Honest Trailers Commentary - Ant-Man and The Wasp
Before Captain Marvel comes out, you could do a Honest Trailer for 'Tag', asking the question "where was Hawkeye during Infinity War?"
Emma Lavinia What’s Tag?
@@sanjayraju988 A movie Jeremy Renner was in earlier this year.
This is so awesome.. totally on board
Sanjay Raju It was a great comedy.
@@matthewmspace it really was, and I wasn't expecting much from it
That John Wick line has me cracking up still! “You guys are so screwed now!”
Thanos killed John Wicks dog when he killed half. This was his last mistake.
@@aeis3007 yep. Thanos is cool and all but John Wick would kill his ass any day of the week.
He once killed a Titan with a pencil!
Ant man and the wasp is charming. Did i have fun, yes. Was Paul Rudd Paul Rudd, yes. Did they do cool things with shrinking and growing, yep. Got what i came for. Is Janet at the end basically a actually deux machina, yea kinda. Is sonny Burch unnecessary, yea. But I had fun.
“I don’t get out of bed for anything less than a celestial” so, it’s a No for me. Lol.
I will say it was a totally inoffensive film. It doesn’t do anything outside of the “Marvel blueprint for winning” So much so, that we ignore everything that doesn’t make sense.
Truly sums up most peoples feelings towards this film, Enjoyable
Sam Karanja same and I think its fine to have some big and some small movies
I wish I had enjoyed it more. My problem was that the jokes didn't land for me. It was an hour and a half of me just sitting pained while an ant played drums and characters made corny dad jokes. I actually loved the stuff about going into the quantum world and meeting Ms. Pym and finding out she's this Mad Max adventurer in this crazy subatomic world where whe's presumably been adventuring and hunting and killing things to eat for thirty years. I want to have whole movies set there. I thought that was the best part of the movie. That and the water bears...because WATER BEARS!
Corny Dad jokes are awesome.
I may be biased.
Dan just gave away the end of Avengers 4, Thanos gets killed by a giant cow. Fans will complain that it's a cow not a bull, a Mary Moo.
Then they solve world hunger by making a Gary stew...
Also known as a Dairy Sue
You guys should really do a "Dan Impression Super Cut" ... for Christmas :) He is really good!
It’s Halloween next week. The “yeah baby” was in reference to the fact that Austin Powers is played by Michael Myers and Michael Myers is also the name of the baddie in Halloween.
That makes so much more sense than what I thought, which was that there was somehow a Pumpkin Spice-related Austin Powers film I was unaware of? :P
Please do Agent Carter Trailer before Captain Marvel.
Honestly, Ant-Man & The Wasp is one of the most enjoyable movies in the entire MCU.
A huge part of that is because it's NOT connected to all the big ominous stuff, and it's allowed to just be an ultra-fun superhero version of Honey, I Shrunk The Kids.
Is it one of the BEST MCU movies? No.
But that's why best and enjoyable are different things.
Felt really shallow to me. Had fun watching it but I'll never see it again.
It was the epitome of following
“Marvel’s guide to winning” it just doesn’t take any risks at all, in its storytelling, characters, or villain.
I still Like it, but it is just a filler movie, until the next infinity war/Capt.Marvel continues the larger story.
@Phillip so, what you're saying is that you like this movie because it's smaller scale?
I actually liked it more than most Marvel movies, simply because it was so "small" in scale and not connected. It felt like a Breather and I found that extremly charming
It was nice.
Omg those Michael Douglas impressions :'D
Hank Pym is definitely wrong about Pym Particles. He’s been shown to not like being wrong, or working with others, so it fits. If he was right:
- Ant-Man floats away as soon as he over-enlarges in the AirPort fight scene(he has less density than air)
- he couldn’t possibly move his multi-story building, like it was made of legos.
The comic explanation works better.
99.9% of his mass, is transferred to another dimension, when he shrinks; and he pulls mass(atoms) from that dimension to over-enlarge.
It makes everything basically work from a (simplified)scientific perspective, and lets you use it for food production. Just not meat based food, unless you want to deal with, dumpster-sized parasites, and garbage can sized viruses/bacteria.
Shrinking is the most scientificly unrealistic superpower of all. You either have to change molecular distances, which screws up all the molecular interactions, or you have matter disappearing, which is against the conservation of matter/energy, and also makes complex systems unshrinkable. You can't just take out parts of DNA, it won't work.
@@kingofurukgilgamesh7828 Really? with all the superpowers out there, shrinking is where you draw the line?
