Erykah Badu "Didn't Cha Know"

I had the priviledge to produce and direct The 30th Annual Black Music and The Civil Rights Movement Concert starring one of my favorite artist, Erykah Badu. This took place in January of 2013.

This choir didn’t study Badu or listen to the darn song beforehand, obviously. But Badu is the ULTIMATE performer and musician; she’s the best live improviser on the planet; along side a guy named Marc Rebillet (crazy, talented, unique style), with whom she did an interesting collaboration. Badu IS the GOAT.❤

Lo que hace aquí ella es Sencillamente INGENIOSO.
En primer lugar, cuando se da por supuesto que va a finalizar la actuación, empieza a desarrollar una actitud juguetona respecto al público (y me aventuraría a decir, que también con el resto del cuerpo musical) de manera órganica y muy bien llevada, hasta que se hace patente el efecto de su juego, la actitud del público x su ansía de aplaudir.
En segundo lugar, el hipotético significado que le doy yo a esta perfomance-ritual. Erycka decide hacer llegar el mensaje (hasta el punto de desesperar) al público en forma de Mantra. El cambio de canción, a otra letra, portadora de un mensaje (un poco modificado x la intérprete), es alentador y esperanzador. Una pequeña dosis de lo que necesita el ser humano en la actualidad.
Esta actuación, aparentemente sólo musical, es toda una experiencia.

He went gospel....which is not erykah's style and also I dont think shes's used to singing with a choir. Much respect to her for trying something different. I prefer her regular style. The choir was not in the groove with her performance
