Saints: Stay completely still and they won't notice you
The way Jerry Jones treated McCarthy should scare away any coach with any self respect. The Dallas cap situation - $90 million in cap space in 2025 in Dak Prescott, $20 million in void years, $15 million in dead cap space - should scare away any coach with any desire to win.
He's treated them that way the entire tenure of his ownership
There’s only 32 head coaching spots. People will step on each other for a chance to even get an interview. I see your point. But a lot of guys want to make that leap into head coach
@@chandlerblachut3878for sure but you want to be the team that gets first choice like the chargers getting harbaugh
People forget the Bears head coach single handedly, cost the Bears wins against the Lions, Packers, Vikings, and Commanders. All of which were playoff teams this year.
that Bears roster was talented enough to win 12+ games with the right coaching staff. Their roster blows Washington's out of the water talent wise. The Bears just never make the right decision when it comes to coaches.
That's true bears don't have that bad of a team
The NFC North fraud allegations being thrown around are SOLELY the fault of all the coaches not named Dan. (Lions fan hopes it stays that way lol)
I didn't realize it was the coach who ran with the ball instead of throwing it away with no timeouts left. That's crazy.
What did the coach do to lose vs the Commanders? Was it the 80 yards passing in the first 3 quarters?
@@Ryan-wx1bi Playing soft coverage to let them even get close enough to attempt the hail mary
Everyone forgetting the saints
I don't blame them
Well to be fair everyone forgets about the saints their the most forgettable nfl team probably
I see them getting Aaron Glenn
Well then they shouldn't forget about their negative cap space
Saints new coach will get fired before they get under the cap 💀
The perennial bad teams (Bears, Jets, Jags, etc) just need a mid head coach like McCarthy. If they had 5 years of 10-7, 9-8, 11-6 type seasons and go like, 2-5 in the playoffs? Those teams would be ECSTATIC about that type of stability and success. Obviously at some point you need to progress, but those teams have either been REAL bad for a long time or had a flare up here or there for a season or season and a half before falling off a cliff again. Like, we all clown on the Steelers, but how much would Carolina or Arizona's fan bases LOVE to be in the playoffs every single year with a winning record?
Cowboys because of Jerry Jones being the owner and GM.
Jags because of Baalke as their GM and Khan being the owner.
Badness will follow as long as Jones (Cowboys), Johnson (Jets), McCaskey (Bears) and Davis (Raiders) are in charge of making decisions for their teams. Changing coaches will just be like painting over a problem.
Jerry Jones is living off of whatever's keeping Virginia McCaskey alive, I just know it
@@soapsatellite It’s crazy she’s still alive at 102.
It’s George who’s the problem.
4 way tie for 1st place.
-Jerry Jones will only ever hire a coach he can wear like a sock puppet.
-Trent Baalke exists.
-Woody Johnson exists.
-The Davis nepo baby is arguably the single most inept owner in the NFL.
Brady offsets Davis a little, no lame duck GM to deal with and a ton of cap space, Raiders are a great spot
@@Zeffpenguin Michael Jordan and the Charlotte Hornets. Enough said.
Not just Woody Johnson, but also his kid. Also, the Saints need not a rebuild, but an entire overhaul, and they're stuck with Carr's contract.
@@Zeffpenguin they don't have a QB and they're not in position to draft one. Kirk Cousins incoming.
@ no QB means no pressure to win. Either ride with AOC while stockpiling weapons or pick up a bridge QB in free agency whether Fields, Darnold or Jones. It’s not like Goff is the highest upside guy in the world. Johnson should be confident enough in his coaching to make the most of an average to below average guy
Well, the good thing about the Cowboys job is that you probably won't get fired in the middle of your first season. Jerry will let you coach out that first contract. If somehow despite Jerry you're able to win there (I know, very unlikely) you'd have legendary status.
With the Jaguars you'll have to deal with Baalke, and when he's finally fired, it will take the head coach with him. At least the expectations are lower.
The Jets are the Jets, at this point a head coach there won't get blamed for not doing well. The owner no owns that as well.
The Raiders, and you have to deal with Brady's expectations now, which might be untethered from reality. No QB, heading to a rebuild and in a tough division going against Andy Reid, Harbaugh and the bountygate guy.
The Saints don't have much going for them, but you'll probably get to do a rebuild and maybe they'll give you the time to do it. It feels like it's a cleaner situation than the Raiders.
The Bears might already have their QB, so maybe that makes it more attractive than the rest. The expectations are low as well. Their division looked good but personally I think two of those three teams don't really have a QB (sorry Grossi, Love is overrated).
