And here we have the subclass that finally adds the Luck stat and makes it SPECIAL. That's (S)TRength, (P)erception (WIS), (E)ndurance (CON), (C)HArisma, (I)NTelligence, (A)gility (DEX), and (L)uck for those who do not play Fallout.
This is the MGL Pro League move character. The one that does shit that seems illegal, but is barely allowed at the table. Barely. Buy your DM some snacks next time for better luck. Maybe.
Honestly I feel like this is a perfect example of what homebrew should be. The design is a bit complicated, and probably not something that would ever wind up in a WotC book, but seems balanced and fun and fits an archetypal niche that the game doesn't really support right now
when Lady Luck is smiling you, nothing can truly stop you in the game where the dice dictate the destinies, but while still being enamorated to the trill of the gamble seems to be dangerous the lovers of this class like to make the adventures an exiting adventure. Rolling dices to apeace the gods of destiny for a Tangle the lemur build seems unwise in my eyes, to get the best take of the ring-tail Lemuridae heroine i must trust Tulok, luck is a good thing to have in your side, but quality to disregard the bad posibilities, because there is none, is what i really love from his builds and subclasses he make.
I’ve always wanted a gambler subclass in this game. I think that the ally in the level 3 feature should be able to make a Dexterity Saving throw to at least have a chance of avoiding the damage. That seems like it would cause more problems than it would solve, even with the doubled damage.
It should probably have a set DC, maybe DC 15. Also if that were the case, then barbarians, monks, and rogues would be very good allies for them. All of these classes like having high dexterity, and they either get Evasion or Danger Sense.
I mean, if the ally not getting to dodge it means the enemy doesn't get to, either, that may make it all worth it on its own if you're up against something dodgy.
@@lucasm.3864 I meant high AC/high Dex. Don't have the text of the subclass to know how it works for sure, but was saying if it doesn't require a successful hit to deal the 2 inspiration die damage to the enemy, the 1 die damage to an ally might not be so bad to have a tool for whittling away at them if you're attack roles just aren't cutting it (such as d20s being unlucky that session, or a mage spamming Shield, or whatever).
Friendly reminder that gambling can become an addiction, and to seek help if it becomes hindering to your daily activities and/or real life commitments.
All of these builds have had some really awesome flavor and this one is no exception. I could see one of these bards teaming up with a Bruiser fighter to great effect!
I made a college of misdirection bard homebrew! Basically the reliable talent for sleight of hand, Prof in game kits, and magic playing cards which are the spellcasting focus and main weapon for attacking, melee they deal 1d4 slashing, ranged attack damage is the number on the playing card, but they don't get extra attack until lvl 14, but the gamblers table is depending on the suit you can expend a use of bardic inspiration to imbue the card with magic, Clubs deals extra damage and chance for prone, Diamonds boost AC, Hearts heal someone equal to 2 rolls of bard die, Spades allow the user to make an additional card attack as a bonus action and Joker is a free extra attack and a choice of any of the four other options. More features blah blah but made it for one of my players in a urban fantasy 80's Vegas game.
I'd love to try this out, the risk reward is a great theme. I think the 1 level hexblade dip is a bit better than you think, wouldnt it allow you to use charmisa instead of dex, so you can just have +10 to attack if you have 20 charisma? From having 5 insparation dice and a +5 charisma modifier. Maybe I missed something on the wording. Still great design!
Yes that would be correct. + Proficiency Bonus and Archery if you use crossbow/guns, that makes a total of +18 without even being a magical weapon before any use of bending fate, at level 17. In case you find a Tome of Leadership and Influence to make your Charisma 22, then it becomes +20. If you have a magical weapon that is +3, then it becomes a +23 to hit. I'm not even counting that you can also apply Bless and similar buffs from your party on top of that, even. This subclass is borderline stupid at higher levels.
I really want to play this class in my next campaign I love the risk reward style. Combined with this gunslinger warlock subclass I found I could have a blast playing and rping a wild west sheriff kinda character.
Great video and homebrew as always, but now it means that the next homebrew if the party cleric. I hope Dionysus from HADES shows up, for a long period of time, with the camera zoomed in, in 4k.
I made something similar by multiclassing a college of glamour bard and a knowledge domain cleric of Tamora, the goddess of fate. They use tarot cards to cast cleric spells
also I think you missed a spell opportunity. Bless strikes me as being particularly strong here (and in character). Or you could go full Domino and have both Bless and Bane involved.
This is a great subclass, for all the roguish charmers out there. As an aside, I think you should try to build Willy Wonka. i had this idea for an Alchemist Artificer who wanted to make fizzy beverages. All of his spells and such were him taking ingredients, putting them in a flask, shaking them up and seeing what happens. They would even have lovely names. Fireball? No no, Fizzpop's Spicy Dram!
A dip into fighter would also allow you to pick up the archery fighting style and have more ASIs so the dexterity and charisma can both get some boosts, that’d be a great multiclass
This opens up a lot of options for any kind of suave risk it all types, kinda like Swashbuckler, I wanted to play master gambler lucky bastard, halfling lucky feat, divination wizard, rouge/bard levels capped cha/dex Luckiest Son of aBitch Alive
Hey Turlock, I have some ideas you might like if you wanna check them out. How to make Eddie Riggs from BrütalLegend game How to make Ikaris from the Eternals comics How to make Omniman from the Invincible comics How to make Domino from X FORCE comics How to make Black Canary from DC Comics How to make PolkaDot Man from the Suicide Squad
I had an idea for a cool character concept that led me to a suggestion for Building Character: a warforged artificer whose goal is to upgrade and mod themself to become technological perfection. So yeah, Ultron build please?
I was thinking about if there was a music domain in D&D for the gods, then you could have rock gods with their own clerics. Divine power channeled through instruments, similar to but not exactly like a bard.
This sounds kinda fun, could use it to make a ton of attacks, and with a fighter dip, action surge and make another ton of attacks. Maybe even get some fun with haste up?
LunaLunatic A.K.A Me: "I don't see anyone making videos about Homebrew subclasses. I'll start making videos on my personal Homebrew" Tulok: "Actually... Ima do that." Me: 😭
So… If I understood rigth, the atack attempting fate gets your weapon prof bônus + dex mod + remaining bardic insp dice amount + games set prof - Number roled on bardic dice? Not considering archery and the happy accident.
Looks cool, always had this idea in the back of my head of a Luck cleric, first Dm turned me don so I moved to a new group and the second DM turned me down and then I moved to a Third group, and we're playing pathfinder so this don't help me...yet.
I may not be the man himself, but I've absolutely dabbled in trying to figure out a good Kaladin build (though admittedly I did this before Rhythm of War), and what I've put together is a Cavalier Fighter/Genie Warlock multiclass, pick up Investiture of Wind as a spell and use the Cavalier features to protect your allies and punish anyone who tries to go past you. Probably some polearm mastery/sentinel shenanigans (though Cavalier basically gets those as class features too, so)
As a pessimist I see every single ability here as a full loss. But as a DM who hates when players roll anything between 8 and 14 (the "maybe" numbers) this is set up to create the cruelest of losses or the absolute hypest of victories and would love to see it played
I had trouble following this because it's not in your usual format with text on screen. How am I supposed to ask my DM to let me use it without your usual breakdown?
I so want to sub to the patreon for these awesome subclasses, but I am a poor college student. Are these permanent benefits of the patreon, or do I have a limited time to get the written rules for them?
They're PDFs! So wait until next week when the last one is up, then join up at the $5 tier for one month. Grab all 13 Subclasses and all the character sheets you want from Building Character, then cancel, and keep those PDFs for yourself.
Please do a Steven Universe build 🙏my own build was a glamor bard custom lineage for magic initiate sorcerer but I'd love have the master of 5e/pop culture adaptation show me how it's done
Fun fact: You're wrong about Swords Bard, the Flourish works with any weapon, ergo if you have or can get the proficiency with it you can build Swords with any weapon. This leads to THE definitive run-and-gun build.
do you think "fun fact: you're wrong about" is a nice way to start a comment, regardless of anything else? I'm just wondering. Perhaps you should try to be a little nicer!
I myself am pathologically incapable of taking an unnecessary risk, but a friend of mine would find this subclass extremely appealing.
Anderson Cooper?
And here we have the subclass that finally adds the Luck stat and makes it SPECIAL.

