So glad *Raina* got to helm the remasters! Having followed her content for a long time, I'm very happy for her! As a fellow dev who's got the chance to work on the remaster of a beloved game, I can only imagine her happiness and pride! *Félicitations !* 👏
@@mortvia Edit: Started the video. Okay nevermind. Thought it was something revealed to be in the games. Who is "Raina?" I've played Soul Reaver 1 and 2 a bunch of times. And all the others at least once.
Ok, so Raina Audron is one of the more prominent figures of the Legacy of Kain fan community. She founded the Ancients Den, an equally prominent LOK fansite and developed a full fledged Soul Reaver texture remaster about two years ago. As stated in the video, she was just revealed to be the director of the official SR remasters. The reason many of us are happy for this, is because this is basically a dedicated journey come full circle (pun intended). Something this industry needs ALOT more of. I hope that info helps!
I second that - for the first time in a long while when it comes to remakes of past games, my confidence is at a high. What better director of a remake than a devoted fan of the originals themselves.
All we know the games will go in the right direction, but now I'm waiting to see if the team had enough time and staff to finish and polish it from bugs. To which, I'll note that the trailers had some questionable artistic designs for bosses even *slightly over a month from release*, so that's a bad sign and shows it's barely making the release date. Even if they fixed the bosses art, it is a bad sign. So, I'll wait and see, but I guess any problems will be patched after release.
I don't. Fans are fans. This is lazy corporate bullshit. Passing the work/buck off onto fans. You're just blinded by your love of an old game. Stop treating this shit like a new LOK. This does not mean there is going to be a new one.
@@caseystrange Better a fan than a corporate stooge; I can't find many remakes in the last ten years that didn't disappoint me. It may not be a new game, but it's coming across as true to it's old material as its a graphical update and intruding on not much else.
Wow, guys. Just like I said before: We owe the continuation of this community to you. Even more, now. Congrats, Raina! Thank you both so much keeping the community engaged! I hope this is a dream come true for you both!

Gosh, thank you Bazielim and Raina for everything! You really are the OGs of the community! I'm quite emotional that this is actually happening, since the LOK community has always been so welcoming and passionate. One could argue it has been my safe geek place for all these years. Now that I think about it, the moment I knew I would be a diehard fan of this series was when I won one of Nosgoth's beta early access keys that The Ancient's Den was giving away, after answering three questions, if I recall correctly. I was so happy when I won! Back then, I didn’t even have a camera to take a picture of the ruined city’s unique spear (the beta version), so I had to pause my PlayStation 1 and run to a friend’s house to borrow his low-res brick of a cellphone to snap the picture, haha (i was in highschool back then). Things like these are what keep the community alive. Thank you both!
Congratulations Raina!!! This remaster is on the best hands. I knew the video showcasing deleted areas around 1 year ago has something to do with this... My hopes for playing a TRUE version of the og Soul Reaver concept is possible. I'm quite sure you and the whole team had enough time for work on Lost Levels. I been here nearly 10 years and i can only say: thank you for your effort, more than never. My birthday is on 9th december and this is a gift so special... My favorite game of all time is back. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
That's great news! I had my suspicions to be honest, but it's great to know Raina is indeed majorly involved in the Remasters. Congrats on the achievement!
Yes...the game is in safe hands because of some attention seeking fan. Not like it's best safe in the hands of....i don't know...the original writers, directors, artists?
Can't wait. I really hope the younger generations buy LoK:SR to enjoy the narrative, the journey and appreciate one of the greatest ensemble casts of voice acting digitally captured. Nosgoth awaits, again.
When you said this is such an incredible time to be a Legacy of Kain fan -- you weren't lying, Baz. It must be so gratifying to be able to finally reveal Raina's role in the remaster. The series couldn't be in better hands. Much love to both of you.
Super excited for this release! It looks beautiful so far and I can't wait for this to release. Thank you for your love and dedication to this fantastic series!
Super glad Raina is getting the respect she deserves! ^_^ She's played a huge part of keeping the community alive, (As have you, Baz! So those plushies better behave! (Figures too!) And yes, pre ordered it the minute I heard about it. And will be playing it, no doubt uploading a video of my gameplay to go along with a glowing steam review. Been waiting a great many eons for this, ever since I was way too young to be playing the games on PS1. It's been a looooooong time coming!
I really hope they add some of the cut content as optional areas, the Undercity and the Priestess can be easily added without having to change the outcome of the story, the smokestack as well, they could either have Turrel run before gets defeated or simple put a Turreling Guardian in his stead at the end of the level.
It's very cool when a longtime fan of a franchise ends up working on a project in that franchise. I'm sure most of us have fantasized about it lol. I've only recently subscribed but I've followed this channel for a long time (it really surprised me when I realized I wasn't subscribed) and I have to say, while none of us know what the future holds, if Raina ends up directing other LOK projects in the future, I'm confident the series is in good hands. Congratulations on the opportunity/ experience regardless.
