Any temple in which Christ reigns physically and personally, and yet at the same time endorses actual animal sacrifice is an abomination and a heresy. Christ was and is the one sacrifice for all time! There is no more need for sacrifice. I say this because the function of the OT temple was for the purpose of sacrifice for the atonement for sins. Jesus fulfilled this in Himself.
The unfortunate ignorance of this statement lies in the fact that not all temple sacrifices were for sin or atonement. Yes, those will no longer be a part of the future temple worship. But there are many other kinds of sacrifices besides those, meant only for worship and having nothing to do with sin or atonement. 🙏

@@boaz63this shows you do not understand what the prophecy of the millennium is about. Read Ezekiel and the coming temple. It says black and white that there will be animal sin offerings, not memorial or in remembrance, but full bore First Temple sacrifices.
A very good book on the subject is by C C Ryrie simply entitled "Dispensationalism". Mr Ryrie is very respectful to the covenant theology position and appeals to all believers to be charitable in their assessments of these 2 schools of thought.
The reason why there is some anger and resentment towards Dispensationalists is because many feel that they were used simply for Israel's benefit. They went to Church to learn about Jesus Christ and were basically indoctrinated with some pseudo-religious form of Christian Zionism. That's where the resentment comes from. They wanted to learn about Christ, and were taught 'Bless Israel and be Blessed.'
After Jesus rose from the dead, he spoke about him fulfilling everything about him in the Law of Moses, and the Prophets. With the attitude like what you have, you would have missed the FIRST coming of Jesus. The Jews had the book, and they didn't see it. You want Jesus to speak PLAINLY. But he doesn't do that.
Coming from an Independent Fundamental Baptist background I have to agree with this statement. They even had an Israeli flag on the platform. Sigh...
@@ByGraceThruFaith8453 There is a Church building that a few Churches would use, and they used to have an Israeli flag on one side of the stage, and an American flag on the other. It's been gone for about 5 years now though.

I agree, we have been manipulated, they have made us think that we would be cursed if we disfavor( criticize The State Of Israel ) and that’s Christian are afraid , we were saved by the Blood Of Jesus Christ on the CROSS, so that we can be confident, nothing can separate us from the love of God, we as Christian do not owe Anything to the State of Israel. Hod command us to preach the good news to the world and that’s include the people that live in Israel instead going there to plant olive trees in the new neighborhoods which are located in the occupied territories . Both Jews and Arab person will go there hell if they do not accept Jesus as a personal savior 😢
Having spent decades as a Baptistic-Arminio-Dispy struggling to making what I was being taught fit with scripture. This lead to my becoming Reformed in my latter years.
Whatever environment you're in, eat the meat and spit out the bones. I've been to Baptist and PCA churches, and found that there were 'bones' in each....dispensationalism....hyper-Calvinism (no free will)....paedo-baptism....
At the end of the day, we just need to read our Bibles and treat commentaries/creeds as error-prone tools, at best.

"There Really IS A Difference" by Renald Showers. EXCELLENT exposé of each school and their history. Also, "kai" is not between two verbs therefore is not a conjunction but rather a distinguishing. "Them" being the Gentile believers and "Israel of God" being the believing Jewish remnant.
I was brought up in a reformed church, but was periodically fed dispensationalism, specifically in regard to the second coming. I'm probably a confused heretic. However I do have a few theological degrees to my name, including a Masters, which I state here, simply to show that my theological enquiry hasn't ever stopped. I have been involved in Christian ministry for 37 years. As Jesse argues for dispensationalism in the later half of this lecture, what I am hearing is a defence of coventantalism.....the argument from Galatians 6, is not an argument that trumps covenantalism at all, in fact the same statements made by Jesse in support of dispensationalism could equally be used to argue for covenantalism......unless there is something I'm not understanding about dispensationalism. In my Biblical understanding I can't see a conflict in maintaining the covenant as being continued through the church, not Israel, and Israel continuing to exist as an entity in history and prophecy, some of which is still to be fulfilled. Maybe that's due to my mixed up theological heritage, but I simply don't see the need to hold a dispensational position, with all its inherent baggage, merely to explain the difference between Israel and the Church. I know Jesse didn't mention this here, but nor can I hold a convuluted dispensationalist view of the end times, despite being drip fed this in my younger days, again I don't see the Biblical necessity to create such a speculative structure, when, to my mind, an amillennial view accounts for the breadth of the Biblical account without the need for hermenutical gynastics.
Technically nobody should be calling themselves reformed if they teach dispensationalism. Which is why it’s ironic that John MacArthur has become the face of Reformed Theology in the USA.
How about Galatians 3:18?
18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
The promise was never dependent on the behavior of the children of Israel. Not only that, the promise is twofold, not just one fold.
1. CARNAL
a. Promised Land = Small Piece of Real Estate in the Middle East.
b. Promised Singular Seed = Isaac
c. The plural Seed of Isaac, thru Jacob (Israel), gets the land, as opposed to Ishmael, and Esau.
2. SPIRITUAL
a. Promised Land = Heaven
b. Promised SINGULAR Seed = Jesus (Galatians 3:16)
c. The Plual Seed of Jesus gets Heaven
Both are true, and neither is dependent on behavior, all because the promise was long before...THE COVENANT, aka The Law of Moses. The only covenant condition was to be circumcised, based on the promise that Isaac's Seed would inherit the land.
So I'm perplexed as to why it is called, "Covenant" Theology at all. There is no such thing as Old Covenant Israel, let alone New Covenant Spiritual Israel, if the promise was never conditioned on the old covenant to begin with.
So the Jews rejected Jesus. Ya, ok, so? They were supposed to kill Jesus and reject him. Father, forgive them, for they know not... what? Know not? Why?
Deu 29:4. Contrast that with Gentiles in Romans 15:21. But look at what Jesus has to do for them to understand... John 9:39-41.
Keep in mind the story of Joseph and his brothers. That's prophetic.
So, they killed the prophets. According to the law, false prophets are supposed to be killed. But...Deu 29:4.
God is not a respect of persons. But, SAUL, who became apostle Paul, who murdered Christians...ya!!
Bottom line, Jews get land, Christians, whether Jew, Gentile get heaven. And it's by grace in both, lest any man should boast. Ezekiel 36 explains that very well, when God said, paraphrasing, "I'm bringing you all back, not for your sake, but for my holy name." He said that twice.