Your homebrews are more tactically interesting and more flavorful than any canon subclass. I adore everything you do. Thanks much!
Halfing with the lucky feat has abandoned the divination wizard for this
Honestly I feel like this is a perfect example of what homebrew should be. The design is a bit complicated, and probably not something that would ever wind up in a WotC book, but seems balanced and fun and fits an archetypal niche that the game doesn't really support right now
Also halfling luck bars with a div wizard dip and lucky feat with one level in hex blade. You won’t fail easily. Grab time stop to get a free reset
By the Gods, this has to go on the "Ever-Luck Halfling" build...
Also, Tulok lookin' like a straight up snack. Nice job, dude!
Are thrown weapons very good? No. Am I going to have a bunch of fun throwing daggers like Gambit throws cards? Absolutely!
i like to use darts instead as they use the bonuses for ranged attacks unlike dagger
@@DaVe2022 Very fair. Only problem for me is they dont have the light property (for some reason) so you cant throw them as a bonus action.
@@austinhaltiner1489 Unless you're flinging lawn darts, your DM should be able to house-rule that for you, no?

The mad lad did it. He made true strike useful.
Probably my favorite thing about homebrew subclasses (from anywhere) is the names that are given to the abilities.
Keep up the banger videos Tulok!

Honestly, this would be busted if you had a Bruiser Fighter in your party.
Something about this subclass makes me think I would absolutely hate any character in my party who chose it.
And it would be so much fun!
Sounds like the perfect subclass for my character when he's converted

This has to be my second favourite of the subclasses for far next to Wire weaver.
I really really wanna make a wire weaver kensei monk, because holy shit it sounds so cool!
This and wireweaver are what I've been trying to play for years
This subclass would give me too much anxiety to play it, but it really catches the flavor!
I want to play this subclass very much. Thank you for creating this :)

I think the compel to Duel Spell would be perfect for this class, asking the enemy to make a wager.

also I think you missed a spell opportunity. Bless strikes me as being particularly strong here (and in character). Or you could go full Domino and have both Bless and Bane involved.
Lando is a Swashbuckler Rogue mixed with Eloquence Bard.
