    I have a 58 plate corsa vxr that I have now owned for over 3 years. Bought on 64k and it’s now on 105k. Engine hasn’t skipped a beat because I’ve looked after it. Gearbox needed new bearings but didn’t break the bank at all and it’s been sweet for 25k miles. I would recommend buying one if you’re going to keep it at stock power level but wouldn’t recommend if not. If you look after the car, it’ll look after you. The people that usually buy these don’t look after them and are young lads with no mechanical sympathy, that’s why they have the rep they do.

      With an i30 N they’re newer so don’t have a history of crashes. Vxrs on the other hand have been round for years with engine problems which people claim on and plenty of crashes which unfortunately puts others insurance up when getting one. I’ve had mine for nearly 3 years now a 2009 pretty much standard and had piston issue had this forged and put to stage 3 and never skipped a beat and had been the most reliable car I’ve had, would track it, take it to Santa pod and yet could drive 10 hours straight no issues at all, currently being built to 330 bhp having the correct work done by machining head, supertech valves, valve guides, valve springs as well as piper cams and K04 turbo, as well as having the gearbox upgraded with bigger bearings and having the brembos put on from the Nurburgring edition 👌 you want it to last do it properly don’t cheap out because then it will fall apart like everyone else’s 👍, track this car a lot and never causes me issues and can daily it with 31 mpg, regular serving (3-5k miles) using good parts and oils will keep it running and make sure it warmed up probably and cooled down 👍

    I love my VXR but I've been driving for over thirty years and know to take it easy with something that kick outs 205BHP through the front wheels. I think for someone who's new to driving yes they're an awesome car but that power difference between your average corsa that your driving instructor probably has and the VXR Nurburgring is night and day. You'd probably struggle to insure one of these anyway as a new driver but if you can and you get your hands on one take the time to get used to the handling of the car as it's probably unlike anything you'll have driven before as a young driver. Drive safe guys, I just love my VXR Nurburgring and wouldn't drive any thing else after owning one.

    Previous owner of a Corsa VXR for 4 years. If you plan on modifying the car YOU SHOULD NOT BUY ONE. They are built incredibly cheap and fall to bits after adding power to them. Had nothing but problems and spend thousands to achieve what most cars do with a stage 1. Would never recommend one to anyone and would say buy a Fiesta ST, which is what I now have and is miles ahead.

    • @MisterVaneo
      @MisterVaneo 4 года назад

      CG yep, very similar scenario to me. Bought mine in 2016 it was 3 years old with 14k miles. Put about 20k on it trouble free then remapped it and it fell to bits. Piston 2 cracked, gearbox, turbo, clutch, loads of sensors, the list goes on. Not worth it one bit.

      George Bresnan hahahaha you think I didn’t spend top dollar? I sunk £13k into my Corsa over 4 years. Forged by Giz Motorsporta very reputable VXR shop, overbored with refurbished head, new valves etc, serviced every 5k with millers fluids, only ever bought parts direct from GM. Was mapped by RnD to 250bhp with a full Milltek exhaust, airtec intercooler, 613cc injectors. Everything bought new. I did everything by the book and bought the best I could get for what I wanted out of the car and it STILL kept biting me in the arse.

    The front end with the grey paint on the grill, the bits either side of the reg and fog surrounds, are not factory. This has been done by an owner. The Burgs and Clubsports (the latter came out after the burg as an end of line vxr before the corsa e came out, is essentially a burg but comes with a remus backbox and a couple of extra interior differences and different colour wheels and mirrors) all come with half leather interior (as per this video), full heated leather is a factory option. I have a clubsport with every option box ticked (incl the heated leather), not a bad motor if driven with respect. I compression test it every 6 months, all is good so far, or have I spoke too soon haha

    I got one for a laugh and so far it's cost me near 2k to keep running but the engine still has 180psi across all cylinders. I work in Germany and I have hit an indicated 142mph. Cars not stock and very well looked after and I think it's a right laugh and looks awesome in green. Don't buy one if you have shallow pockets as they are thirsty. Mines sits between 22-25mpg. Regular services are essential...

    I have had both a standard VXR and the Nürburgring. Both are great cars but the gearboxes were made of chocolate. The Nürburgring I bought from new and was absolutely amazing. My only gripe was that I had loads of issues with it. P4 and gearbox both went in the first 2 years of ownership and in year 3 I had a new Diff and gearbox again and yes I did always warm it up and cool it down, I just drove it how it was meant to be driven. Real shame as they are a blast to drive around in but too problematic for me.

      Fuel is important, it's because some petrol isn't good, you may think you're getting 98 on pump it can be actually 95, they mix em up all time, so you need to use acetone at 3ml per litre, and you never get lean fuel on p4 as highly increases octane to 99.7 Ron, ...

    There is like a £2k difference standard vs Nurburgring/clubsport editions. Saying that I just paid £900 insurance for the year on my corsa vxr running 240bhp with 4 years no claims. Other than piston 4 going which is luck and my clutch going which is wear and tear. The only issues I’ve had during my 2.5 year ownership is a seized calliper and a coolant hose leak which happened literally 2 days ago. £30 fix for that.

    these really are not the ideal car for young drivers … you of all people should know that they are quite expensive to run when used hard , the gearbox is made from chocolate the m32 shit it self box , cylinder number 4 is a very big problem with these granted if looked after , maintained etc then yeah a better chance of less issues but the problem then is you will pay way over the odds of what they are actually worth in the real world insurance costs to the normal people is crazy high because idiots buy these cars then batter and crash them because they cant drive or think they know everything about the roads , more to the point a more realistic car for a fairly young driver i would say if your after a petrol turbo car maybe a fiesta st there semi good on fuel when not used heavy easy 40 mpg , when under load they still return high 20 mid 30 s , which isn't to bad really , they are defiantly a lot more reliable than those Corsa vxr's don't get me wrong the fiesta st has its problems like all cars but not as many as those crappy Corsa's also an option for a eco boost 1.0 or i think its a 1.5 in some of the focus models they are ok to a few issues when high mileage and more prone to failure but still even those are more reliable than a vxr. if you as and giv4k me any young driver should hop into quite a slow and steady car to start with as people think they can jump into A turbo car fwd. or awd and be king of the b roads until they end up face first in a tree and put everyone else's premiums up such a unrealistic guy when you speak about first cars and whats cheap to run and insure to you compared to the normal folk out there not everyone has a RUclips channel and crappy apparel that people will follow and buy lol. if you ask me your a bit of a snob. a lot better reviewer's out there

Even on the day the seller was coming to pick up the car it was starting, the starter motor wasn't engaging the engine. Luckily dad fixed that so the new owner was happy
