Star Sky is from the epic music album Battlecry by Two Steps From Hell, released in April 2015. Once more, Thomas Bergersen has written an astounding piece of music that's incredibly moving. My favourite is the version with vocals. It really rivals Thomas's other vocal tracks like Compass, however this is a much grander one.
I have to say that Star Sky has got to be in my top five Two Steps From Hell tracks. Definitely my favourite from Battlecry! Amongst an album of amazing trailer music, this really stands out. The melody just soars and you can imagine someone dreaming of big things, of endless possibilities, when you listen to this track.
I first played around with Star Sky on piano soon after Battlecry came out. I was very inspired by my #1 favourite pianist on RUclips, Animenz. He's truly "god tier" and his cover of music from Sword Art Online really inspired the accompaniment of the big melody of Star Sky for me. Animenz is the inspiration for me bringing my videos to a new level of technical mastery. Although I still have a long way to go before I'm there yet - his skill is many times over mine but it's something for me to aspire to! Animenz's channel: / animenzzz

Fun fact. I had massive problems with this video when putting it together - putting aside how difficult it was (it was difficult.), I had problems putting together my tracks in my video editing software. So it's been a really big one! I wanted to have it out sooner but as always, there's more to do than I expect! HOWEVER! I am committed to uploading every Friday and I don't want to miss an upload! So I will keep working until the sun rises like today - I know that this is a video I can be really proud of and I want to share this cover of my favourite epic music with everyone.

Bravo! Incredible piano cover, it makes me so happy when i have bad mood. I just want to thank you just because exactly your performance motivated me buy piano and go to music lessons. That was my dream from childhood but i was not confidence in myself. But now i finally realize that i can not live without playing piano. And play this cover perfectly is my main goal!

But I kept practicing, many many hours over many years and it's worth it! Even if you're getting frustrated you have to keep going! Because with enough dedication you do it! Good luck!!!!!

I dont think its too late. In one month I went from playing Ode to Joy to playing A Million Dreams (The greatest Showman). If you're dedicated, anything is possible.

Star Sky track is my one huge weakness and sadly there aren't that much covers for it (let alone good ones), but judging by my constant goosebumps during the video I can tell you delivered it perfectly. I missed vocals a bit though, so I had to sing along.

A father and son were spending time together camping out at night after fishing. And the father began to talk to his 15 year old son about constellations.
Dad looked at the incalculable number of stars in the sky And after some thinking, he asked his son: "Wanna know what's strange to think about?"
"What is it, Dad?"
"All of those stars seem so far away, but if you can see them, there is literally nothing between you and that star, which means if you were to zoom in that direction and never stop, you could eventually land on it."
His son smirked and shook his head. He had heard in school how many lightyears it would take just to reach the nearest one. "Dad... Space is a big place - endless, in fact. Even if we were accurate enough to launch a ship in its direction, it would take several lifetimes to get there. And then what is the point of landing on a faraway planet if you cant get there alive?"
Dad rubbed his beard in deep thought. "Perhaps. Valid point, indeed, but though the person flying to the star may be deceased, you don't have to personally live on to create the possibility of actually reaching them."
The son turned his head side to side. "It's still pointless to attempt if you can't live on it."
Dad nods his head. "To a view of the self, indeed, but let us look to the viewpoint of the people here on Earth."
"What do they have to do with it," asked the boy.
"They will hear the tale of a man who gave his own life to do what they said could never be done. And even though that man may not be among the living, the story would tell that no matter what other people tell you that you can't do, with the right determination, you can do what people can only do in their dreams."
"Dad..." The boy let out a chuckle. "No one can reach a star. They are all too far away to accomplish anything on them."
"We live in a star, son. Even though we consider our galaxy as a galaxy, to other stars, we are another star among their constellations, if we shine bright enough."
"That is IF there is life out there other than here on Earth." The boy looked to his dad.
The dad smiled. "Well we don't know if there is, or not. But we can only have a hope of being a star if we shine our brightest, because you never know what could be gazing upon you."
"But...how do we know if we are?" The boy looked back at the night sky, looking beyond the shining lights at the blackness of space.
"Well..." The dad sat up and looked at his son. "You may never find out, unless you have something out there tell you they look up to you."
The boy realized this wasn't a conversation about physical stars. This made him sit up and look at his dad. "But... I haven't had anyone tell me that."
"That is because your life is only beginning. What great things can you do for others to make them admire you as their star?"
The boy's alarm clock buzzed in his ear as he suddenly woke up, looking on his dresser to the picture of his dad in military uniform. After he wiped a tear off of his cheek, he placed his hand on the folded flag in front of it. "Thank you, Dad... I will do my best."

It is the best piano version. Its absolutely sounds and fells exactly like original TSFH, like a listening the original Star Sky track.... I returned to listen it again after Patric version(its not bad, and has a right on existing, but)... But Andrew's version is absolutly fantastic.

the best left hand accompaniment composition for star sky that i can find on youtube so far. different from others' repetitive chord-ish accompaniment for the rising-tension part, your version just makes it so rich and powerful. good work!

When I hear this song, I feel the incredible pain of someone who knows that they now have to hurt another person (or their own country and army), a person (or country, army) whose love (loyalty) they cannot reciprocate any longer, an entity with whom a happy relationship filled with memories has ended. It has ended, brought nights without sleep, and the awareness that no other choice is possible. This is not a story of someone finding something else, and leaving a former 'something' behind. This is someone leaving someone else without any replacement. It is a break from something into nothing. It is a hard hard pain when nothing is a better solution for us than staying in an environment that offers love. Not a song about the pain of those left behind, a song by those who are doing the leaving.

Now I can only imagine it played on my favourite piano I regularly play on but sadly isn't mine. It's a shiny black Blüthner, completely repaired, from 1884. The keys are easy to 'press' yet not sloppy. Its soft yet not (as I call it) 'spongy' sound would perfectly fit the song.
I am probably going to start learning that song at the end of the year. And maybe one day try and play it one that one piano.
The shop assistant from the piano shop where the piano is is always happy to hear me play new songs. I have played Heart of Courage from TSFH, He's a Pirate from Klaus Badelt, Una Mattina and Leo from Ludivico Einaudi and some stuff from Bach, Chopin and Schumann there before.

Yeah, but it's a bit meh in my opinion... it sounds like a karaoke version of the regular Star Sky. Of course, that is exactly what it is, but that doesn't mean it should sound that way...

Awesome cover! I am always listening your covers but I must say something started disturbing me after a couple of replays. I know it is a common thing to speak the last moments of the videos but you give that period a whole minute. It makes %15 of the video.