“Reformed” technically means to be in the stream of the Protestant Reformation.
It took largely 4 paths:
1. Lutheran
2. Calvinist-Presbyterian (with a Baptist variant)
3. Arminian (a variant of Calvinism), with its own later Wesleyan variant
4. Anabaptist, from which most of today’s Baptist and non-denominational groups have come.
All of these groups had adherents who preceded the Reformation but who gained traction in Europe after Luther’s 1517 thesis (the watershed moment).
Dispensationalism was a reaction to artificial labels within CT and to increased research on better understanding the Hebrew Scriptures and God’s promises to the nation of Israel in the OT, deemed as yet unfulfilled.
Followers in Group 2 above have tried to hoard the “Reformed” label and diminish or even disdain all other viewpoints. But it is both bad form and bad history. Not all of these perspectives can be most true, but all are reformed.
None are RCC or EO, but rather embrace the 5 Solas and the reclamation of the gospel by grace through faith in Christ and His work for us.
The "hermenutical gynastics" belong entirely to the covenantalists. When history and theology don't coincide your history is right and your theology is always wrong. Thus, covenantalists are forced to spiritualize selected history and prophecies in Scripture which don't match.
Rather than resort to these special word meanings and spiritualization of texts, dispensationalists are aware that God sometimes changes how he deals with humans: whole world, kill most in water, focus on Jews in earthly and societal isolation (includes focus on Jesus) and now back to whole world with St. Paul. Get it?
This gracious low expectation of God for salvation will not go on forever but only God knows when it will end so we need to be telling people to be ready (by believing God's promise of salvation wholly apart from personal virtue) lest they miss this remarkable opportunity to be saved by grace alone thru faith alone.
@@edwardwalsh5477 The point is that God doesn't change how he deals with people. The Covenant point of view is that His promises are eternal, not for one people in one period. For example, a promise that may appear fulfilled in Isreal (the modern state?), actually hasn't seen its fulfulment entirely because its ultimate end is with true Israel, the seed of Abraham (Gal 3:16)....which are the heirs of Christ (Gal 3:29). Biblical prophecy is like wheels within wheels, dispensationalism looks at all the little wheels, tries to add them all up, but can't because they appear to paint a picture of a schizophrenic God who is constanlty changing. But when you see how the wheels turn together, how the big picture is moving, the big wheel tunring (the covenant promises), you see a sovereign God who has always acted with Grace, who was always planning for salvation, who was always acting through his son and is continuing to do so now. The covenantal position, which is the theological position throughout the history of the church, paints a picture of a bigger God whose sovereign action is inexorably moving us towards the consumation of all things.
I found this to be very interesting and good and well thought through. I am not a dispensationalist. Rarely do I fully subscribe all the way to any theological concept outside of Jesus’s death and resurrection, and what that means for me and the world. Some people call themselves Calvin as some people call themselves are mini and some people call themselves dispensational list some people believe in replacement theology. Which I do generally believe that the church is Israel’s continuing story. The church hasn’t replaced Israel It’s become a part of Israel. Since Jesus himself is Israel, he sums up the whole nation of Israel within himself. He represents them before the world as the gospel goes out into the ends of the earth living up to God‘s promises that the Jewish people will be alight to all the nations. I genuinely believe there is one covered between GOD and man. Since all these ideas that we even get from the New Testament, come directly from Jews, preaching to us. This isn’t to say that God doesn’t have a role for natural Israel today and in the future. At least for me dispensationalism leaves a lot of holes that I think are unnecessary and create problems with apologetics. Which is why I would say that I believe some things about dispensationalism, but would put context with covenant theology. In all honesty, though man, I don’t own the corner on theology. I could be wrong, and I think Christian’s today would do themselves a great service today by holding on very lightly with their conceived theological convictions. The Pharisees and the Saggese knew the Bible more than any of us ever will understood the Old Testament more than any of us ever will and they still missed Jesus. Which indicates so could we. Let’s not miss Jesus covenant theology and dispensationalism are great things to know, and understand, and have importance in many ways, but it is not as important as becoming more Christlike, and living a life of service to God and to people.
This is close to my view, after 45 years of studying scripture, and deep diving different theological perspectives, I've concluded that "Theology" is mans attempt to understand God, His ways, His workings, and His Word-primarily from creation to the Fall to ultimate redemption. To me, just as science, in all its disciplines, fall short of understanding the natural world/universe in all its complexity,theology also equally falls short. We see through a glass dimly, but then we shall see face to face. Then, all our errors and excellence in theology will be grasped and understood...and will not matter. They are merely the graspings of children, who thought they knew something about God and his mysteries, not experts...just like Job's friends, and Job himself....where God has the final word. Maybe meditating on the statement, "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the Earth, tell me if you know and have understanding..."
Knowledge puffeth up , and I'm sick of it. When Jesus returns none of this will matter, and all theories will be shown to have lacked SOMEWHERE, but none of us will be arguing about what we got wrong. Just give me Jesus, just let me walk with, and in Him, let me love my brothers with love and not contemp, and I will let him sort it all out.

