check with your utility company and see if they provide blower door testing as a part of their home energy audits..

I live in a big Apt complex. I must say they engineered this place for energy efficiency and succeeded in spades!!!
So monitoring humidity levels in the winter is a big job here and believe it or not to much humidity is the problem at times from internal source's like cooking bathing anything etc and to counter act that the bathroom fans are on a humidistat and must be used in the winter to prevent mold mildew etc etc. I think if this place had forced air we would be looking at seriously lo

I don't have a duct blaster yet but I will be getting one someday..
I haven't used a hotwire yet and I have talked with jim about it a little and I may order a fieldpiece to compare. It may have to wait, I made some big changes and I have to wait and see how things pan out.

Most people have not seen these tools before which is one of the reasons I am making these videos..
    Thanks for watching

I've never seen those test intruments demonstrated before -- thanks for an excellent video. I suspect that the dampers in exhaust fans don't work effectively, if at all. The kitchen exhaust in my house from the '60s doesn't even have a damper. Thanks for a great video.

Love it Eddie. You've got all the tools. Do have a duct blaster. I'd love to see that in action. We didn't use one during our field days when I took the BPI course. Got my used Testo 327 today. Blower door is on the list. I want that 435 bad but I'm tempted to just go with the field piece hot wire. Was wandering what you thought about vein vs hot wire for transverse velocity testing? The hot wire Testo cost less than the micro vein model.
Some pressure pan testing would have been cool.
    Great job

Man Eddie if I had this system I would drive to Palm Springs Ca. and set up shop... the avg. summer day time temp is 100-120 and night is not much cooler 90-110 the a/c units there run 24 hrs a day, and if your a/c breaks down you leave period. This system would be a must.

I may just have to do that..

Just think of all the people that you would help by providing me a demo tool to compare the two.. lol
For real though when I get a chance I will pick one up because I am interested myself

They are not spider webs. That is dust and mostly insulation forming a web affect due to air movement. At least that's what I was told not sure but make Sense

I am interested also. I need to find someone that has the fieldpiece so that I can do a comparison.

you are correct I don't know where the 41.47 came from.
    .35 x 19904 = 6,966.39
    6966.39 / 60 = 116.10
I came up with the right answer but I don't know where the 41.47 came from

I'll see this house was built back in 75 and the building code back then was not much of a code.

@ time 5:19 your math seems to be off. I can't find where you get 41.47? Should it be 331.73 ???