Nathan Carrille
Yes. Super strength, extreme durability, extreme energy density, super speed, mind reading, regeneration, electricity, shooting beams, and forcefields are theoretically easy. We just need a few more decades of engineering. Time travel, over light-speed travel, interdimensional stuff and phasing might become possible one day. Shrinking is unrealistic. Also material changing, like Colossus and Sand-man. I have a problem with those.
I've always assumed from the movies that the Pym Particle emulates the activity of the Higgs Boson which assigns the proper mass to their atoms, scaling it up or down as the object shrinks. The exploding sheep are what happens if you don't get that calibrated right. Nobody ever says Higgs Boson, but when they talk about quantum particles that's where my mind goes.
I just figured Hank only gave a very partial explanation of how they work.
@1:10 the poor boys are still recovering from their Doctor Who hangover!
I think you have Post Doctor Traumatic Stress
If you guys are still out of ideas for when Captain Marvel comes out you could always do one of the TV shows, like the rest of Agents of SHIELD, or the terrible Inhumans. You could even do the Defenders Netflix shows, but I know you're probably sick of TV after Dr. Who...
I enjoyed Ant-Man and the Wasp more than most of the MCU movies, because I got so tired of the "Save the planet from boring bad guy" plot and it was nice to have smaller stakes for the planet, but very important for all of the characters involved.
Avengers IV: The Aneurysm of Thanos
Clearly you should do the Hasselhoff Nick Fury movie before Captain Marvel
I'll do you one better, WHY is Baskin Robbins?
Ugh! What is this a reference to??? I can't remember!!! Heeeeelp.
drax from gaurdians vol, 2
*Infinity War (also Ant-Man)
I've seen justified, goggins is great in that
*I love the Batman cape hiding the fact that your drinking Diet Coke*
I'm Batcan!
Beaten to it by an hour! Arrrgh.
Azazyel *How did I not think of that. Nananananananananana BAT-CAN*
This.
Only reason I was even going to comment.
My Google-Fu is lacking today, so sadly...I can't find Can Capes anywhere.
Inquiring minds wanna know!
Seriously guys great video. Love watching you guys!,!,
9:45_Soooo then Ultron was right, LOL. The part where you guys were mentioning how science can do anything and it will make sense simply by putting the word quantum in front of everything, but I would've mentioned how that didn't save or if only that could've saved the Casino Royale sequel "Quantum of Solace".
nitpick - hank pym says he changes the distance between atoms (iirc) which means he isn't making more matter by enlarging things therefore couldn't use it for food production...
unfallen_bulbitian Hank Pym is an idiot, who never liked being wrong. We know through science that if he was right.
-Ant-Man would have floated away in that Airport fight, as soon as he went big.
- he couldn’t have moved his multi-story building around like he did, in this movie.
The comic explanation works better. When he shrinks, 99.9% of his mass goes into another dimension. When he over-enlarges, he grabs mass(atoms) from that dimension.
It would be he only way to make the movies work as well.
So, you could use it in food production, but just not with meat. Unless you want to create dumpster sized parasites/bacteria/viruses.
You make everyone eat soy-based foods, that have been neutron bombarded before enlarging, and has been GM’ed to have different tastes.
Like they are doing now with Algae. It’s getting genes from a type of seaweed, that tastes like bacon, when it’s fried in cooking oil.
You could raise a herd of cows in a field the size of a doormat, or ship a million tons of grain in a suitcase. It certainly wouldn't _hurt_ food production and distribution.
If we're trying to science it then changing the distance wouldn't alter the weight so they couldn't carry buildings and all that. Not to mention that going subatomic is impossible for obvious reasons. My point is they're not paying attention to the science, so you probably shouldn't either.
@@cjwrench07 et al yeah i figured it was a bit of a dumb nitpick trying to logic comic book science - all replies have valid points. I do think Ant-Man was less dense in the Airport fight though, he moved like a giant balloon...
Walter Goggins character should’ve gotten off the phone with Justin Hammer
21:44: GrANT Hart, Brendan CANTy, BrAN(d)T Sandeno.
KEEP GOING
Oh Dan never change
I totally missed that. Civilization/City in the Quantum realm. I was so fascinated with the *Water Bears*
Now Bug can be in Guardians 3
Disappointed you guys didn't go with "Pym's Labyrinth" but still a great HT
Can you please do a play list for all the MCU movies in real time order so we can watch them all? Also you need to do an honest trailer for then entire MCU once Avengers 4 is done.
A+++ for that Archer joke
Loving Dan's Bat-can
The pitter-patter of marvel fans comments 😂
Do the later seasons of Agents of Shield before Captain Marvel, or the Netflix shows. You have a few months
I would like to see a Netflix MCU Honest Trailer as well
I swear Dan look ever more delicious with every show.