As I wrote in another comment, should we ignore where (in time) we are and where we're headed and thus not know when we've reached our destination? For the real bible scholar, there are multiple apparent conflicts between what Jesus acted out (no Sabbath) and taught ("go thou and do likewise" to the rich ruler for EARNING of eternal life) vs. Paul's revelation from heaven, from Christ (see acts) of salvation without cost to me paid for by "the lamb of God", Jesus Christ. Getting this wrong will send many to the lake of fire.@@1satisfiedmind

Regarding the climax of Gal 6 and arriving at an understanding of “The Israel of God” being a subset of the true remnant within Israel (rather than an expansion or replacement to the church of Gentiles) - really well done!
This also accords with Paul’s testimonial in Romans 9 where he speaks of himself as being part of the fulfillment of promises to Israel.
This interpretation cuts in both ways: The Israel of God who fulfills promises (the faithful remnant in Gal 6 and those like Paul in Rom. 9 who come to Christ) distinguish from both classical Dispensational and Covenant Theologies. The fulfillment is to Jews (not the church), but as individuals of faith, rather than the nation as an entity. It still comes back to those who are in Christ as the True Israelite.
I’m a dispy and have been a Presbyterian, pca that is and have never heard this from the pulpit. However I do believe there is a difference Isreal and the church and eschatology.
Genesis records Abraham to be the father of MANY NATIONS, not a nation.

Through the Seed of Abraham will ALL nations be blessed. The Seed is Jesus Christ. Galatians 3:16.
I think the dispensational view breaks up the Bible too much. Though a dispensationalist may say that God saves by grace through faith throughout the Bible, their way of dividing up the Bible implies that God is different in the Old Testament than in the New. God is the same; He never changes.
Years before I ever started looking into covenant theology, I recall thinking--while sitting in a Sunday sermon in a dispensational church--"Abraham was saved by grace through faith. I'm saved by grace, through faith. David was saved by grace, through faith. Rahab was saved by grace, through faith. Paul was saved by grace, through faith. God is the same, all the time." I would say I came to this understanding in spite of the dispensational church, rather than because of it.
By way of critique in this presentation, the Davidic Covenant is not the first time the Messiah was promised. He was first promised in Genesis. So, the reader of the Bible will then be looking for this promise to be fulfilled. Who would this Seed be that would crush the serpent's head? The Old Testament then talks about where He will come from. More specifics are given about the coming Savior as time passes. A rather big portion of the revelation was given to David, letting all readers and hearers of the word know that the Savior would come from David's line. More and more specifics about the coming Messiah were given even after David's time.

His Purpose to Humanity
For Moses, David, and the Jews, they were saved by faith and works... This was clear, for example in David's case, as he was afraid of losing the holy spirit due to sin (psalms 51:11-12)....
...This was because Jews were under the law and Jesus did not die on the cross at this time.... Otherwise, what is the whole point of Jesus dying and resurrecting on the cross...???
When we don't divide we get all sorts of heresy....
What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word.
Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary.
What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below.
New Covenant Whole Gospel:
Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him.
He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth.
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.
1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

@@fireee5488the Holy Spirit was not indwelling David for sealing and salvation the way He does for the church.
Paul very clearly teaches that no one could be saved by the law. That the law was not for salvation but was a schoolmaster pointing to the One who would save.
The law was given long after the Abrahamic covenant. All the promises of the Abrahamic covenant were based on God’s faithfulness, not Israel’s (or Abraham’s seed).
The law was given to increase Israel’s sin and drive them to God. God said so Himself.
It is not correct to say that the Jews were under the law, and that’s why Jesus died; to release them from the law.
Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets. And He did so by coming as a spotless Lamb (according to the law) offering the kingdom (as was prophesied), then being rejected by Israel (as the prophets said) because they would not appoint Him as their King, and dying to offer atonement for anyone who would trust in Him by faith.
Great job Jesse! I recently finished teaching through Galatians and we spent considerable time on the Biblical Covenants, as well as on 6:16 and the confusion out there about the term “the Israel of God”. Michael Vlach’s material was very helpful, but I wish I had seen this video before! I’ve saved it for later, as this issue is only going to get more attention and need more clarity and explanation in the future. 🙏❤️
You should do a sampling of all the commentaries and teachers and church fathers prior to Darby and Scofield to see if a single one of them doesnt see the "Israel of God" as being all believers of all races. I havent yet found one.
Good point about questioning baptism as a replacement of old covenant circumcision. I'm not a dispensationalist or covenentalist, but have been wondering about that covenant theology belief. By the end of the day, we use theology frameworks, but have to realize they are foreign to the text. They can help, but can hurt if we lean on them too heavily.
No need to wonder about what marks the distinctiveness of Believers in Christ's blood vs. circumcision. Search in your concordance for "this is the New Testament in my blood" and you will discover the answer there.

