I was so confused at the beginning of this "miscast" because I fully believed Raoul sang the first verse and he is perfectly cast as Raoul. It took me a minute to realize he only sang Christine's part and entirely skipped Raoul's part. Beautiful.
He was Raoul in the movie version. He is a good singer. He was doing Brigadoon in 2017 with Kelli O'Hara.
I thought it was a different song until I heard the lyrics but he did a stellar job. Bravo.

You didnt see him as Raoul (Christine Diae's boyfriend) in the movie version of Phantom of the Opera? This song he performed is one that Christine sings in the stage and movie. It was a bit odd hearing him ( or a male )sing it, but even more so with the very odd the banjo accompaniment. But he has a very good singing voice.

This made my month. I’ve been begging Patrick in DMs for 2 years now to give us some music!! I wish he’d get out of scary movies and get back into what he’s brilliant at, which is singing. Would love for him to get cast in a musical movie (if they ever do those again), but for now I guess I’m glad we at least got him in Phantom all those years ago. His voice makes my heart SO happy 🥰

I saw that Phantom movie in the theater way back, and I completely forgot Patrick Wilson was in it. Partly because he hadn't been in Watchmen and The Conjuring at that point, and partly because Gerard Butler's, erm, "presence" cast a huge shadow over the whole picture.
That said, Patrick's voice is quite good here, and I hope he gets a chance at a better movie musical someday.

I've been re-listening to Phantom (the 2004 movie soundtrack) nonstop recently, and have been thinking both about what Christine's songs would sound like as a tenor with killer falsetto and just what Emmy, Gerard but mostly Patrick are up to now. Especially since Patrick's been quite busy with the Conjuring Series and who knows what else for Aquaman. I didn't think I'd get to see something like this anytime soon and I'm so thankful it exists ❤
