70+ years from now, a restoration video of one of today’s toys will be 3 seconds long consisting of the toy being thrown in the trash because it was made of crap.
the toys of today may be crap...but they are much much safer...i remember a lot of toys from my early 70's childhood...and seeing the toys from my fathers late 40's childhood...safety was not a priority...i think things started getting carried away in the early 90's...when metal parts pretty much became a thing of the past
Very true. Just like the cars of today. Who in 70 yrs. from now will be wanting to restore a 2014 Kia Sorento ?
@@daftboy11 cars of yesteryear...dangerous at any speed
I know next 70 years could be restoring a 2002 honda ody sorry it is my favorite van from all time i hate new and old. I do like some Toyota Sennia.
Just goes to show you can't have it all. You can either have Cool or Safe, not both apparently lol
You converted a homely old toy truck to a real beauty. Terrific!
Really liked the split-screen painting scene and transition. Great restoration!
Glad you liked it! I think I stumbled upon a way to make that part less boring! lol
You do such nice work. Glad you kept the original colors.
Nice you retained the original colors. A true restoration and a very good one at that!
Many thanks!
Some little boy must have loved that truck. Now you brought it back to life.
Thanks for watching!
Man they don't make them like that anymore. It's great that guys like you can save a part of our history. Thanks for what you do.
You got that right!
Absolutely outrageous restoration. I'm as old as that truck and I wish you could restore me like you restored that truck. Believe me I could use an overhaul.
I love the fact you dedicate so much time in the vid to sandblasting. Who doesn't love sandblasting...
This Truck looks like a million bucks now. I dont know where you find these items but I so thankful that you chose to share your passion for restoring the items. I Love the way you are respectful on the loud sounds. Thinking of others gets tou a big 👍 from this Old Granny.
Thanks for watching!
This is absolutely a beautiful restoration! Your choice to use the original colors is certainly appropriate here.
who else cheers when he starts sand blasting:)
I LOVE IT;)
I do, in fact it is one of my favorites scenes in the video.
lol it has become one of the most viewed parts.
I love the classic design of this car.
Yes I love the look of things from that era!
I was pleasantly surprised at how good it still looked under all the old paint.
Beautiful result though! Great video!
Thank you!
An aerodynamic dump truck. Cool design for the 40's.
Love the art deco look they put in to everything back then
You are such an artist! Thank you for your work of preservation and restoration. Also thank you for very much for going to the trouble of sharing all this.
Thank You so much for keeping us distracted. Love your videos even more now. This was a fantastic restoration.
Thank you very much!
Almost no pitting on the metal. Amazing how well preserved the truck was. Another amazing TRG restoration. Keep 'em coming.
Thanks 👍
I fell in love with this truck, beautiful work.
Would love to see you do a Tonka Tanker truck had one when I was a kid eight years old loved it!!
I love watching steel get blued. Thanks for keeping the bluing on there, too!
Thanks! Thanks for watching!
Wow, great job! When I saw the text saying the box was originally blue, I was screaming on the inside that the chassis was red, not orange, and I was so relieved when I saw the finished product. The split-screen during powder coating was REALLY cool!
Thanks! I originally though orange, but there was a tiny spot of the original red left in the seams. The truck must have spent a lot of time in the sun to be that faded out!
An OUTSTANDING restoration job!!... Looks better than it did when it left the Buddy L Factory!!... Keep up the great work Bud!!
Thanks! Will do!
Brought back from the abyss. Great restoration, especially the paint scheme.
Thanks!
Something so simple brought hours of joy to a child. Not today! Great job. 👌🤙👌🤙
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is a dream come true... Congrats, Tim!
I can see what possibly made that toy a popular one. The color combination is spectacular! Very nice restoration. I like it👍
Thank you very much!
Really nice restoration of the old Buddy-L Looks new now.
Thank you!
That was a fantastic restoration on the old 40's truck ! You always make it look so easy ! Love those sandblast kids !!
Keep doing more, please ...
Thanks, will do!
I love the work and presentation of this restorer. and in this case the color scheme of these trucks. every video is fun. 👍🏻
Glad you like them!
Beautiful and professionally done. There are some very lucky children in your life. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much!
I subscribed the minute you pushed the project truck in front of the screen, thanks for the video.
He has a lot of great videos.
Thanks for the sub!
Great Job
Thanks for watching!
I love the singing of the birds in the background as you work on your projects. They give an element of peace and contentment, and it's free natural music. 😊 🎶 🕊
The silver chrome paint is really cool, I didn't know that came in powder coated paint. And of course, I like the 1940s style truck, pretty cool! The wooden wheels surprised me, I thought they were metal or old hard rubber.
I appreciate the brevity but why the veg oil? Love the simplicity of 40's toys. Thanks for another great video. I binge on them when I need to relax!
Beautiful !!
Thank you! Cheers!
When the parts were laid out at 2:41, it reminded me of the models I used to build. Awesome work!
Thanks for watching!!
I was pleasantly surprised to see the condition of the tins after being sandblasted. You did a great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
I've done a couple of restorations on trucks with split hoods and gone to great lengths in bringing them together to get rid of the seam....it looks like your skills just worked a little magic! Very fine work....best wishes, and stay healthy!
