In the Meg novels, we see the Megalodons actually evolving and changing their social behaviors to adapt to the changing times. The first female Meg, and later her daughter, Angel, exhibit very typical shark behavior towards their offspring. But two of Angel’s children completely change the game plan: the sisters Bella and Lizzie. Bella and Lizzie are VERY social with each other, the actively cooperate and coordinate with each other to ensure success when hunting (Bella is the muscle, Lizzie is the brains), and also, when Bella and Lizzie each have children of their own, they are FIERCELY protective of their offspring, which is NOT typical shark behavior at all.

I mean, despite it not making sense wouldn't that make more sense than some deep watery prison they've somehow maintained food sources within for millions of years? Nobody cares what the marine biologists who have been lying about sharks ever since the 70s. I neither know nor care if megs are still out there. But this is a movie, entertainment. For example marine biologists knew long before the 70s that areas like the New England coastline are white shark nurseries (where they give birth). Since the 90s they decided to start lying and claiming it isn’t normal that great whites are in New England coastal areas. They aren’t deadly, they aren’t man eaters. They try to avoid human beings etc.. fact: sharks know no fear, they can and do eat anything. No, they don’t do test bites and swim away from humans. They are non stop eating machines who will happily eat a human being after they gorge on tuna or blue fish. The great white that ate a woman swimming in a bay in Maine a few years ago had an hour before gorged on seals. They know no satiation. The increased numbers of great whites is the result of over protecting the predators.