That's my order but the truth is, there are only 32 HC jobs, any of those jobs is offered to a candidate, they should take it. Those opportunities don't always come back. Not everyone can do what Harbaugh did and turn an offer down because he knew he'd get more than next year (was it with the Vikings? can't remember)
You probably don’t know this but there has been a great deal of change among the Detroit position coaches, especially on defence, over the last few years in anticipation of both Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson leaving for HC jobs.
The Lions have three in house candidates for both DC and OC. At least two of them have interviewed for outside Co-ordinator positions this cycle. I suspect the Lions are going to go with guys on staff already to keep some continuity, but you never know.
Out of all of those vacancies, Bears are the most attractive imo. They have potential and you always have the feeling they are just a couple of pieces away from succeeding.
Cowboys? I would think that having to deal with both ownership/GM and sky-high expectations makes them less attractive. But on the other hand they have a top QB and it is arguably one of the biggest franchises. So I think they'll find their guy despite being late to the party for no reason.
Jaguars are sort of so and so. Team has potential but was for whatever reason not utilizing it. GM on the other hand... He needs to leave before any higher tier candidate is even interested.
Least attractive are the Jets imo. Holy hell. Absolute clown show on all levels. And then there is the QB situation. Either Rodgers returns and you'd have to deal with his diva antics. Or he doesn't and you don't have any QB at all. Who in his right mind (and who actually wants to succeed and not just make a quick money grab) would want to go there?
Problem with bears is that their coaching staff (higher ups), atleast for QBs all need to go. Until that’s fixed, the Bears will be bad.
Raiders are an interesting opening too imo. They have a couple good pieces, and you get to potentially hand pick your franchise QB in what's going to be a new dynamic in ownership.
Dallas has a decent QB... BUT, Prescott also has a long history of inconsistent play and has been particularly bad against anyone with a better than .500 record. And coming out of the 2016 class, while he's the only one that is still with the team that drafted him, it should be noted that both Wentz and Goff have more playoff wins than Prescott and played in fewer playoff games than Prescott.
@@SamuelJamesNary For me, Dak is beyond overrated. He is if Sam Darnold landed on a good team right out of college. Dak has done nothing for the boys. He has the same playoff record as Tony Romo. If you were to out Dak on another team like the Jags, they would go 5-12.
@@SamuelJamesNary Dak is probably a "good" qb, but he's being paid like a great one. I assume that would-be NFL coaches take salary cap flexibility of the team into their evaluation.
It's the jets. It will always be the jets when you have a teenager giving a grown man orders for his elderly dad.
of course Grossi wants McCarthy on the bears
For McCarthy outta of the 4 teams. The bears is the best option for them.
Who wouldn't 🍿
@ he's just not great, he's subpar and for a team to want to reach for someone like that doesn't show a lot of hope. Ben Johnson would be much better imo and would be better for Caleb's development. I'd even take Pete Carroll over McCarthy
The average tenure of a head coach is 3 years. If I were Ben Johnson and Araron Glenn, I’d park my ass with the lions and just see if I can get more money. With the head coaches landscape right now, you’re almost BEGGING to be fired with in 3 years.
I’m going to be honest, I don’t think the Lions lose Aaron and Ben. If they lose in the playoffs but make it to the SB I think there’s a “Job’s not finished” mentality. If they do win the SB what team would they want to go to that’s the right situation for them? Ben Johnson has already talked about how he only wants to go if the situation is right and personally I can’t see a situation with the current teams looking for a head coach that is right. Maybe Aaron Glen leaves after a SB win to coach somewhere else but I can seriously see them sticking together after this season.
Giants are drafting Travis Hunter, and then maybe a QB project in the second round. Not an ideal situation, but they screwed themselves when they beat the Colts.
They could just trade up
The Jags or Jets are definitely the most unappealing situations. Jags stupidly kept their gm and the Jets are…. Well, you know.
I’d say Jags are definitely worst situation.
Jets at least as of now have a Roster. On the other hand they’re the Jets
I don't get how Dallas can be appealing with the way Jerry has been doing things lately.
@@LdyVder you can probably be pretty content with the roster going in if you’re a head coach.
All of these teams need a couple years of cutting dead weight, staying out of major free agency moves, and just reset to factory settings or however you want to describe it. Throw the saints in that group too.
Washington Commanders say hi. Both the Bears, Cowboys and Jags could easily be playoff teams next year.
apparently Aaron Glenn said that his top choice is to coach the Jets
The answer is The Chicago Bears, without knowing anything about the Macaskys And ignoring all the great talent on the current team.
That organization doesn't just excel at losing(which is career poison for a coach) They also often end up in jail which is fucking wild
The Saints job is actually kind of attractive. Good ownership. Solid GM. This job is not talked about much, probably because I think it is pretty much settled for Aaron Glenn. He is the prohibitive HC in New Orleans.