Israel is limited to the Family of Jacob. They have special oath sworn by YHWH to a piece of land, the Land of Israel. You cannot quote 1 Bible verse that says that Israel is the Church, which has no claim on that land.

@@lufknuht5960 Interestingly, the n.t. never mentions the return to the land plainly, whereas most all other o.t. promises are mentioned. Jesus said that the "land" goes to the meek. Hebrews says implies that the land were figurative, and that we look for the heavenly land rather than the real estate in Israel. Revelation doesnt mention it, but does show the new Jerusalem, which is the bride, the church, and all believers are obviously part of that with no racial distinctions. @ Peter 3 says that, upon His return, Jesus burns up the earth and creates the new earth.
At 18:09 the speaker misrepresents many dispensationalist views. They don't believe everyone was saved by Eph 2:8, they believe everyone in the Bible finds their path to salvation by doing what God told them to do.
One must consider if Abraham was saved by Eph 2:8, then why did he not go to the Throne upon his physical death? (Luke 16)
No one goes to the Throne without first being covered by the blood of Christ and the blood could not be spread before it was physically shed.
You are stuck by notions of time. God is unrestrained by time. OT saints were saved in anticipation of Christ’s work, and NT saints following that same work.

Dispensationalists do NOT teach that one finds a path to salvation by doing what God told them to do, if you mean salvation by works. The passage above also says we today are "saved through faith". Rom 3:30 says God will justify the circumcision by faith and the uncircumcision through faith.

Also note in the above passage this Faith is gifted to us. But what faith is it? It is the Faith of Christ (Gal 2:16). It is the Faith that came after the Law (Gal 3:23).

Dispensational interpretation is essential to Christianity -- otherwise you should want to do animal sacrifices. Dispensationalism simply is recognizing that different Bible rules are written to different persons & time periods: Noah was told to build an ark; Israel had dietary rules -- to given to the Church. The Church is not Israel. All scripture is FOR the Church & profitable, but not all is TO the Church. Dispensationalism does NOT teach different "ways" to be saved in different dispensations: Justification is alway by grace through faith & apart from works. Don't believe the slander on this. Of course after the Trinity was clearly revealed in the NT, persons have been required to make the Lord Jesus, 2nd person of God, the specific object of faith (none other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved; but in the OT YHWH is the object of faith without limitation to 2nd person of the Trinity.

Writings of almost all the church fathers and prominent christian teachers prior to Darby can be found on line. It certainly appears that the dispensational way of interpreting scripture was introduced by Darby, then spread by Scofield.

Why is the term "New Covenant" not found in the man-made confessions of those promoting Reformed Covenant Theology, even though the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 is found fulfilled word-for-word in Hebrews 8:6-13?
Why do many Dispensationalists often claim the New Covenant is not in effect yet because it applies only to "Israel", and they do this by ignoring the word "now" in Hebrews 8:6, and they also ignore the word "church" in Hebrews 12:18-24? They also ignore Paul saying we are ministers of the New Covenant in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8.
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.

Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?

What is the historical view ??
I struggle to understand many scriptural references that seem to suggest that Christ (in a first century context) was coming (literally) soon. John the divine was shown things that must "shortly" take place. Many things happened in circa 70AD that resonate with the apocalyptic language of the book of Revelation (but then we haven't for instance seen the new heavens and earth etc etc). Jesus spoke of some in his audience who "would not see death". Also, people often quote that scripture about looking on Christ whom they have pierced. But Jews/Romans in the 21st century - or later - didn't piece Christ - it was done by Romans/Jews in the first century! (albeit many people both Gentiles and Jews still reject him today). Maybe it hasn't been given me to understand this, but I'm never fully convinced by a lot of literal teaching about eschatology. Full preterism doesn't hold water with me, but I can't get away from the feeling that scripture has several 1st century references to the soonness of Christ's return. Maybe it is the Holy Spirit being poured out (being sent in Christ's name), and the giving of everlasting life to believers once the work on Calvary was finished. Maybe it is, as the scripture says, the Godhead making their dwelling place with those that love and follow the commandments of Jesus. Or maybe the paradox, Jesus telling his disciples that he is going away but also that he would never leave or forsake them and that he would be with them to the end of the age. Maybe the people who "look upon him whom they have pierced" were the audience of who listened to Peter's preaching on the day of pentecost, were cut to the heart, and asked what they needed to be saved. (these people being the "Israel of God", the remnant faithful among all the House of Israel). And then the gospel spread further from Jerusalem, many people converting and being baptised into one body.
You're absolutely right! Much of the apostle's teachings indicated nearness/soon to transpire. Christ said "all these things will come upon THIS generation. And they did!

The core problem with covenant theology is that in order to get to that position you are required to spiritualize large sections of the old testament. There are many, many passages talking about the millennium and talking about Israel, living in Jerusalem during that covenant.
Superb explanation both in content and tone. One error, God actually made 2 different Covenants with Abraham. One conditional, for physical Israel, and one unconditional, for the spiritual "children" of Abraham. You're not going to find this idea in commentaries but notice how the pastor had to hedge on wether the Abraham covenant is conditional. Read your Bible, God even made a 2 separate covenants for Ishmael through Hagar and Abraham.

revelation 20 says he say no temple. the temple destroyed and rebuilt was Jesus sacrifice and resurrection. the tribulation took place under Nero (the beast). study the church's historic positions of amillenialism or postmillenialism for a clearer understanding that doesn't add in heresy of Israel and the Animal Sacrifices reintroduced. Nothing more heretical than reintroducing sacrifices when Christ already paid the price. And scripture is clear the church is Israel. We are "grafted in".

