your palette)
Thank you! I just love greens, I can't resist them ☺️
Thanks Julie !
