  • Today we are enjoying the quaint Town of Port Hope, Ontario. Port Hope is located along the North shore of Lake Ontario at the Ganaraska River, approximately 109 km East of Toronto. Port Hope was incorporated as a Town in 1834. The Town Hall was completed in 1853 and has been a landmark for over 150 years. Port Hope is an active, vibrant community well known for its award winning downtown where you will find an interesting collection of shops and eateries. Port Hope's small town charm is featured in a number of TV shows including Murdoch Mysteries and Schitts Creek. The Ganaraska River flows thru downtown and into Lake Ontario. It played a significant role in providing early power to grist mills and breweries. The river is famous for its seasonal fish migrations and the "Float Your Fanny Down The Ganny" river race. The Port Hope water tower located on Fox Rd was completed in 2009. Port Hope hosts two main public beaches. The East and West beaches are great places to swim, play, picnic and unwind. Visit Ontario's favourite small town!
