  • The Art Museum at the University of Toronto commissioned Cree artist Kent Monkman’ exhibition which includes his own works set in dialogue with historical artefacts and art works borrowed from museum and private collections from across the country.
As both artist and curator, Monkman’s first major solo-exhibition includes his own paintings, drawings and sculptural works, in dialogue with historical artefacts and art works borrowed from museum and private collections from across the country. The exhibition narrates a story of Canada through the lens of First Nations’ resilience.
“Shame and Prejudice: A Story of Resilience” will be on display from Jan. 26-March 4, kicking off a cross-Canada tour for 2017.

Powerful art by a tremendous artist. Good to know this show will be touring Vancouver in 2020.

Great job Kent. 20 years ago when we met I knew and told you you’d be successful with your artistic talent and I was correct. Best wishes :).

Critical view is great. Please see your art in ROM in March break where little kids are visitors. What paint are appropriate for the little ones to see I wish there were a visual sign saying that paints have sensitive images so I can choose if I want to enter to see or not.
