"We're not here for a good time. We're here to write prog riffs". Gonna slap this on a sign and put it above my door like the Notre Dame "Play like a Champion Today" sign
I think this might be the Thick Riff anthem. The way it goes into the tapping chorus... God DAMN!! It slaps so fucking much. You're an endless source of inspiration
This gives me BIG intervals vibes and I'm all for it! So glad I found your channel a month ago you always make my Friday morning great which is your thick riff Thursday 🤟
Glad to hear the news about you joining Dearest. I've been a fan ever since I heard the Retrograde album for the first time and I'm excited about what's to come next :)
Dude I had no idea about Dearest! Andy is my favorite vocalist and you're one of my favorite guitarists. That lineup is absolutely stacked. The tapping on this riff was so sick btw
If/when you tour with Dearest I’m hitting any show I can feasibly reach. I saw Andy with Makari recently and knowing your riffs will be paired to his vocals might actually make me cry.
Nick, have been a fan since that Post Malone rockstar riff diddy you had so long ago. I’m more of a lurker on your channel, but always good to see a TRT on the feed.
My word.....you make me sick with these prog sessions. I've never simultaneously been inspired and wanted to quit all at the same time. Keep it up....probably the biggest highlight for my thursdays.
@@nickbroomhallmusic DW40 isn't really for lubrication. (even if they claim it to be) It's a solvent and used for cleaning. Try an actual 3-1 lubricating oil. WD 40 just removes the grease from the metal and provides a "temporary" lubrication.
Any advice for a beginner metal guitarist on how to learn metal chords and theory? I've studied basic jazz comping but wanting to learn to play metal now.
Hello there, Nick! I was just wondering about the preset for the Serum... Did you create the serum yourself, or did you get the preset from somewhere else?
If it's just a quick little thing, I'll record a 4 bar phrase (for example), then use the flex tool to shrink it down to 2 bars using polyphonic mode. If the part I'm recording is longer, I'll turn on flex for all my tracks then literally slow the tempo of the project down to whatever I want to record at. Apparently you can also use varispeed but I've never tried it

lmaooo
goin on my headstone.
For us content creators who often forget what day it is, Nick comes in clutch to remind us its THURSDAY!
It's the only reason I can keep track of the days at this point
Lucas, Andy and Anup? definitely YES!!!!
the rhythm on the guitar reminds me of arms of sorrow by killswitch engage
I came here to say the same exact thing.
I think this might be the Thick Riff anthem. The way it goes into the tapping chorus... God DAMN!! It slaps so fucking much. You're an endless source of inspiration
MY MAN IS IN DEAREST WOOHOO 🙌🏽
I’ve built my life on those chords. Sounds sick dude and congrats on Dearest! 🤙🏽
8:50 I had an idea…well, I didn’t have the idea but I had the idea to come up with an idea! Classic!
Similar vibe to Thrice - The Melting Point Of Wax. More buttery and swag, of course 🤘
Sithu Aye meets Scale the Summit. Good stuff, man!
such a passenger vibe, love it!
Did I hear your correctly? A band with anup? Anal pastry? Full seriousness. He's one of the best drummers. He doesn't get enough love.
Anup Sastry, Andy Cizek, and Lukas Guyader!
@@camilla.e77absolutely stacked lineup
Woah dude. That's gonna be wiiiiiild. He'll ya. Congrats nick!
12:20 that progression is pure god damn gold… im hyped for the new thick riff album!
Oh man, that's so amazing sound, just so beautiful
Thanks man!
This reminds me of old intervals. Very aaron marshall feel. Sounds amzing
This riff sounds like the breakdown part of Killswitch Engages "The Arms Of Sorrow".
But we're not here for a good time. We're here to write prog riffs. Best thing said in this video.
Chord progression slightly reminds me of Three-Fifty by Veil Of Maya. LOVE this riff this week man!
Nick, watching these videos have inspired me to get back and write my own stuff. Thank you for that
I hope you keep expanding on this song, its kinda fucking beautiful
First time being here within an hour! TRT is my favorite series on the internet, and it's not close at all.
These videos are a highlight of my week dude. Never stop being you.
an aboslute fist pump for when you mentioned Pasin and Scro! love that recognition
Can’t wait to hear this one as a fully finished song. Awesome work dude.
I'm so ready to hear what you put out with the band! keep ripping bro!
I ALWAYS bust out the headphones for thiccc riff thursday
as the cool kids say, "oh boy when that harmony hit" DAYYUMMM
reminds me of intervals lock and key frfr
edit: you got me repeating the riff over and over. it's so damn feel good man
This gives me BIG intervals vibes and I'm all for it! So glad I found your channel a month ago you always make my Friday morning great which is your thick riff Thursday 🤟
Gonna need this on Spotify ASAP as possible
Very Electric Sunrise - Plini, love it.
Getting big Electric Sunrise vibes
Such a sick episode, this kind of prog music reminds of a Napoleon
Glad to hear the news about you joining Dearest. I've been a fan ever since I heard the Retrograde album for the first time and I'm excited about what's to come next :)
Retrograde slaps
@@nickbroomhallmusic Yeah man, that chorus in Corrode just hits differently.
Dude I had no idea about Dearest! Andy is my favorite vocalist and you're one of my favorite guitarists. That lineup is absolutely stacked.
The tapping on this riff was so sick btw
that hard chord around 7:30 is similar to one that Mike Stringer does in Perennial - Spiritbox. Such a pain to reach quickly and requires long fingers
Love that song
Twisty fingies today, great voicings!
full song friday🙌
Those lead taps sound awesome btw
Sounds freaking sick Nick! I am just now learning how to program drums and this definitely helps
Watching this at work