Thanks! Thanks for watching!
Good Restoration Done 👌

Thank you! Cheers!
your restorations are wonderful!!! Thanks!!
Glad you like them!
Good job on the lead test! Thanks!
And it still had wooden wheels 👏
Surprisingly a lot of them still do. The wheels were made of oak I believe. Definitely built to last!
Just beautiful. Great job. Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Wonderful Job!
Thank you!
Nicely done, sir. Old toy made store bought new, really nice.
Thanks 👍
Amazing that the truck had a retail price in one of my toy catalogs for $1.29.
That's like $13.00 in 2020 dollars
$29.95 @ all our Target stores.....
Thanks for the info. According to www.inflationcalculator.com $1.29 from 1940 would be worth$26.07 today!
@@TRGRESTORATIONS No problem I have hundreds of vintage toy catalogs in my collection. They are original catalogs not reprints. Been collecting them for over 60yrs.
That was a lot of money to spend on a toy back in the 40s.
Hi TRG 👋👋👋 awesome restoration 👍👍👍💣 I liked the model of this dump truck 👌🏽
Thanks 👍
Отличная работа!👍Камера и видеомонтаж-на высоте!Жду Ваших новых творений!

I giggle like a child every time you pan to the sandblaster and the kids cheer! Because I’m literally cheering in my head as well. 😂
lol Thanks! Everyone's favorite part!
Niiiiiiice double split screen 👍😎👍
Thanks for watching!
Nice Shiny Paint Job!!
Thanks!
As always a piece of art!
Thanks for watching!
I love the shirt and the support for Nashville Tennessee after the tornado
Thanks! They were a little north of me, but had several friends that were affected.
TRG RESTORATION I’m an hour north of the tornado path
i like the split screen powdercoating...and not having to watch the entire in and out of the oven business
I think I stumbled upon a way to make that part less boring lol
Good job
Thanks
Helluva resto!
Thanks for watching!
Ótimo trabalho
Ótimo vídeo
Beautiful Job, TRG! Better than new!
Thank you very much!
Зажал дрель в тиски...чувак я за тебя переживаю)))
LOL, иногда вы должны сделать свои собственные инструменты.
Sweet job!!!!
Great Job @TRG RESTORATION
Dude you deserve a mini lathe. Turning over power tools can do only so much
Maybe one day!
Great job ....museum piece
Thank you very much!
Awesome work as always . Best toy truck to date .
SOOOO KOOOOOOLLLLLLL.
Mike Espo...
Thanks 👍
Always great work !!! + stickers is better 👍😉
Thanks 👍
If you were to say;
"Tim what is your favourite video to date?"
I would say; "This one Tim."
The truck was Beautiful before you started and Amazing when done.
The split screen to show your powder coating was just short of genius.
The only suggestion I have, is to do the same for the oven scenes.🙂
Stay safe.
Wow, thanks!
@@TRGRESTORATIONS
You are welcome.🙂
Wow!!! Beautiful work!
Thank you very much!
What an awesome restoration. I'm blown away at how well the steel held up, given its age. On reforming the axle ends, check out Marty's Matchbox Makeovers, his process is genius.
Will do! His videos are great!
Amazing, well done.
Many thanks!
You are one of the only RUclipsrs I have ever seen that actually has the guard on their bandsaw set low enough.
lol, I've only got 2 thumbs and I want to keep them!
Very nice. 👍
What attention to detail! Just one clarification-did the original also not have a cockpit plastic visor?
nope, no visor
I lake good job,muy bueno 😂
Thanks for watching!
I like this Very Good Work. Your intro is well done as well.. Stay Well..
Thanks, you too!
Simply amazing!!
Thanks a lot!
What a beauty
Thanks!
Another great restoration Tim saving a toy from a bygone era. I was wondering if you believed the wheels were original to the toy. If they were, I was amazed at the remarkable shape they were in. I hope you and yours stay healthy and cheers from Tennessee.👍😷🍻
I'm almost certain the are original. I've seen several from that era with the exact same wheels, and they are all usually intact. I'm not 100% sure but I believe they are oak.
No Amazon link for the skull jar? Nice job on that tailgate.
I'm starting worry I have an on line sandblasting addiction! HAHAHAHA
lol. some addictions just need to be indulged.
Nice one.. 👌🏽
Thanks ✌️
Awesome informative Video
Glad you think so!
The red, yellow, & blue color scheme reminds me of the Benetton B189 Formula 1 car from 1989.
Thanks for the memories TRG. Also can you tell me what you use for the sandblasting.
Eran muy básicos, pero se hacían para que duraran para siempre.
Mataría por uno de esos, los adoro❤️
Thanks for watching!
Belo trabalho.
A decent casting with good bones...
Thanks for watching!
So cool!!
G'day great restoration job and it was great how you made the back flap for it. The only criticism I have is the wheels, they look to small for it are they the original ones for it? Kind regards John
yeah they should have been bigger. must have been the style back then. they were original though, oak I believe.
