    Nice video, i enjoyed it lots. The way that steering gear was turned around one would think some teeth would be damaged

      @GardenTractorBoy  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks. I agree, it would have taken a lot of force to turn the steering gear around and it did not look like it had been apart before. Take care

    Interesting modifications on this one. The front axle must have been broken, maybe from underneath and that may explain the block to perhaps, keep it from deforming should it encounter another hit. The steering reversed is difficult to phathom. The number plate is probably what was mounted on the front. Good detective work~ All the best~

    • @GardenTractorBoy
      @GardenTractorBoy  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks. After the video we looked further at the front axle and I believe you are right. It would have take a big impact to reverse the steering. Take care

    It is a shame that you had to discard those perfectly good front tires (oops...tyres). I hope you can track down the licensing of the tractor. That would nice to have!

      We have a pile of tyres just like the ones on the tractor, you are very welcome to have them all :-) It would be great to track down the registration number. Take care

    How's she goin'? That was good to get that ugly piece of angle iron off the front of the tractor. The steering quadrant turned out to be an easy repair too. Nice. I hope you can get the license plate for this tractor. That would be kind of special eh!! Take 'er easy!!

      I agree, they were in good condition. I think this tractor is in a lot better condition than we first thought. I don't like the steel bushings that are used on a lot of garden tractors. Take care

    did you figure out what the purpose was for the welding on the axle housing?

    • @GardenTractorBoy
      @GardenTractorBoy  5 месяцев назад

      We had a good look after making the video and it looks like the axle has been broken in the past and welded up. The plates look like reinforcement. Ideally it would be good to find a replacement axle. Take care

    Being able to move it around in the shop is a great place to start. Makes everything so much easier. Those blocks in the front axle aren’t stock items I guess? Awesome start on the new project.Question ? Why would you need to have it road plated back in the day? Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Mike.

    • @GardenTractorBoy
      @GardenTractorBoy  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks. When this was new they were a very expensive machine and most were bought by councils to cut the side of the roads in towns which is why they were road registered. It is great to have it mobile. Take care

    Every tractor should have a shen breaker on the front of it. Those front tires don't look that bad. Lol. I think that the front homemade bracket was for hanging weights on? The tractor definitely looks better now. Great job getting a start on it. Take care

    Would the plate be to allow road travel? That 1-3-5 looks like an auction number.

    • @GardenTractorBoy
      @GardenTractorBoy  5 месяцев назад +1

      I had not thought about an auction number. UK number plates are age related and if we can find the original number it will look great on the tractor. Even if we did not have the plate it would be possible to road register it but without the old registration it would be almost impossible to get an age related plate and it would be allocated a plate starting with a "Q". Take care

      Thanks. The reversed steering quadrant could only have come from a large impact to the steering, it had not been taken apart before. I am surprised it did not knock teeth off the quadrant, we may find some damage when we look closer. Take care
