As a Lions fan, I’m used to seeing former Lions players in-division. Swift. Hockenson. No big deal. But watching a highly-coveted assistant take an in-division head-coaching job within five minutes of face-planting in the playoffs just hits differently.
As a Bears fan - of course I want them to get it right. But this time I won't be upset because they actually went and got the consensus best coordinator available. With a full resume to back it up.
Tom going on about HC experience is hilarious. Can anyone name another job where the best qualification you can have in sucking so bad at the position that you get fired?
I think us Bears fans just want results. We're happy to get the guy that we actually wanted during a HC hiring, but again, we've won the offseason how many years in a row, now? Last year and the year before that with the DJ trade? Lol. And at the end of the day, the Bears desperately need O Line and Ben Johnson's play calling doesn't work without having at least a DECENT O Line. Either way, 🐻⬇!!
Bro, nobody cared when Ben Johnson was running trick plays over the last 2-3 years, until it didn't work one time in a playoff game. Before that, lions fans LOVED his trickery. It's hilarious.
I was always scared about losing to Washington. I thought the Lions were overhyped for that game, and that it would bite them in the ass. Sadly, it turns out I was right. It wasn't just that we lost, it was the way that we lost. We got our asses handed to us. If our coordinators phoned it in because they already has other gigs lined up, that's a major problem. Not just for the Lions, but for the league as a whole. Hopefully, we can come back stronger next year. Just as long as we don't regress back to being the same old Lions.
I just think it is a bad look and shouldn't be allowed. I don't think any team should be able to interview coaches until the Superbowl is over. It would be like Free Agency starting as soon as the season ends, but we still have the playoffs going on.
I don't think there's ever been a coach who got less out of his players and was given as much time to do so than Eberflus. So by default the Bears will be better under Johnson. And Bears fans talking trash this off season aren't truly Bears fans. Almost all of us have had our pride and ego ground down to a fine dust by these last two seasons by management and ownership selling us hype and hope. Such things no longer exist in the Bears universe.
As a lions fan, that was the worst game plan of the year by both our coordinators. I couldn’t believe what I was watching by the 2nd quarter. They both completely mailed it in.
@@NirvzHDthey turned the ball over because they didn’t trust the defense. They didn’t trust the defense because it was already shorthanded, but players were playing really beat up and they lost a key cornerback to start. This was a historically injured defense. Most of the guys playing were dealing with serious injuries.
@@Cujobob they didn't trust the defense so Jamo, a wide receiver, threw into quadruple coverage? Surely you can't be this dense. Didn't you give away a fumble, and Goff airmailed a pass? That's not a problem of trust. They played bad. Sometimes it's that simple.
@ Jamo didn’t throw into quadruple coverage, he just threw to a covered receiver instead of running on an option. Yes, that’s a great example. The offense decided to dial up a trick play to gain a bunch of yards quickly instead of taking what was available. It wasn’t needed there. This is exactly what I’m talking about.
The thing with packers coaches not named the flower, they all kind of suck once they leave. Especially the offensive ones who may have rode Rodgers to a second job
This won’t effect the Packers’ overall record. They were 1 - 5 in the NFC North. Now the Packers will be 0 - 6. Unless Chicago doesn’t get a new special teams coordinator.
Winning the Super Bowl would not increase their salary. I guarantee you they’ve already agreed on a salary. No franchise is going to sit around and wait to see if their coach candidate wins a Super Bowl so that way they can increase their salary if they do win. What a stupid take
As a Lions fan, I will forever hate Ben Johnson and hopes that he never wins the north nor win a single division game, nor win a single playoff game. He threw a big game and basically lied to everyone in Detroit and then goes to a division rival thinking that he has a shot and a higher chance of winning it all in Chicago when he just had a chance in Detroit. He threw it all away and because of that, Idc if we never win a Super Bowl, I want Ben Johnson to be the worst coach in the NFL next year and gets fired immediately next season. F Ben Johnson and F the Bears.
Ben Johnson is not the architect of the Lion's offense Dan Campbell is. Ben Johnson had to learn Dan Campbells offense and all he ever did was call plays and maybe suggest a few trick plays but that's all he ever did for the offense.
short answer: no long answer: hell no actual answer: the bears have had 9 coaches in 30 years since Iron Mike, two have a winning record, they've used 30+ QBs in that time, its just a mess of an organization. The track record is not there
when Ben Johnson said "job's not done" after 2023, apparently he meant Matt Eberflus's job, not the job of winning the Super Bowl. I wish him only embarrassment and failure.
Perna, you know the torment of being a Denver fan I am a Life long Bears fan 1985 was a long time ago winning a SB I was Banging chicks 2 at a time and Banging Rails 6 in. long , we NEVER had a QB McMahon was OK the Defense was off the hook, bottom line the Bears can't pick the right QB could of had Maholmes, J.Daniels F'ing Nightmare and No!! Williams will be a Bust. F@ck !!!!!!!!
I thought this even before he went to the enemy. Ben Johnson can't galvanize a locker room as head coaches are meant to do. He has the skill set of a coordinator and that's it, and that's fine. This whole notion that good coordinators are meant to be head coaches is idiotic.