Hiring Raina is such an amazing idea, that it never even crossed my mind that any company (soulless as they usually are) would make it! Congrats, and thank you for taking care of our beloved franchise ❤
Thank you Raina for finally making it happen, I had never gave up hope for remasters of Soul Reaver 1 and 2, And I hope once it launches people would have them in their hands too digital and physical 😀
I'm so excited to get my hands on these remasters, and i'm very happy to hear that Raina is directing them! I have high hopes for the franchise going forward, Vae Victus everyone!
I'm happy for her. I remember years ago when she and some fans released that 2D fangame that bridged the gap between Defiance and the beginning of Blood Omen 2.
This series has some of the best writing in all of gaming, and I'm so excited newcomers to the series get to experience it. Congrats Raina, and with Amy Hennig's blessing to boot. I can't WAIT to play these remasters.

YES! Now THIS is news I was hoping for - Raina without a doubt has been the authority on the series ever since Hennig decided to bow out and the follow up to Defiance was scrapped. Personally I'm not a fan of digital games since we don't actually own them when we buy them. But I did pre-order the Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remaster digitally in the first week to help show my support for how much I've been after them. It's actually the first games that I've ever pre-ordered.
You do not own physical games either since it is still a license of the game, if you are interested in a digital version that is just like having the disc, the game is also available on GOG.
@@xelefdev You can trade & sell the disc. How is that not ownership? You don't own the ip but you do own the disc. You're not renting the physical object, it's yours. The problem with physical is that the disc will eventually stop spinning or working. With digital you can simply download a new copy.

@@HereticHydra Read the eula, you'll realise that it is a license on a disc. A GOG version works the same as the Disc version in the sense that you, the customer are in power as opposed to the publisher. The only difference is that instead of being able to trade your license you can redownload a copy whenever you wish if you lose one, as long as GOG exists. A big part of the reason many publishes go digital only is because the second hand market wasn't something they wanted to create intenionally. GOG, like Disc is the closest to owning a game though.
@@xelefdev For physical and digital games in comparison. Online stores can revoke access to our digital purchases at any time even though they were paid in full and not paid in rent like PlayStation Plus subscription. Physical games though we keep and play when we want. We don't have to worry about them being taken away from us.
You Go Raina! Rightfully deserved. Thank you so much Bazielim and Raina for keeping us together. You guys gave us "The first, bitter taste of that terrible illusion: ....hope." ❤❤
Good Lord. A fan of a series is working on a game within that series. Most modern devs seem to hate the games they work on and the I.Ps they have control over.
Knowing that such a long-time and dedicated fan as Raina is the director, is such a relief! Congratulations to Raina for her passion breathing new life into such a magnificent series! :)
Huh, I always thought that BO2 was after Defiance? Ah, I misheard. You were talking about release order. xD My sincere congratulations to Raina. And of course big thanks you to Bazielim.
Oh this is so brilliant! I've followed Raina for years and I've seen the ups and downs shes gone through with her own soul reaver remastered project(s), there isnt another soul that deserves to work on these remasters more than her I can't wait to experience soul reaver for the 50th time but like i thought it looked when I was 10 and watching my late father fight Melchiah This honestly means so much to me!
Hey ! I just put an idea here : Why don't put an option to activate or not a spectral bone structure for the wings ? To make more believable the fact that he can hovers with it ? (and it will be so cool) I think about it since I am a kid ! :o Thank you for your work !
Honestly, I was on the fence about pre-ordering the remaster, and while this video wasn't about selling it, knowing that Raina is the director has made it so easy to hit the buy button. Knowing she's at the helm lets me know it's money well spent as it was in the hands of someone that truly loves the series and would make sure it would be done right. Can't wait till the 10th so we can all play them. :D
I already stated this on social networks but Raina totally deserved to be the Director! I'm so happy to know LOK is coming back and in such good hands ! Every one of your videos Baz are making me so happy and proud to be part of this community for so many years ! We are rising from our tombs ! I love you both, you're such amazing members in this community! Thanks for all your hard work. I discuss on twitter the statue design and why I also love the new design but I get why it was changed. It means the SR remasters team is really taking every opinions in the fandom. Thanks for listening to us all for every details.
The redesign just looked like a guy... Like lets be a bit honest here and stop being obtuse, if people saw that statue for the first time they'd 100% think it was a dude.
@@MarcusMaybenotWow people got weird visions of how a woman should look but hey to each their own... It reminds me of some people about Vi's body in Arcane or Ambessa, like strong women don't exist. You do know that women's bodies don't all look the same, just like for men's bodies, right ? I love the SR1 version of the water glyph altar and it's great they chose to be faithful to OG design but stating the redesign was a dude or woke is kinda absurd.
Big thanks to Raina for all her contributions to this beautiful IP, and for being a grant part in directing the Remasters. I did a big drop on the Kickstarter Campaign for the Prequel Graphic Novel, and I am so excited to get my hands on the game and play it while I wait for the Kickstarter Rewards to come. Thank you once again for giving us a brand new opportunity to navigate Nosgoth!
I just beat the the blood omen 1 yesterday and got all the trophies for blood omen 1 and it was a fun journey and I'm playing blood omen 2 going for a the trophies for that one to keep up the good work and I will be getting Soul Reaver 1&2 remaster I can't wait you guys are awesome ❤
Glad to see the statue reworked. Looks way better. Been following Raina for so many years (she taught me how to glitch fly in SR1!) and it's great to hear she is involved.
