Two points. One, break em up, brother. Two-, three-, four-, whatever-parters are fine by me. Two, this is fantastic content. Way better than Llama's guided playthroughs. Much, much less clutter. Just the good stuff. 10/10. Will watch every playthrough you choose to do and release on here.
It goes to show that your skills are always prime and your detailing of builds is honestly second to none. Thank you for keeping the content and awesomeness flowing and growing bro!
It's actually cool that you put in objectives and resources to watch for (collecting jewels for crafting, items to buy from shop, chip topazing for mf, items for merc, etc). For players like me that played casually on battle net, I never collected or shopped/crafted (other than extremely basic things). So I wouldn't even know where to start, but now I do ;)
Put out the whole video! I always appreciate seeing the entire playthrough, and all the little decisions along the way that the real pros make without thinking that much about it. I watch Llama's guided playthroughs all the time, and would love to see something like that here, too.
So, was trying to figure out how to roll an early game barb and accidentally stumbled upon the build by myself in game, did a RUclips search and found this. A couple things I did that are different and allowed me to get pretty easily through to act 2 nightmare with basically no cost or hunting for things. Shop a scepter with +1 mana per kill from akara first thing, it’s super cheap, and two of them will be good through act 1. Put two tir runes in your helm and body armor, or two in helm and stealth body armor if you must have the frw. Once you get to act 2 shop a 2 os flail and put two tir runes in each flail. These can hold you until act IV normal. In act four shop for +4 mana per kill war hammers. Put your first 7 skill levels into vitality, one pt bash, 4 pts mace mastery, then one pt double swing and the remainder until level 18 goes into mace mastery or prerequisites for leap attack. At level 8-9 put pts into dex to get 35 dex, then put 10-12 into strength, or enough to equip a flail. Then I recommend putting pts into energy to give you a buffer so you can constantly cast leap attack for mobility, get to 30 energy. Use double swing on right click and you will recover mana per kill even with only one pt in double swing. Mace mastery increases your dmg and attack rating more than double swing pts do. I hit level 18 and was able to easily kill duriel wit 900-1000 attack rating using the gemmed flails and a defiance merc. If you’re level 35 rolling into act 1 nm, you can basically use the two war hammers we shopped to carry you through to act 2. I was able to leap everywhere instead of running, one kill recovers a ton of mana depending on if you go stealth or tir armor etc. TLDR is go for tir runes in body armor, helm and weapons, or shop act 1 akara for +1 maek scepters, and act 4 +4 maek war hammers. Defiance mercenary - he rarely dies and keeps you alive. Get shout, battle orders, and battle command as soon as they’re available. Since you are recovering so much mana per kill, it doesn’t hurt to simply cast the chain of bc, bo, shout after every monster pack. Srs, having this much mana per kill is like having an insight. Only one pt in double swing and bash, rest go to mace mastery as it improves your dmg and attack rating more than pts in double swing does, plus it will benefit leap attack when it comes online. The attack rating diff is substantial given the numbers you had in your video vs what I had using a defiance merc vs the blessed aim merc in your video.
i used the savage polearm recipe to get a better weapon and eventually upgraded to a standard insight polearm. Those were the most consistent weapons i could grab with no twinking necessary.
Thanks for these videos! Really tempted to go with this as my ladder start for S4 to do something different. It looks like doing the pindle/eldritch horking + cows with this build could be really lucrative early ladder, especially when gear for it will be so cheap compared to sorc/paladin gear. I wonder if it would even be better than starting paladin.
i like both the cliffnotes format of this and i also like the full playthrough format. I play mainly hardcore, this looks like a fun playstyle but also a bit like easy to die. Id imagine especially diablo should be hard in normal. Is it still solo playthrough viable?
I tried out a leap attack barb maxed leap and leap attack by the time I hit hell but once I hit Act 2 hell leap attack wasn’t doing enough damage for me to survive. Had to respect to WW at that point. They need to buff leap attack a little more and maybe make it like the blade skills of the assassin where it takes a portion of the weapon damage and apply it to the skill and even the chance to cast. With those fixes I think it can be a very viable endgame build.
I made a magic-finding leap attack barb this ladder and he was amazing in the pits. Basically like a pitzerker except much cheaper to make plus you can hork for runes as well. If so inclined you can also maximize +skills and hork cows - but cows is too boring for me.
Trying to gamble an20fcr circlet for my low lvl sorc all gold saved till a4, I ended up getting 1 sorc skills 20fcr!!! That was epic, unfortunately zucked for 1os :( big ugh could be an amazing pre shako into hell but it's now just good pre shako UPTO hell.
How does leap attack work with chance on strike/attack? What about elemental damage like enchant or venom? Do these translate to all targets in leap attacks AoE, just the main target or none of the above?
I need to try out leap attack instead of double swing at level 18 to get to level 30 perhaps even using a respec... I feel mana after each kill is the trick. Not related to leap but for double swing i think people put points in vitality they shoul not. You need damage its your weakness so put points in strength. Having 100 vitality and 100 strength is way better then 41 strength and 160 vitality. Skip b o and put points in bash. Until you go with a singer at level 30 (or if you go leap attack with bonesnap for instance) Also act 1 use poison potions (also ok vs beetles act 2) Also for double swing you can go with malice flail and 3 x ith flail I would not gamble early keep your money for a tele staff
No. Double throw is the way since D2R. Don’t waste any points on double swing or maces. Use throwing pots and max Throwing Mastery. Then respecing to Shouts is still superior. Damage output from Leap Attack doesn’t even compare and a solid budget Singer is surpassingly easy to equip with low to mid runewords. All you really need to get blasting through NM is one Spirit sword, whereas LA SEEMS like it would do a lot of damage but the way it works with the leap animation it ends up being pathetic. Worse yet, it keeps putting you in the most dangerous places because that’s just how it works, and with the aforementioned animation and leap mechanic, it leaves you exposed. All you need to beat Hell is maxed Battlecry and a Black flail, don’t even need mace mastery. Warcry falls off drastically in Hell though, it becomes slow. So the options are to either keep farming NM CS and Cows or respec to a trashy Zerker and hork Hell Eldritch and what not. But ultimately, Leap Attack is still no good.
@@MacroBioBoi the “no” is a flat rejection of the idea that LA barb is the new meta or even competitive for speed running, ladder starts, or MFing. I tried it myself, I wanted to like it, the numbers are solid, but in practice it’s like the Blaze sorc. I also tried it as a temporary thing before respecing to shouts, but that didn’t work either. Maybe if it worked off FCR and had that little knock back of plain Leap. Coulda woulda shoulda. Double throw seems like the best option now because it keeps poison potions from running out so they become just like a constant AOE spell for the barb. Later on, you can hopefully find eth javs and the pierce from the mastery becomes not negligible just in time for the Maggot Lair. Early on, Double Throw is also the most effective for bosses, unless you get lucky with a Crushflange drop from Andy. But Double Throw is far more consistent, don’t need to waste time farming gem shrines to craft Blood gloves, which in norm difficulty will only net about the same boss kill speed as DT. Then it falls off in NM due to low AR, which is why respecing to shouts is still the way to go.

How does the Rogue Inner Sight compare with a blessed aim merc?
They're comparable, but her damage output is miniscule compared to his.