I haven’t watched the movie yet but you know I can’t resist an honest trailer commentary
Maybe for Captain Marvel you can do an Honest Trailer for the MCU
Burentsu 'Black Panther' was a little bit of that anyway.
Or Elektra, at least we remind how suck the movie is before MCU exists
The quantum realm could have been the challenge they had to face. It's a completely alien place that they could have filled with wonders and terrors. They could have all teamed up and battled weird creatures and navigated through hazards to get to Janet in the quantum realm.
That "Yea baby" kills me everytime ! I replayed it like 10 times !! Dan , keep up the good work !! 😂😂😂
My understanding is the chemical properties of the food does not change. A 100 calorie peanut enlarged to the size of a house is a giant 100 calorie peanut.
That's one weird can, Dan.
When the Captain Marvel movie comes since it’s also releasing close to the Shazam movie you guys should honest trailer the really old Shazam TV show
On the Quantum Lampshade Thing:
I've always assumed from the movies that the Pym Particle emulates the activity of the Higgs Boson, the quantum particle which assigns the proper mass to atoms, scaling it up or down as the object shrinks or expands. The exploding sheep are what happens if you don't get that calibrated right. That's how he can enlarge without floating away.
Nobody says Higgs Boson ever, but when they talk about quantum particles that's where my mind goes.
Coming from 2024 to say it took some time, but Goggins has finally been used to his full potential, and it was glorious
Don't forget guys, they lampshaded the whole wearing hats thing too. Paul Rudd says something like, "We just look like us going to a baseball game!"
Has Spenny G been working out? Cuz those guns look loaded.
That man is all tanned up and my kinda pretty ❤❤❤
8:35 I don't know, Dan. Your mother isn't exactly a global threat.
Even though I'm in the UK & have never seen KTLA as soon as you started talking about it I knew it thanks to watching Nightcrawler. 'If it bleeds it leads'. They called it KWLA so not an obvious reference at all.
I'm just here to listen to Dan say "Yeah baby" ;-)
I would argue that Ant-Man and The Wasp is only movie this year that did use Goggins properly this year, he was completely wasted in Tomb Raider but he was sleazy and hilarious here. Of course, Justified and/or Vice Principals are the ultimate Goggins showcases.
19:41 I remember they made a joke about this in the honest trailer of winter soldier.
Dans hand gestures shoulda been the thumbnail lol,, great commentary dude :D
Subtext? That's the TEXT in Age of Ultron. That's literally what Ultron says to the Avengers in his first scene. "How is humanity saved if it's not allowed to…evolve?"
You guys did touch on something that I've noticed too. You shouldn't think too hard about Marvel movies or they start to fall apart. And no, not because of a talking raccoon. And no, having a talking raccoon does not mean it's impossible to make a movie you can enjoy if only you don't think too hard about it.
I thought the movie was absolutely delightful.
I loved Dan's clever hint at the end.
Nobody talks about that time in Agents of Shield when Mack tried to lift a building that was shrunk with pym particles but it was still the weight of a real building... :/
Food plants don't work that way. With the increased carbon in the atmosphere, plants have become larger but not more nutritious. The nutrients are essentially being diluted.
Spencer's comment about the MCU keeping the status quo in the world is very interesting to me, please make a video that dive into it a little more
You guys should do an Honest Trailer for the Cornetto-Trilogy by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World‘s End)!
I look forward to these more than the actual Honest Trailers each week.
Those Michael Douglas impressions killed me😂 scccaaaaaat
You could do an honest tv trailer of Avatar: The Last Airbender
How have you not done the original atla yet?
Yes
Whats in Dan's Bat can ?
Love good Simpson's references! 👏
They should totally do Howard the Duck for Infinity War 2/Avengers 4 next year. The first Marvel movie, I think!
Babayaga is a Witch. Baba stands for grandma and tags is her name
I never understood why the filmmakers thought it meant boogeyman
On Walton Goggins / Sonny Burch: " He's the guy with an Escalade and a dream..." 😂😂😂
Spencer got it so right, I laughed out loud and woke up my roommate 😅 got pillow-slapped but was worth it.👏
I love that line, "an Escalade and a dream"
Jo you killed me with the hand gestures 😂
Mate! I love gagaens' character!
oh my god EVERY time he said ‘babayaga’ i was like JOHN WICK…
and no one knew what i was on about :(
Hannah John-Kamen is an extraordinary actress who had a very good year. Ready Player One, Tomb Raider, and Ant-Man and the Wasp. AND YET! She had not received any major press or recognition. Is she bad at picking roles? Is she just constantly overshadowed by others?? I don’t know. But I really want her to be the A-list actress she deserves to be.
You guys are consistently funny. Great trailer.
It would be really cool if someone put a RUclips playlist of honest trailers in the order they were released!
