- Get ready for the ultimate showdown at the Paris Olympics! Two titans of the track, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Femke Bol, are set to clash in a 400m hurdles rivalry that has captivated the world. With world records shattered and national pride on the line, this race is about more than just a medal-it's about legacy.
She is a very nice person and may the best win..
Femke is such a down to earth, nice girl next door type. If she got second again, that’s fine. But the BS she got over here from some American sport fans is completely undeserved.
some people were never athletes so they don't know how to be hyper-competitive and supportive/appreciative of who they're competing against at the same time.
You really don't even have to have been an athlete actually, just decent in general.
Why are Femke Bol fans always so angry? Just because she is coming in second in Paris doesn't mean we are looking down on her--------All we are saying is, in a million years, Bol wouldn't be able to beat Sydney---and that's a fact.🤣🤣
@@kobbieafriyie2172 your probably right. Don’t know why you call me “angry”? Bol is just a world class athlete who will push Sidney, your claim is a little wild if you see Bol pushing to a below 51 aswell. Might come back to this one in a few weeks 😉

The way I look at it (the competition between these two excellent women) is that, no matter who wins, what a great story! While it is good to see this kind of self-discipline with just one athlete. It is fantastic to see these two taking two parallel paths to greatness, and possibly intersect into a fantastic final race. It is the stuff dreams are made of.
Couldn't have said it better!
That was just the first time she tried to put some effort into the final stretch. Until now she just finished every race saving energy just because she could afford to. This is Femke getting ready for Paris and what a brilliant way to do it...!!!!!

Great video and commentary! I’m with you and both excited and nervous. This is the race I am most looking forward to in the Olympics. On another note, how bout the FEVER? Dayummmm! I’m a sub too. One of your first.
one of my Day 1s, and one of the few that I've seen on vids across both sports - I love it! I wondered if the track subs will say "what is all this Indiana Fever stuff" and vice versa so it's good to see. Anyway - AGREED. This race is the main event for me.
The Fever...this is why I felt that Sabrina "Super Bowl" comment was intentional, because the teams at the top see them coming and that's not a problem the want to deal with. New York came into the season thinking about the Sun and the Aces, now they have a whole other problem to deal with. AND every team knows the Fever fans are coming with them, in playoff mode! They're shook LOL
@@micdewittI had a fantasy they would’ve doubled up and run the 400m too! Can you imagine them running with Paulino? Wow! One for the ages! Oh, well. Btw, I’m really digging your content, bro! Paz y más from LA!
@@angelzapata5134 that would've been next level, but I get why they didn't because the 400m is tough to run that many heats, semis, and finals, in both events in a 6 day span. And if one did double duty and the other one didn't, the one that didn't would have a huge advantage for gold. Seeing Syd run that 200m the way she did at trials definitely was a TEASE though lol. Maybe we'll get to see Sydney and Femke on the same leg of a relay. And thank you!
@@micdewitt The Fever fans are a bit crazy though. They really make it hard to even LIKE the Fever. Still, I love the WNBA and can't wait to find out what happens in the end.
Ok Femke’s PB is within 0.3s of Sydney? That’s close enough to make it a race and she may beat her out. They’re both great runners and will be watching!
That might be the best technique. If they go 100% at every hurdle they might find they run out of steam at the end of the race. This way there is less chance of a mistake.
Welp, I guess your prediction was wrong. Not ONLY did Sydney beat the brakes off Femke Bol, so did Anna Cockrell. SYDNEY IS THE GOAT

Chill on the lip fillers bruh! But yes, Femke is running great. She's seasoned as well. She's been working all year at that 14 strides and her efficiency/cadence. She has improved her times every race this year.

The race for 3rd will be crazy, I’m going to be watching two races in one
@micdewitt 🤣 Totally agree. This 400m hurdles on both sides is gonna be seriously close. There are so many good track match-ups at this Olympics. I think it's gonna be the best ever. I think the relays are going to crazy as well. Some small countries have solid teams.
@@SkyTurnsPurplePhotography Yup, been saying the same thing. For the mixed relay you have about 8 countries with a realistic shot at a medal.
@@SkyTurnsPurplePhotography facts. The relays are probably my favorite in reality…I just suppress it because of all the US drops and bad handoffs but I know they’ve worked to get it down to a science now.
@micdewitt We throw people out there, so they're not training together very long. The Dutch, Irish, Pols, DR, Jamaica... they train together for years.
Part of that is because by default, those small countries don't have the luxury of our depth, but with handoffs, it makes them competitive. We don't always win, we do make mistakes. But, with how deep we are, on paper, we should be murdering every relay.
Those Polish smoked us last Olympics in the mixed 400. I live in Arizona, which is about the size of Poland. AZ is way bigger than the Netherlands and Ireland, also Jamaica. It blows my mind when relays jump off, and we either don't win or barely win. Even the DR has had some good recent teams.
I dig the relays, they're a genius way of making track a team sport. I wish there was a Diamond League event that was the U.S. versus Europe where it is all relay teams. The Euro teams would be the top 4 based on time rankings. Maybe do it every 2 years, also Latin America versus Asia. Then, the winners from each face off and that determines the ultimate world relays. It would be the 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1500.
She’s still in the peaking phase. No one close to push her. The Olympics and Sydney will bring out her peaked best.
Let's not forget that one time she got pushed really hard, she fell. We shall see how it works in Paris.
@@avabrown5259 Think you may have a selective memory.
@@quizman365 How is that selective? She fell and USA won the 4x400 relay. She's a HECK of a 400 meter runner but she did fall.

I hope that wasn't here peaked best because both Sydney AND Anna Cockrell cooked her.

Sydney already said that she won't do hurdles in Paris.

However, a difference in PB of 0.3 seconds is small enough that the Form of the day can decide who is the winner. And there are number of things to consider here.
1.) Bol has rapidly closing the gap to mcLaughlin. In terms of their PB: in 2022: 1.59 sec, in 2023: 0.8 sec, in 2024: 0.3 sec.
2.) Recent analysis shows that Femke Bol is actually slightly FASTER than McLaughlin over the hurdles
3.) Bol ran the 50.95 at 994 meter altitude (gives about 0.1 to 0.2 sec advantage)
4.) However, McLaughlin ran all her "really fast" times on the superfast Beynon track at Hayward Field. McLaughlins fastest time on any other track is 51.46
5.) McLaughlin peaked very early at the US trials. There is a good chance that she peaked TO early
6.) Bol has not been pushed to her limit since she switched to the 14 step stride in 2023. Since then Bol has won ALL her races with 15 meter or more and normally not even being winded. The same goes to a certain degree for McLaughlin, however mcLaughlin was ABSENT for more then a year.