No QB, negative $, and probably their best player has concussion issues.
Being a Cowboys fan… it is possible to win there but that is dependent on dealing with Jones being cheap in FA. Extremely cheap in FA. Along with coordinators probably being out of your hands. It’s just not incredibly likely given Jones being the GM.
Mark these words! If Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn leave. IF!! The next coordinators will be Tanner Engstrand as OC and Kelvin Sheppard as the DC
The way you keep your coordinators from getting poached, get very talented coordinators who have failed repeatedly as head coaches.
No one will poach Hugh Jackson.
Vic Fangio getting passed around every season
The worst job is the Cowboys job, hands down.
Followed closely behind by the Jets.
Relegation in the NFL (MLB and NBA as well) should absolutely be a thing.
As much as I hate the cowboys (which is a LOT), they at least have a decent QB along with other talent on the team. And say what you will about Jerry Jones, but the man seems actually very supportive as an owner dedicated to win a super bowl. As a GM, there's a lot to be desired, but I still wouldn't say it's "hands down" the worst HC opening because I wouldn't want to deal with the horrible situation the Jets have.
@ QB is irrelevant; what’s important is ownership and GM. Look at the Broncos when Sean Payton took the job; QB was washed, but ownership and GM were solid. Now a year later, the Broncos with a rookie quarterback made a playoff run.
If you’re taking over a team, the QB is the least important part of one’s decision making.
@zacharyfett2491 You kind of helped my point by mentioning Denver, it was a horrible team last year and coaches don't last very long on teams that are bad. Now they have a good season with a decent QB and there's no longer a hot seat. Success is the most important thing for a coach to have, and a good QB is really going to help you have success
I dunno, the Cowboys HC has really good job security for some reason
@ That’s certainly true. Just gotta hold a clipboard and sacrifice your dignity.
The Cowbums should get Herschel Walker for CTE HC
02:04 it still astounds me how many people just throw the benefit of the doubt towards the bears. i'm not even saying the roster is bad, but whatever idiocy happens behind closed doors for years that leads to mediocrity.... they have had it for decades. a coach coming in to the bears is not grabbing that roster and making it work right away, its going to be a multiple season job... and its probably going to lead to "culture" hires in the draft and free agency to try and fix them
Least attractive are Raiders and Bears due to division, ownership, and huge questions at QB
I SO want Deion with the Cowboys! Him and Jerry?...MUST SEE TV!
We don't need a second circus act. Jerry is enough.
@@soapsatellite 🤣🤣Good answer!
Bears by far
With only 7 Million in cap space? The Cowboys played themselves. Waiting to the last possible moment, To extend, Dak Prescott (Who has a no trade clause) to CeeDee Lamb. And they have yet to extend Micah Parsons? Jerry up to his meddling gambles as usual...
What Jerry meant to say was "All-In The Headlines."
Until Jerry steps down or dies the cowboys job is the worst
Jets #1
Cowgirls #2
Saints are the worst. They are dead last in cap space and they will never be good with Carr but also not bad enough to get a top pick to reset at QB. Their roster is average at best and doesn't have a lot of promising young talent. Probably at least 3 years from competing for anything noteworthy and thats if they hit on a QB.
The Saints will require Divine Intervention to even remotely be "average" with the situation they're in for the rest of this decade. Their only player of note is an oft-injured RB going into his 9th season, with an atrocious salary cap situation and a few seasons of going 3-14 to get the #1 or #2 draft picks to completely rebuild the roster. The return of the "Aints" is inevitable. Get those paper bags ready in New Orleans.
Jaguars.
Jets
Personally I think being the Vikings head coach is thw worst job. You have to have faith, knowing all along that at some point the minions of Satan are going to keep you out of the Super Bowl.
I think. Aaron Glen gets a job and. Ben Johnson stays
Trevor is a talented QB? Since when?
talented =/= good
@@TheMattTrakker Except that is precisely what it means.
My bad it means master/expert.
the jets is the least desirable by far.
I recken dallas would be the worst place for a coach. ....that ridiculous moniker "america's team" is quite an albatros to carry around the neck........
The jets suck
We all LOVE train wrecks. Those that say otherwise are liars. The worst place to Coach? Dallas by far. The Culture created by Jerry Jones is a Cancer. Until Jerey stops giving interviews...no real Coach will go there. Only leftovers. Next on the list...Jets. Until someone grows up and tells Aaron he isn't good enough...this won't change. Rodgers thinks he is smarter than everyone...and refuses to be a team player. Third place is a tie...Raiders and Panthers. Why? Because their owners are too impulsive. Look at that...4 train wrecks for the same reason...owners.