@@toolegittoquit_001 I understand your sentiments completely. But here is my take on it:. In the Millennium, there is indication of sacrifices still being offered at Jerusalem. While in that Zechariah 14 chapter, there is no mention of a temple, it seems odd that the sacs and offs would be offered up in the open without the shelter of a temple. The Jews presently are zealous in building the 3rd temple, which if built may or may not get destroyed during the 70th week of Daniel. While it will be desecrated, the 2nd temple also was when Antiochus E. abominated it with his sacrifice of a pig, but was not destroyed until 70 A.D.. If there is a Millennial temple, the wise in heart will know that Jesus is the true tabernacle. My understanding is that the non- Jews and apostate Jews who, however make it into the 1000 year reign of peace will have to subject themselves to the Mosaic rites as a lesson, seeing they were so hateful of the Jews in their lifetime (and the apostate Jews so ignorant of them).

The church does not take the place of Israel, but it is clear that the church is the people of God because of Christ. And it receives titles, promises and commands that Israel received in the O.T.
Replacement theology is a myth. Dispensationalists use it to disparage those who don't hold their beliefs. As a covenantalist I would call what we believe fulfillment theology or expansion theology, in other words, Biblical doctrine.

I was Church of Christ for 34yrs & all as an adult. When I took an honest and independent look at the Bible (specifically the 7th day Sabbath) I started to see a very different construct than what I had been taught all those yrs. Which made me look into the history of the conservative, autonomous, CoC's. That's when I discovered some very alarming things. I had been taught in no uncertain terms we (CoC) was THE Church that Christ built. The exact same church that's referred to in Rom 16:16 and established Act ch2. Churches of Christ are a NT only church. In Christ alone. Speak where it speaks and silent where its silent. All of which I now understand was just protestant based pretext and unwritten / oral dogma. Alexander Campbell and Barton Stones teachings 95% are what I had experienced. Ug..... but praise be to Yah that I now can see without pretext and presupposition.
I now look at the Bible with a very different and I'd say a unfiltered mindset. After a yr of independent study I found a preacher / elder / pastor at a local church who is both a Hebrew and greek expert. He too used to be fundamentalist protestant and has greatly opened my eyes to Halacha, Laws of God, and especially what Paul was trying to speak to.
I don't think I'd label myself as a coventalist but I do see that the new cov. is made with Israel and NOT with..... a new testament only, gentile only..... church started in America 200yrs ago. We gentile believers can be grafted into that new covenant and alongside Israel. I DO see laws of God overlaid with covenants and I DON'T see dispensations of God's laws. @edwardwalsh5477 you are correct. That's because it's a quote from Jermiah 31:31. Back then, it was future tense. The author was making that point, that what Jermiah said back then was now true in Chriat blood. That's why Hebrews 8 is about Jesus mediating that covenant.

Five dispensations have come to pass. We're in the sixth (Church/Grace) and one more to come (Millennial Reign).

4. Moses to Christ

I see 5 dispensations, and there are 2 more dispensations to come. Bringing the total to 7 as there are seven days.
The millennial reign, which is not just 1000 years. There is a 1000 years of peace, but a little season afterwards (Which God calls this whole time of fallen man a little season.), so we have no idea how long that period of time will be. We do know that people will consider a man who dies at 100 years old to have died as a baby. That means a significant amount time will have past, far more than a 1000 years for the 80 year old life span to have been forgotten.
The last dispensation happens after the great white throne judgement, and the burning of the whole Earth. It happens after New Jerusalem descends to our atmosphere. It is the new greater rainbow, and God will no more destroy the Earth, and death is destroyed.
This is the 7th dispensation and the 7th day of God's eternal rest.
(Some place a dispensation in the Adam and Eve era, but I see no true covenant there that marks an age.)
The number of dispensations ( or their agreement to earlier understandings) are a total red herring. Just think of it as promises from ot being literally fulfilled in the way the ot predicted. That is the heart of what is biblical dispensational ism.

The New Testament was written during the "last days" of the Old Covenant world. Those "last days" were the 40-year transition period; 30-AD to 70 AD. This is why all the eschatological passages in the New Testament were addressed to their first century audience and imminent.

I don't know where I fit. I think I fall somewhere in the middle. I believe the mosaic covenant is over because it has been fulfilled in Christ. The new covenant is a continuation of the Abrahamic covenant. We the church are now descendants of Abraham (Gal 3:29). This includes messianic Jews but doesn't include the whole Jewish nation (John 8:39-40). That's the way I understand the scripture. If I am wrong someone please correct me. I am trying to understand theology but it's very complicated.
When you go to the garden shop to buy a long stem yellow rose bush, what you get is a scraggly short stem red rose trunk with long stem Yellow rose branches grafted in. It is apparently cheaper for farms to produce these. The long stem yellow branches never become what the original bush was. They never become scraggly red roses, they remain long stem yellow rose branches but are fed by the old, but now scraggly, trunk. Paul never could have meant that gentiles become Israel when grafted in because horticulture doesn’t work that way. Gentile Christianity depends on the patriarchs, but they must remain what they are. Go to your garden shop and ask the people who know.
I personally believe all this stuff is the church’s version of Greek philosophy. It is both vain, useless and hurtful. It divides the body of Christ for no reason. Jesus didn’t teach this. Men have come up with theories and then argue about it, get followers, divide the church. Are they “right”? Jesus said he wanted us to be one. Even if someone is right, they are wrong to divide the church over non core issues.

