I had the pleasure of assisting Nzingha for 3 years and I can tell you that she is a superb artist with very few peers that can match her skills and talent. Anyone taking class from her is is privileged.
I dont know the truth as I'm just an African American....but WITHOUT the technical and truth behind it...this dance video was beautiful and awesome! Way to go ladies...the instructor as well!
I did ballet at this age and am now paying the price. Wish i'd done this class- my back would be strong. These girls are a pleasure to watch- so good and having fun.
I am an african who has lived there for a long time, i do not know where they dance like this...most of the dances i have watched are much more calmer but still have the african spirit
Whew!!! I think I lost at least a pound just watching! LOL! I know I really could lose weight if I did this 3 times a week for the full 3 minutes! :) Get it young ladies. Hope you're still dancing! 2009-2013
who ever put thumbdown is no African taste dance! They are very AWESOME! THEY SHOULD GO TO AMERICAN GOT TALENT! let all the people remember African dance is FUN!
This routine of up tempo choreography, is very traditional (original if you will). Dont get me wrong, some may see it much often or not at all. Take Eddie Murphy for instance in "Coming To America", you may recall seeing this sort of dance when he was to meet his, "pre-arranged" wife to be (she barked like a dog loool). The spirit always lives on, it just adapts with modern changes (music nowadays). From London with love @MarkFoxx13
Hello, great job!! I am looking for an African dance and drumming group to perform at my Mother's 80th birthday celebration. I hope someone can help me. Thank you, Arthur Williams.
I agree, most dances are not made for performances. But there are fast high energy movements that do require a lot of technique. It all depends on the region. Africa is large continent filled with many styles of dance and music. If you think most of the African dances are calm, then that might be the only movement you were exposed to.
This is very traditional west African, and it even spreads southern as far as Angola in Bantu tribes. And for the record, these girls did well, but you are very wrong when you say it is much calmer in africa, coz i isnt. If you watch the real originals of this dance, its a lot more intense than in this video, and if u actually tried dancing it, you will understand better. But great job by these young beautiful Nubian queens
This choreagraphy is really beautiful!, each of the girls gorgeous, powerful and so talented! :D