Soul Reaver was one of my favorite games as a kid. I saw the cover art and thought, “What is this all about?!” I asked my Dad to buy it for me. I had never played such an intriguing character. It was so innovative to me that my character couldn’t die. When I got to the cliffhanger at the end, I thought, “Well, I guess there will never be a sequel. I’ll never get my revenge on Kain!” The Legacy of Kain has a knack for being unkillable, doesn’t it?
So the fact Raina was working on the remasters this whole time means she read through all of our skepticism on Reddit? I'm glad the criticism was taken into account. And honestly feel a bit ashamed for my lack of faith. After the first trailer it seemed like a cheap cashgrab. But knowing someone who really cares about the series worked on the game fills my heart with hope. Now I know it's not a cashgrab. Though I wish it had a bigger budget...
it is incredible how many lives LOK has touched, I even wanted to call my own son Raziel, unfortunately there were some mere mortals that did not like the idea.
I'm so fucking happy for the community and for Raina herself. It was this information that convinced me to break my "no preordering" rule after being burned so many times. The ONLY other person I would have wanted directing this game is Amy Hennig herself. This is a win for the community, for Raina herself and it's nice to keep with tradition and have a woman direct these games.
Amazing that we're getting these games remastered! I wish we could also get a Legacy of Kain: Defiance remaster, that unifies the two game series into one. But we would need a summary of the first LoK games, since I don't see them remaking/remastering the first LoK games.
Wow. One of the most dedicated fans of the LoK series directs Soul Reaver... This is truly a dream come true.

You guys gave us "The first, bitter taste of that terrible illusion: ....hope."
❤❤
You were talking about release order. xD
My sincere congratulations to Raina.
And of course big thanks you to Bazielim.
Yes, it is chronogically :) Thank you!
Couldn't imagine a more fitting director. Congrats!
Dammit. Made me break my no pre-order rule.
Oh this is so brilliant! I've followed Raina for years and I've seen the ups and downs shes gone through with her own soul reaver remastered project(s), there isnt another soul that deserves to work on these remasters more than her
I can't wait to experience soul reaver for the 50th time but like i thought it looked when I was 10 and watching my late father fight Melchiah
This honestly means so much to me!
Hey ! I just put an idea here : Why don't put an option to activate or not a spectral bone structure for the wings ? To make more believable the fact that he can hovers with it ? (and it will be so cool) I think about it since I am a kid ! :o Thank you for your work !
Many thanks for another fantastic video my friend! Congratulations Raina!😎
Can't wait I pre-order these games quite a while ago hopefully blood omen too gets a remastered
I just discovered your channel, the perfect appetising for the Soul Reaver remaster soon, thanks!
I love how dorky Raina is acting after the announcement, it's adorable, although she has every right to be😂
Respect
Blessed be thy name 🙏
I just heard now that Raina Audron is the Director of the SR remasters. Pre-ordered the game weeks ago.
This was the closest I ever came from preordering a game! 10th can't come soon enough
Glad to see the statue reworked. Looks way better. Been following Raina for so many years (she taught me how to glitch fly in SR1!) and it's great to hear she is involved.
The legacy is in good hands 🤘
There's no one more prepared and deserving of being in charge of this remaster.
so awesome! very excited 😆
Heard pre orders have exploded. I hope that's true, deserves it.
when i heard Raina was on the project i felt such a sense of joy! its going to be fantastic!
日本版が出ることは絶望的かもしれませんが、希望を捨てずに待ち続けます…プレイできるみなさんが本当に羨ましい…
8:35 The middle picture is both cultured and hilarious
Soul Reaver was one of my favorite games as a kid. I saw the cover art and thought, “What is this all about?!” I asked my Dad to buy it for me. I had never played such an intriguing character. It was so innovative to me that my character couldn’t die. When I got to the cliffhanger at the end, I thought, “Well, I guess there will never be a sequel. I’ll never get my revenge on Kain!” The Legacy of Kain has a knack for being unkillable, doesn’t it?
Hm, seems like the natural progression of thing.
Major congrats obviously :)
I'm so happy with this news.
3:39 The statue is the scion of balance? I've never heard of that.
I took a shot every time Bazielim said "uhh" and fucking died.
😂😂😂
The Legacy of Kain had been gone for too long. I'm actually surprised how many of us are here for the remasters
I'm so fucking happy for the community and for Raina herself.
It was this information that convinced me to break my "no preordering" rule after being burned so many times.
The ONLY other person I would have wanted directing this game is Amy Hennig herself.
This is a win for the community, for Raina herself and it's nice to keep with tradition and have a woman direct these games.
please let there be a physical release of the remasters
Amazing that we're getting these games remastered!
I wish we could also get a Legacy of Kain: Defiance remaster, that unifies the two game series into one.
But we would need a summary of the first LoK games, since I don't see them remaking/remastering the first LoK games.
Any news on physical copy's
Wow that's so amazing, congratulations 🤩
So this Blew my Mind!!! Worthy of LoK Plot twists!!!💥🙌🔥