Your right the grafted in branch never replaces the trunk. If I interpret the parable correctly, the trunk is Jesus and the branches which are cut off are the Jewish people who have rejected Jesus and we as gentiles have been grafted in and are now part of the tree along with messianic Jews and both of us draw our nourishment and life from the same source, God Almighty.
Read amos 9, zechariah 14 . These will be literally fulfilled. In the future. See how the sinners of my people are killed? (Amos 9) Ethnic, unsaved jews. You are right gentiles will never take the place of Jews. We are not required to be circumcised, or follow any food laws or any other aspect of the law of Moses except to abstain from sin. However, Romans 11:17-24 is clear that gentiles will be grafted into the vine along with messianic Jews and our source will be Jesus Christ. Galatians 3 13-14 says that us gentiles will receive the blessings of Abraham, which means we are also his seed along with messianic Jews, or all who believe in Jesus Christ, or Christians. Unbelieving Jews are not the seed of Abraham (John 8:37-46). Even in Amos 9:12 gentiles will possess the remnant of Edom along with messianic Jews. We're all christian and are saved from God's wrath through the blood of Jesus just as the Israelites were during passover.

Certainly, only John MacArthur can explain his beliefs. However, I have heard him answer the question "Are you a dispensationalist?" this way: He said he is only a dispensationalist in so far as he believes God still has a plan for ethnic Israel. R.C. Sproul has said the same thing: God still has a plan for ethnic Israel.

The "covenant of works" is a misnomer, an incorrect rationale and a contradiction, all in one.
It is a misnomer because it is simply an alias for the law.
It is an incorrect rationale because it assumes Adam was made righteous, when in fact he was unrighteous right from the beginning. That is, there was no "fall", but rather a coming into the realisation that he was a sinner. In this sense it was an ascendency: an ascendency into a knowledge which revealed to him his inadequacy before God. So Adam didn't become a sinner because he sinned, but rather, he sinned because he was a sinner: he proved he was a sinner by sinning.
It is a contradiction because, being an alias for the law, then given that "the law is not made for a righteous man", it assumes Adam was not righteous from the beginning. That is, the basis of the incorrect rationale is that Adam was assumed righteous from the beginning, and the basis for the idea of a covenant of works which is an alias for the law, is that Adam was unrighteous from the beginning.

"All Israel" MUST include the Gentiles. That is what Paul explains about "all Israel". He is not talking out ethnic Israel.

Modern day, 1948 Israel has nothing whatsoever to do with Bible prophecy. Jesus adamantly declared that the kingdom of God would be taken away from the Jews in A.D. 70.

Ekklesia means: called out ones assembled, or congregation of called out ones. The word church comes to us from the Greek kyrios doma, which translated means: Lord's house. The word "church" is the anglicized version of the Germanic word kirck, and the anglo-saxon word circe. As I said, the Greek NT manuscripts do not contain the greek word for church, not a one. One further note: King James gave the Archbishop of Canterbury clear instructions that the KJB translators were not to translate "ekklesia" into "assembly" or "congregation", but to translate it to the word "church" throughout the new KJB. Why? Because he admired the hierarchical structure of Roman catholicism, and he wanted himself distinguished from the people. Ergo: King James became Pope in his own right as Head of the Church of England.

Hippolytus- Treatise on Christ and Antichrist
Which is all about the comparisons between Jesus Christ and a coming Antichrist, from what tribe he will be born, things he will do, wars he will win, etc.
Just so we now when Hippolytus falls in the timeline. He lived about 170AD -235 AD. the two works authored by Hippolytus dealing specifically with end-time prophecy. The first one is entitled The Antichrist. The second one is entitled The End Times.
Now I have books with all these references and others but the book I have found the best at organizing them is Ken Johnson's book "The Endo Times by the Ancient Church Fathers." Some may not agree with some of the commentary but the vast majority of the book is the writings of these early Church fathers with a little commentary. I find it a powerful piece in at least looking at the commentaries of ideas and teachings of the early disciples of the Apostles. Again we have to test them to see if they are biblically accurate however, what I noticed quickly is that these writings are way more controversial and detailed than 99% of the Dispensational preachers out there.
Now it doesn't mean any of these things are correct as far as doctrine but it surely debunks the idea of a "new" doctrine that's a few hundred years old.
Here's the problem, of course we are all believers in Jesus and so we are saved, however, we have doctrines that are opposed to each other. You are either Premill or Postmill, it has to be one and both cannot be true, one is the truth and the other is a lie. The truth is not subjective based on what we believe, the truth here is objective. The same goes for replacement theology, or Calvinism (pre-destination) vs free will, Once Saved Always Saved (OSAS) vs can lose your salvation.
Now none of these changes the reality of our salvation but they do affect how we see the LORD, what we believe about Him, and what the image we have of Him looks like. Hopefully, this helps. Take care.

