Hello! Thank you so much for your videos! They’ve been really helpful! The way you break things down and even read the words is easy to understand.
I was wondering if you could do a video for a surgery case study when the procedure(s) done isn’t clearly stated in the “Procedure” section of the Operative Report but you have to decipher what type of surgery was done in the body or description of procedure. Please? :)
Again, thank you so so much. I’m currently in school and determined!

Well this was helpful, i paused the video and tried to code it before going through it with you. I got the two icd-10 codes correct even though i didn't yet verify the incident report. I admit the bilateral part threw me off so i wrote something extra i didn't need because i figured one of the answers would be right.
Unfortunately the CPT code was completely wrong after I searched it up from the index and getting entirely confused. It's kind of embarrassing how bad i am at cpt coding, yet I'm able to code icd-10 decently even though i haven't used it since 2019.
I think this really reflects the fact that i had a good instructor for icd-10 and somebody who didn't teach me anything in cpt. 😵 i feel depressed, but hopeful since Victoria uploads these videos. I feel extremely slow when it comes to cpt coding.

To clarify, you didn't code the bilateral mandible fracture because the displaced left angle fracture is one side and the symphysis fracture is on the other side which is technically not the right side because of where the symphysis fracture is which is more like the middle of the jaw. I hope I'm making sense. I was confused at first, but wanted to clarify why you didn't code the bilateral mandible fracture

Fun fact: on my instructor's RUclips videos she was saying that she usually go straight to the tabular for CPT codes we should be doing that because the index will waste alot of time on the exam, and we should get familiar with the tabular.
So during the test she would post i would look up all of my codes by headlines in that specific chapter of what I'm dealing with which was okay sometimes, but sometimes more challenging.
When i emailed her for help she claimed that even though the exam is short on time she was only saying to do that for the E/M chapter, and we should be using our index. 😢😭

I'm a surgical technologist at a level 1 trauma hospital, im trained in honestly every kind of speciality, including robotics, trauma, and organ harvesting.. needless to say, we are being overworked and severely underpaid. I want to continue with this career but THIS IS SO HELPFUL. Coding surgical procedures would be quite easy since my main job now, im in the OR listening to the surgeons say all these reports.
It might seems small but I want to say thank you. I've been panicking on how im going to survive these awful times at my hospital and you pretty much single handedly gave me the inspiration and hope that I have a solid path now.
Quick question though, I watched your previous video on this but still kind of struggling.. I could very easily teach myself to code given educational videos like yours, am I able to just simply take a test and start working right away?? Or career wise. Should I still get a college education for this.( I personally don't feel I need it).. with surgical tech, if you don't go to school you are significantly lacking with qualifications so wondering if it's as severe as it is for us. Interested in the fastest cheapest way with the best qualifications 😊