Before Captain Marvel, you should do 1988's The Incredible Hulk Returns
Seriously, the only good thing about Tuesday is a new honest trailer and a new honest trailers commentary.
You can do a TV trailer on The Defenders before Avengers 4.
Any gigantic leaps in technology that can change the course of human history will inevitably be used for any or all of the following.
A) Weapons
B) Pornography
Hank didn't want the government to weaponize his tech. Yes, he built the suits, which could technically count as weapons, but they are in his hands. If the government had his tech, they would have entire teams of covert ops Ant Men doing black ops missions all over the world. That's part of the plot of the first movie.
The accident that led to Ghost's creation could have been studied to advance the world while curring Ghost of her ailment. Instead, the government turned her into an assassin. This is why he doesn't share the tech with the world.
It is also why Tony doesn't share the knowledge of the Arc reactor tech (how to make it smaller and still as powerful) to the rest of the world. The governments of the world would just turn it into a bomb.
Other than that part(s) of the video, I enjoyed this video.
Just realized Joe Starr Vaguely looks like Nick Kroll's Adoptive Brother
Can someone explain the timeline of why antman wasn't in inifinity wars? Was Scott under house arrest while the aliens came to earth? Or did infinity ward happened between him recovering the lab and then losing the Pym family? Then he could've been in infinity wars. Can someone explain ?
Largely inoffensive but enjoyable action. Solid 8 out of 10 movie
Do Big Trouble in Little China please dudes
And may the wings of liberty never lose a feather!
Yay
So about the food thing. Yeh, that wouldn't work because the technology shrinks or increases the size of atoms. So our bodies wouldn't be able to breakdown and absorb the food we eat.
Making something big doesn't add more particles, so nope, super big cow doesn't work. And while he could simplify some supply chain things (thanks to mass going away even though they say it doesn't in the first movie), if we really wanted to transport food where it was needed, we could already do that, if we wanted to, but we don't like the economic implications of that. So nope, world hunger isn't something he can fix. He could make a big difference in global warming, though... you could pack a lot more on a single ship or truck, cutting a lot of emissions.
You can add Spidey to the list of the super-heroes who could improve things... his webbing would be a huge boost to a lot of emergency services, but nope, he uses it to swing around a city.
They weren't technically lampshading because in real life people do put 'quantum' in front of a lot of things. And they didn't use it to explain any part of the plot.
Austin Powers? Oh because Mikes Myers...got it.
The quantum realm itself could have been the “antagonist”. I think that’s where these guys were trying to get to with that. The whole ghost, Goliath, Goggins subplots were unneeded.
Would a food product's calorie count change with it's size? If you grew a cow to massive scale, would a normal-sized piece of meat have the same nutritional value as a regular steak? Or would it be one fraction of the substance?
John wick isn't the boogieman, he's the man you send to kill the fucking boogieman.
God damn you, Screen Junkies! Now I have to rent things On Demand and spend more for less quality than Redbox so I don't have to wait for Honest Trailers! I anticipate your work more than modern film-makers, resentfully.
24:04 - the Austin Powers refence! :D
You have got to do a spoof of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Rant-Man and the Buzz Harsher!
Doesn't Pym's technology only alter the relative distance between atoms (or something like that). That would mean that enlarging food wouldn't make it more nutritious or anything. It would just include more empty space...
While it would help with logistics I can understand how releasing potentially dangerous technology into the world just to help with shipping might not be the best call.
I know its a bit futile commenting this under a year old video, but I just needed to get this off my chest.
Still love you guys though...
You guys didn't put the extra scene ?
It just occurred to me, Hank Pym is Dr. Briefs from Dragon Ball.
John Wick shall kill Thanos.
You should do an Honest Trailer for the Billy Jack movies
5:36 Hand gestures and older dudes.
Updated Honest Trailer for Agents of Shield before Infinity War Part 2
You guys always have the Marvel Netflix shows and the other seasons of Agents of SHIELD!!!
I'm glad I appreciate that I "have to watch multiple comic book movies to get them"
You know we are spoiled when we complain about something that comic book fans would have killed for decades ago.
Awww...poor babies...you have to watch all these comic book movies in order to follow this grand overarching story arc! What a burden! It's like....10 whole movies!! Oh my god...how will we ever bear it?
Jesus....we turned into whiners in a hurry. This is the greatest thing ever and we are complaining about it and longing for the "good old days"???
The freaking "good old days" were when there were almost no CB movies and the thought of things like Thor, Iron Man, Ant-Man, and Dr Strange onscreen was just a fondest hope.
No thanks...the "good old days" sucked azz. This is the golden age of CB movies.
Preach. We don't know how good we have it sometimes