This message is like a gentle gateway to dispensationalism, because it doesn’t unpack what dispensationalism is. The main distinctions in this message being Israel vs the church, and credo vs pedo baptism. Even these positions were not clearly made, let alone defended, from a covenantalist view. Especially when considering Covenantalism is not defined with baptism. There are many confessional reformed believers who are credo Baptist’s. Anyway... a lot could be said. Suffice it to say, nothing was said (and maybe it will be said in his subsequent messages), about the dark foundation of dispensationalism, about the 5 gospels (at least) that dispensationalists believe, about Israel being on earth in eternity and the church in heaven - never to mix, nor about how God cares, protects, and nurtures his people differently in each dispensation. And on and on... how Paul was a apostle to the gentiles not the jews. In fact many dispensationalists who properly adhere to dispensationalism will admit they follow Paul. Rightly dividing the word means there is some scripture to jews, and some to gentile... and it just keeps going. Dispensationalism has no more validity than Islam or Mormanism- neither of which had a second or third witness of the things they claimed.
In Christianity, a prophet's words were to be tried and judged by other prophets. The doctrine of dispensationalists has NO support from prophets of any sort.
The entire proposition depends upon people being ignorant of the fact that the prophet's of old knew the difference between Israel and Judah.
God promises to one party (israel) but grafted in other party (Gentiles) whom He never promised a thing. So Gentiles not grafted in israel but the same sap through which israel will receive the blessings in future. In other words God grafted gentiles in the promises of which he has done to israel. The popular position on the resurrection is that the New Testament teaches it's a raising of biological bodies at the end of time.
The first correction is that the resurrection is predominantly an old testament subject, and the new testament teaching on the resurrection is based squarely on the old.
The second correction is that the resurrection won't take place at the end of time. The Bible never uses the expression, "the end of time" and the Bible is very specific about when the resurrection took place, at the end of the Mosaic age in AD 70 when Jerusalem and her temple were destroyed.

But the fullness of it is revealed in a pedagogical fashion. Adam didn’t have a full understanding of the mysteries of God’s plan. Adam only knew, “You shall not eat of the tree in the midst of the garden.”
Dispensationalism isn’t a doctrine of a changing God, it’s a doctrine of the pedagogical revelation of God’s plan to redeem mankind through (not in spite of) mankind’s own sinful rebelliousness.
It’s an understanding of the beauty of God’s sovereignty and providence as relates to both His holy (set-apart) nation of Israel, and the gentile world. It’s an understanding of how the Master Author has crafted His plot-line from two seemingly incongruous drama’s as only the Master Author can do.
It’s the story of God saving the gentiles through the rejection of His Son by Israel, and subsequently the salvation of Israel through the witness of church and ultimately by way of God’s judgment on the unbelieving world.

The advocates of modern Dispensational Theology often accuse others of promoting “Replacement Theology”, or some may even say “Antisemitism”. What does the Bible say about their accusations?
1. Who is replacing Christ as the seed of Abraham through which all the families of the Earth would be blessed in Genesis 12:3, with Abraham’s modern descendants? (See Galatians 3:8)
2. Who is replacing the one people of God in John 10:16, with two peoples of God ?
3. Who is replacing the one seed (Christ) in Galatians 3:16, with the many seeds?
4. Who is replacing the children of the promise in Romans 9:8, with the children of the flesh?
5. Who is replacing the faithful “remnant” of Israelites in Romans 11:1-5, with the Baal worshipers?
6. Who is replacing the word "so" in Romans 11:26, with the word "then"?
7. Who is attempting to replace the Church made up of all races of people, with one made up only of Gentiles? Why did Peter address the crowd as “all the house of Israel” in Acts 2:36, when about 3,000 Israelites accepted Christ on the Day of Pentecost?
8. Based on Hebrews 9:15, the New Covenant cannot be separated from the Messiah’s death. Is the covenant in Daniel 9:27 connected to the Messiah’s death in Daniel 9:26. Is the covenant with the “many” in Daniel 9:27 the same covenant with the “many” in Matthew 26:28? If it is, some have replaced the New Covenant in Daniel 9:27 with a future covenant made by an antichrist not found in Daniel chapter 9. (See the 1599 Geneva Bible used by the Pilgrims.)
9. Those promoting the Two Peoples of God doctrine of Dispensational Theology often accuse others of teaching “Replacement Theology”, but are they the masters of it? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?

It was brought to the United States about the time of the Civil War by John Nelson Darby. The doctrine was later incorporated into the notes of the Scofield Reference Bible, and then spread through much of the modern Church.
Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas Texas was created in part to promote John Darby’s Two Peoples of God doctrine of Dispensational Theology.
Lewis Sperry Chafer, the first president of Dallas Theological, had the following to say about the difference between Israel and the Church:

Why did Pater address the crowd on the Day of Pentecost as "men of Judea" and as "men of Israel" and as "all the house of Israel", on the day about 3,000 Israelites accepted the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary? The Gentiles were not grafted in until several years later.
Why did James address his letter to "the twelve tribes", who were his "brethren" in the "faith"? Who was James talking to?
What did Paul say about the "remnant" of faithful Israelites during his time in Romans 11:1-5?
Resurrection:
In a Preterist framework, resurrection was explained using natural resurrection language, but was metaphorical in its application in speaking of the hope of Israel, or the corporate resurrection of the people of God from their dead state, or their lost condition. It includes conversion of the unbeliever to believer (being "raised to life" in Christ) as well as the corporate resurrection of the "body of Christ" which was to include gentiles and Jews into one new body or one new man in Christ.

