huge probs to the owner for being such a chill guy and having done some really remarkable work with the modifications! these kind of cars are so much fun
You've had the privilege of driving some of the most capable cars out there. I don't think I've ever seen you with a continuous smile on your face the way you did in this video. That was fantastic!
The Owner is so chill and truly enjoying the ride in his lil Frankenstein Caddy! Brilliant! With the proper diff, possibly independent rear and other suspension mods, and that thing is REALLY gonna surprise some folks! Gotta LOVE a sleeper!
I've driven a caddy from the same generation for around 270.000 km in the last 4 years, this video made me smile :D and yes, the handling and rear axle annoy me to no end
Honestly this was one of my favorite laps to watch just because of the challenge and insanity of driving something so crazy. Also, the "one wheel peel", although not helping performance, certainly adds to the fun drama factor!
😂 😂 That was as mad as a box of ferrets.... The other drivers didn't have a clue what was going on 😂 I think Sabine would have loved it, like the transit van ❤
i didn't touch the lights. That's the Emergency Brake warning. New Cars have that. Can't be programmed off sadly. Btw i knew what was happening from leaving Devils Diner. Did you guys see his Numberplate?
Fun that "everything" is bolt-on on the PQ35 platform. Engine mounts and all can come straight out of any of the cars and into another, as long as the engine has enough room. So the engine and gearbox from an S3 fits perfectly in the Caddy 🤩
Yep, real modifications starts when u want to replace rear axle and leaf springs to multilink suspension. All others are just bolt on stuff. However nice sleeper 👍🏻
This is a very nice van, get an oil cooler, doesn't have to be super big because it can cause a haste for daily driving but would benefit. Not dangerous yet but a small bit high nevertheless. Lovely lovely van tho, it's really cool to see these outside the box builds😊😊
I haven't been this jealous of a car we don't get in the US for a long time. I love how it's much shorter than other cargo type vans and how the front end still looks like a VW car.
@@Random-nf7qb I just looked it up and it’s cool it has IRS but it doesn’t have that cargo van look, it’s more mini van. It would still be awesome setup for track use with big power but I really like the look of this short cargo looking van.
@@Random-nf7qb thanks, it was cool to look at all of them and they are more similar than different, mostly just seems like length difference and how finished the exterior is. I think my favorite is the version like on this video with the nicer exterior/painted bumpers, no back side glass, and no sliding doors. They look so cool lowered and on nice wheels, but with sticky tires, 500 hp, and dsg transmission it’s on another level of bad a**.
I think such cars are even more fun or at least as fun as a proper sports car,the looks you get because no one expects it are above anything else,it must be hella fun to own a sleeper like this
Loving this channel Misha! Only been a subscriber for a couple of months but always makes me smile when I see some of the VTech stuff and out of the ordinary stuff like this van!! Keep up the good work and be safe!!! 👍🏻
There was literally a VW Caddy touringcar which competed in the VW R Cup Series for many years here in the UK, and it spanked many races, and many Golfs n Sciroccos...
The Caddy is a fun car to drive! I had a 2005 with the 2 liter SDI non-turbocharged diesel with 70hp as a company car. And it was really good between 1700 and 1730rpm. 😂😂 I overtook several BMW 3er "racers" on my local winding road, and they couldn't believe their eyes when I passed them. 😎
This series needs definitely further cams..in all other cars..to see reactions and how the car itself appears passing by 😂 and at least one fixed at a high speed section
I just love following you! Bcs you drive everything and gives me so much inspiration for when im in my simrig doing assetto corsa. Since i got almost 4000 cars i always seems to find a car very close to what you are driving. Makes it so much fun. My biggest dream is to once go to the nordschleife. I got over 20000km done there in the sim, but never in real life. Its fair to say, im addicted to drive this track/road :D
I generally hate modded Caddies on the road, stupidly lowered with tiny wheels and BBQ exhausts on a 1.4 etc, but hats off to this, it’s absolutely … a w e s o m e … would be a privilege to be overtaken by this.
Yeah same, either Stateside Super Cars or Autoaddiction. Only a few days ago I saw it and I was thinking "that thing is faster than your average Caddy, that would be cool to see on here" then I woke up this morning and here it is!
In the US, people use "caddy" as a nickname for Cadillac. Watched the whole video assuming all of the references to "caddy" were suggesting that this Volkswagen had a Cadillac engine or something. Finally googled it and now I understand what I got wrong 😅😅
Now that's a proper sleeper car! All you need is fake "ABC Plumbers" or "Rapid Pizza" ads on the sides and rear to really blow minds. If that was my car, I would glue "TDI" badge at the rear to make it even more hilarious.
Didn't really leave the yaris at all. It was at least matching our speed and then gaining on us fairly easily. It went past any way in the end the van had nothing in the corners. The guy has better driving skills than most people on the track
What an awesome vid! I feel the same way with my mk6 ko4 build with open diff, its a pain to deal with but it still puts a smile on your face and that's all that matters!!!
This should stay very good in the corners. The longer version I think it handles better. The wheels would need about 2 centimeters further out and the roof should be easy if you take the carpet or the plastic down, at least in the back.

okay i just found this channel a couple of weeks ago.. and of the 30 or so ive watched so far.. this has been the best for some reason.. smiled the whole time lol
I love sleepers like this. Long time ago I had a Opel Kadett Combo with a 2L GSi engine tuned to 140 bhp. It was of course not a fast car, but people expected it to have the standard 1.3L 65 bhp engine. The surprise factor was great fun. Even took it to Germany a couple of times to pick up some parts. Despite the awful aerodynamics, it could still do 208 kph on the speedo. Fast enough to cause some confused faces :)
I set the cruise control at 170kmh on my Caddy when working in Germany but anything over that the aerodynamics felt weird but it pulled nicely with it’s 90 horses. It was a dieselgate generation VW and the fuel consumption was 16 litres, so I had to fill up three times as often. Small timegains and my average speed was higher in Sweden (legal) because of pretty much empty roads allways.
I got overtaken by a tricked up Caddy TDI about 7 years ago, my first time around the ring. Went round me like i was in reverse and showered me in a huge cloud of black smoke! 😂
The fun and sketchy thing about small vans is you can modify the front half easily with parts from the same platform to make a hot hatch, but the rear end still remains stuck in the Victorian era. I have a modified Vauxhall Combo B van with the same bad behaviour!
THE SPEEDO IS IN MILES PER HOUR! :)
Also, check out our new collection! petrolheart.com/pages/signature
Do you have a web page with a list of all the cars you have driven on the Nordschleife so far? This would be awesome!
same day delivery van ? :)
It might be MPH, but the speed your showing through the corners seems slower than what the speedo is saying? 🤔
Haha the wheel spin must have aggressive. The speedo was climbing just as quickly as the taco. Looked like you had fun!
Like riding a wild, not mustang, donkey! ;-)
4:40 never thought I'd be overtaken by a Caddy on the nordschleife🤣
XD
At that point, did you ever feel like you had to throw your car away in the bin?! 😂 Lovely car btw!
then seize the moment and hang in the slipstream behind the caddy 😄

This is so fucking cool!!! If you do do the rear axle work, just go the whole hog and 4 motion swap it, would be mega!!!

It's a Golf after all, should be possible...
Just get rid of the leaf springs and weld on cups for coil springs, then mount a strong anti-roll bar and it will be fine.
