  • It finally stopped raining over here in the UK and our grass dried up enough to cut it. The grass was longer than normal due to all the rain so we decided to cut the grass and then sweep up the cuttings. Today we used the 1980 Bolens HT23 with the 54" deck and the 1974 Bolens HT20 with the Ransoms/Steiner LS340 sweeper.

Hello Joseph. It was great watching the two Bolens tractors in action. Beautiful tractors. We were very impressed at how well the sweeper worked, or maybe it was the operator. You have started me thinking that there should be a simple way to make emptying the sweeper less of a chore. Thanks for taking us along for the ride, Ben

Hi Joseph, we have had no rain for about 2 or 3 weeks, and the grass here is just about ready for another cut, which Keith may do tomorrow!, as our field is much more rough than yours we dont bother grass collecting, but that sweeper of yours makes a fine job, even with the holes in the bottom! Looks like it cleared a lot of thatch as well. With a new plate on the bottom and some decent brushes you should properly clean up! Good Job!

Like most grass in the UK, ours is Ryegrass. I really like both tractors but I guess the HT23 has the edge due to the two speed rear end which is not fitted to the HT20. We have been searching for years trying to find a 3pt for one of our HT's without any luck and we may now see if we can import one from the US. The HT's make a great grass cutting fleet. Take care