Oooh band!! Yes!! 🥳🤩 That highhat, needs some oiling 😆
Thursdays are great days! Why? THICK RIFFS! 🤘🤘🎸🔥

This song is actually giving early Novelists vibes
haha your high hat squeaking was cracking me up lol
Good because it's driving me insane I've WD40'd it in like 3 different places

Reminds me alot of the endling explained ngl, very close but also very far from it. but absolutely smashed it as always! 🙏
I'll definitely be sure to follow Dearest now that you're there! Don't worry if you miss some TRT because of it :)
You my good sir, are good at music 🧐
(and so stoked on the news of Dearest!!!)
Thanks dude!
oh yeah this one is going on the album
Absolute unit
daaamn the synth / lead combo sounds sick 😀 🔥
god damn it i love thursdays
Kinda reminds me of the afterimage somehow, love it
Congrats! Also, Andy's in like 10 bands already I feel like 😁 what a beast...
Holy moly, you've got Anup as drummer? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid
Another freaking BANGER
i need that serum lead preset badly!!!
giving heavy Intervals ... Aaron would fuck with this 10/10
Kaonashi uses a similar chord progression. Sounds great
dude this is crazy good like always!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bro needs some ballistol for that hihat stand 😂
At 14:23 you can see his brain go "yeah this fucks"
Best series on yt.
This is top tier! Holy shite
culture shock vibes? love it
If Dearest needs a bassist... 👀👀🙏🏻
Brazzers ! ♪
Those min11 chords are delicious 😋

I also said "that sucks" at 7:15 😅
on a real note tho, i tried fretting that chord and failed miserably lmfao

Gotta make a shirt saying should we harmonize?
It reminds me a lot of belmont
it's so FK GOODDD
Mile Zero chorus type riff

Tbh if you’re coming from jazz, most of the change will be in technique. Pick really hard, and tune low 😂 Also learn a bunch of songs and riffs!
@@nickbroomhallmusic thanks for the reply man. Love the channel. Love the content. Please keep it coming! Much love.
Can I request you write a dayseeker type song with a not so dayseeker Thicc riff this Thursday! If not then next!
THIIIIRRSADAAYYYYYY

Hello there, Nick! I was just wondering about the preset for the Serum... Did you create the serum yourself, or did you get the preset from somewhere else?
dude those chords are actually so wicked, do you know what they are and can you list them?
Now the hardest thing for me is to NOT create Andy's voice on top of the riffs in my mind...
Hey just a question. Does anyone know a similar program to what Nick has for a Windows computer?
What Base plugin is that you use with MIDI?
Have you ever gone over your mastering chain in your videos?
I think I went over it on the Christmas episode!
🤩
Dude. How you do the half speed thing properly?
If it's just a quick little thing, I'll record a 4 bar phrase (for example), then use the flex tool to shrink it down to 2 bars using polyphonic mode. If the part I'm recording is longer, I'll turn on flex for all my tracks then literally slow the tempo of the project down to whatever I want to record at. Wait. THAT Anup??
Ah okay. It's also THAT Andy. Jesus that will be crazy