I view Dispensationalists as brothers but I believe it is an unbiblical understanding and an error.
Rev 21:1 and 2 pet 3:10; love you my non dispensational brother in Christ. I’m dispensational but aware that my theology is not 100% perfect. Faith in Christ alone by grace alone according to scripture alone and all for the glory of God alone, that’s what I know to be 100%. Disspensationalism IS heresy because it’s another gospel. It reads the Bible as Israel- centered instead of Christ centered- it withholds the gospel from those who claim to be Jews, it teaches salvation by works and law is possible. That’s another gospel.

The resurrection which Moses and the prophets taught, all the apostles preached, and Paul taught in 1 Corinthians 15, is about restoration of fellowship with God, not about being raised from biological death. Psalm 116:15, Matthew 8:22, Luke 9:60; 15:24, Colossians 2:13,

As you may know, believers who lived in the Apostolic era believed that Jesus was going to return in their own lifetime. This expectation was in strict accordance with the Lord's own Word:
"Jesus said to His disciples, '...The Son of Man is about to come in the glory of His Father with His angels and will then recompense every man according to his deeds. Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who shall not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.'" (Matt. 16:24,27-28)
But after Jerusalem fell in A.D. 70, and the Second Coming and the destruction of heaven and earth had not happened literally, sub-apostolic teachers then came up with the concept of the "Parousia delay." We see this concept most notably in the Epistle of Barnabas (written shortly after the fall of Jerusalem) and in the Shepherd of Hermas. (c. A.D. 85-140)
In the Epistle of Barnabas, it was taught that because Jerusalem had recently fallen, believers could be sure that Jesus was about to come at any moment. And the Shepherd of Hermas was written to explain why there had been a delay in the Church's original, Apostolic expectation.
The Second Coming of Christ and the fall of Jerusalem were gradually dichotomized in the years that followed A.D. 70. As the centuries rolled on, the two events eventually became unrelated in the mind of most.
The early abandonment of the eschatology of the Apostolic era was not a reflection on the teaching abilities of the Apostles, but it was a reflection on our slowness in comprehending some of the more difficult teachings of the Apostles. (II Peter 3:16) Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna, (c. A.D. 150) was refreshingly humble and honest in this regard:
"For neither am I, nor is any other like unto me, able to follow the wisdom of the blessed and glorious Paul..." (Epistle of Polycarp to the Philippians, 3:2).
Preterism is condemned by many futurists today as a damnable heresy. Yet there is little debate on the following point:
The first century, apostolic Church expected the Parousia to take place within the lifetime of the Apostles.
It necessarily follows from that admission that every doctrine today that teaches that the Parousia of Christ did not take place within the lifetime of the Apostles is a flat denial of the original eschatology of the Church.
Since preterism (the doctrine that the Parousia was to take place within the lifetime of the Apostles) was the original eschatology of the Apostolic Church, we can rest assured that it is infinitely more trustworthy and authoritative than all of the "eschatologies," so called, that were "developed" subsequently.
The original and infallible eschatology that God revealed to the Apostolic Church, and which was believed and taught by the Church from A.D. 30-70, should be believed by us with all of our hearts and minds, that is, if we truly believe that the Apostles and prophets are the foundation of the eternal City of God. (Eph. 2:20; Rev. 21:14)
A momentous work of the modern Church in coming days will be its eschatological reformation, its submission to Apostolic / preterist eschatology. May certain Church leaders today emulate the humility of Polycarp and cease in their virtually unqualified veneration of the Creeds, and at last confess the possibility that the historic Church has erred in its eschatology.
In thus humbling ourselves in the sight of the Lord, we will discover a more biblical worldview, and will bring glory to the Eternal Gospel.

The apostles speculatively believed that Jesus would (Future) come in their lifetime. On the other hand, Preterism says that Jesus did (Past) come in their lifetime. So, Preterism was not their doctrine, it's a later doctrine that says their beliefs came true.
They believed that Jesus would come because he said that he might come then and warned everyone to always be prepared for his appearance. But Jesus also said that he didn't know when he could come, and we know that he hasn't come yet because of a vast number of unfulfilled prophecies, including Jesus’ miraculous appearing.

Covenant theology is a just so fabrication, the "covenants" of redemption/works/grace at least.
Dispensationalism at least doesn't erase national Israel!
I would be a dispensationalist in practice but understand that God's workings in history are a whole from the cross, where the past is fulfilled, to the present and on to the future with the returning Christ Jesus!

What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word.
Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary.
What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below.
New Covenant Whole Gospel:

Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.

When Jesus referred to Himself as "the Son of Man ...Coming with the clouds of heaven," the Jewish leaders understood that, in applying those Old-Testament prophecies to Himself, Jesus was calling Himself God
(Deut. 33:26; Ps. 68:33; 104:3; Dan. 7:13, Mk. 14:61-64; Matt. 26:63-66; Lk. 22:69-71; cf. Jn. 5:18).
When asked if He was the Christ, Jesus told the Sanhedrin,
"I am: and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power,
and coming on the clouds of heaven" (Mark 14:62)
It is this coming that John refers to in Revelation 1:7
"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all the kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen"
The specific mention of those that pierced him (the Romans and Jews) establishes the contemporary-historic context of the prophecies and negates the possibility of their reaching to our time or beyond.
Were we not told that the Holy Spirit would reveal Truth to us? Yes! Having been in these courses such as systematic theology, where we were wickedly taught that we cannot properly understand Scripture without that class, resided many who teach today who would have nothing to say were they not to have attended a cemetery-oops l mean seminary. By the way, Anton LaVey, the high priest and founder of the satanic church said that these seminaries have done much to advance satans kingdom.