Looking forward to _A Bears fan reaction to firing Ben Johnson_ video in about three years.
As a Bears fan, I am cautiously optimistic. I've seen too much to have blind faith, but I do have this kernal of hope that this is the way.
Dw, packers fans are gonna start running him out of town In about 2 years unless he starts winning playoff games
Tom going on about HC experience is hilarious. Can anyone name another job where the best qualification you can have in sucking so bad at the position that you get fired?
Perna is so worried...haha
Most Bears fans know nothing will change until the ownership does, just like in Washington
But when do you start ignoring ownership that has no clue about the product it owns?
Love the sarcastic pot stirring. Never change Grossi.
I'll say this. It's the best decision we could have made 😊
I can only hope. I’ve watched almost every other team hit on coaches and now, maybe we can finally get in on that action.
Right now, I’m just happy that the Bears finally made the big splash. This was the first time we didn’t settle in a while

you will draft 7 wrs and you will like it
@@sergeanthattie9822 Nope. All 8 of our draft picks, all on O Line and D Line. THEN I will like it. 😂
Might need a new punter also. Last guy's leg has to be getting worn out already lol.
Screenshot this: Ben Johnson is gonna get fired mid-season in 3 years for a trick play
Is that an upgrade over getting fired mid-season for comically bad clock management?
Bro, nobody cared when Ben Johnson was running trick plays over the last 2-3 years, until it didn't work one time in a playoff game. Before that, lions fans LOVED his trickery. It's hilarious.
Where is the person that was talking about how they like Tom because he's objective?
I have hope for bears fan maybe Johnson can finally break the cycle

Tom knows damn well Hackett didn’t coordinate shit with the packers
Yeah LaFleur was calling the plays. Josh McDaniels is the better example.
Kings of the offseason
The lions packers have gone 6-6 since Ben Johnson has been part of the lion organization.
The biggest challenge will be if ol Leroy Jenkins Caleb can learn to play in structure.

Fired after week 10.
We have to assume it is the wrong decision because it was made by the Bears.
Nathaniel Johnson
Sounds like a lotta nervousness from the cheese state
"But what if he kind of sucks?"

Todd Haley was a great offensive coordinator, now He's a broken Man.
Have the Bears done anything about their ownership, or their poor management?
Probably a great hire, but I don't see the Bears rising too high until ownership changes.....and Poles is gone.
As a Packers fan, we either can't have anything because of SOMETHING with our team OR teams "poaching" out good coordinators and players...
GPG
Well, at least the Ben Johnson curse is over in DET now. He got way too much bad juju doing a 180 midflight last year vs WAS.
did Matt LaFleur have any head coaching experience before going to the Packers Tom?
Bears threepeated as offseason champs.
I would take Sam Darnold over Jordan Love at this point.

lol bears fans going for the 3 peat! Your 2023, 2024,and soon to be 2025 offseason champs!!!
Not until they get better ownership.
