Wow! What gorgeous hooks. I am also a pencil holder for normal hooks but when using the larger hooks >12mm I tend to use the knife hold. I have never thought that these thick hooks would be comfortable for pencil holders even though you usually use them in all your tutorials (dahhh)! So glad you made this review! Thanks.
I have two of the Nelsonwood hooks and I love the looks of them. Also they are comfortable and if I get tired holding them one way I can change and keep going. I recommend people who have problems to give them a try. Furls, to me, have failed in my needs to ease my pain.
Those hooks are works of art. Glad to hear they work for you and don't aggravate the situation. I have wrist issues so right now any crocheting is off for the week, then I will slowly work up to 1 hour per day. I could crochet, knit and cross stitch 24/7 if i didn't get tired and make tons of mistakes.
I have over 200 custom hooks ,I display them as art in my craft room, furls and Nelson and I bought some from Europe.these hooks you show they are so comfortable ,I also use an an arthritic glove on my hand .These hooks are the ferarri’s of hooks.my husband buys me these kinds of hooks for birthdays and Christmas ,I also have furls Tunisian hooks .I don’t understand why people should judge your choice of hooks.Once you use one of these wood hooks you will you will be sold .
I am imagining this collection and I bet it's so gorgeous!!! I love that you are displaying them too, I hope to do the same one day. I wish I could see them, I can look at these types of hooks all day! Every one of them is a work of art. There is something about RUclips where people get very mad over creators using high end anything 🙄 they also get mad over yarn hauls lol SILLY I KNOW 🤣
I am coveting a set of his wood hooks with clover tips. I have one hook of his in the solid wood but I don't know if I want a whole set as I don't like Susan Bates hooks either, so I am leery to buy a whole set of the all wood hooks. I bought 6 Furls Odyssey hooks thinking I would love them but hate the inline hooks and will be selling them on. Thanks for this review.
Gorgeous hooks, you actually get to use those beautiful pieces of art. Eye candy, and they make crocheting easier on your hands, yes please. Beautiful collection.
Thank you for sharing I myself suffer from nerve problems in my hands and arms and this video makes me more confident about buying these handmade hooks. Thanks again and god bless
I agree with you about the furls crochet hooks. Using the furls hooks made my shoulder pain worse--its like their harder to use. My favorites are the Clover and Tulip crochet hooks. Heads up, Furls has a very bad return set up. They say they will return their crochet hooks when in reality you will be ignored and you will never see your money again!
OMG! I have a set of TooShayCrochet hooks, I love them and have had them for 7 years! Beautiful beautiful couple and they really helped my hands from being in pain! Yes 🙌🏾
I recently purchased 3 crochet hooks from Too Shay. I didn’t think that I would ever be able to crochet again. I hurt my right hand from crocheting for to many Hours at a time. I recently purchased a ergonomic crochet hook with a clover tip. OMG! This particular crochet hook changed my life. Now it is not great for ever type of yarn ( like Carons simply soft), but it work’s wonderful with expensive wool yarn and pound of love. IDK How pretty a hook is. I just want to be able to crochet without any pain in my hand the next day.. How are your hooks feeling?
I had seen Nelsonwood on Etsy and wondered if they were good, consistent hooks (besides being total eye candy). I was so glad to discover you had a review video on them! I am starting to have issues with my hook hand and I wanted to see what was out there beyond my ergonomic Clover hooks. I have never used one of these larger bodied hooks, but I want to try one out (plus I love hand-made stuff!). Good tools can make all the difference in the world between enjoying a task, and having it become absolute frustration or misery. It is funny--I was watching another RUclipsr "review" the Nelsonwood hooks, and she said she would be completely unable to use them. She bought them because she collected beautiful and interesting hooks. In practice, she is only able to use thin, inexpensive aluminum hooks because that is what her hand "wants". :)
My pocket book wants the thin, inexpensive metal hooks too but my hands scream for bigger handles like Nelsonwood! 🤣🤣🤣 As you will see in my tutorials for 2 plus years now his hooks are the main ones I use. So I can say with certainty that they are great for hand pain, arthritis, carpal tunnel etc in addition to being total eye candy 😍😍😍🤣. I am glad you found this to be helpful, I've honestly given a lot of hooks a try and his are just the best for me. 😁
I have been looking forward to this video for some time now and I was very happy to see it out. I have always admired your hooks. They are so beautiful. I didn’t know you had problems with your hand. I have arthritis in my left hand. I’m left handed and I know it’s because I crochet so much. I hold my crochet hooks like you do and I have also tried the knife hold but don’t find it as comfortable. I got a furls thinking it would help but found that after a bit my thumb hurt just like you described. Hooks are the tools you use everyday. You should never have to apologize for seeking the best for you regardless of the price. I will certainly check them out and start saving to get one and see if they help my hand not hurt so much. Thank you, thank you 😊 💕💕✨
I take Susan Bates hooks and wrap them with fimo clay and bake them myself. If anybody's looking for a more cost-effective version of some of these hooks. This is work for me. I, like Courtney and unable to use hooks unless they have some with to them because my hands will begin to kill me. I'm an electrician and I already have carpal tunnel from beatin hell out of myself over the years
Wow I had the same problem with the girls oddesy line there alot heavier than other hooks not to say for some there not great they just started hurting me as I have arthritis connective tissue disease and carpal tunnel .. I also hold my hook in the knife position .. Thank you for sharing your views it has helped me tremendously 🥰
I just found your channel I love your collection I don’t crochet that much any more because I have carpal tunnel in my wrist and in my elbow and had surgery to both I never thought about getting bigger handles hooks to see if that would help me. Thank you I will give them I try ❤️
Hi Shonna and welcome!!!! I hope that you can find a style that works great for you and you can crochet more! It sounds like we have almost the same issues going on so I think that a larger handle might be just the thing to help you get back to crocheting more. There is a hook handle that boye makes to put metal hooks in that is pretty inexpensive that you could try as well. I just pulled it up on Amazon www.amazon.com/dp/B004ALF72G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_KCE1G1MCD46XCZDKEMDQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1, that's just a link so you can see what I'm talking about. 😁
Those are all gorgeous. I had the same problem with the furls hooks. I had my sister try out her new lathe by making me a couple of handles. I can't wait to see what she does.
I also have Furls, Nelsonwood, TooShayCrochet, and MyDarnYarn hooks, and I really like them. All are comfortable and work well with all types of yarn, but I still have Boye and Susan Bates too.
Those are beautiful.. and I know they are well worth the price.. my man has turned handles for almost all of my hooks.. I love them all.. I was not able to crochet with thin yarn until I got special handles 😊
Girl you don't owe any explanation for how many hooks you have nor how much you've spent on them.. you are allowed to spend all your hard earned money on what ever you fancy... just like all the rest of us 😘
Thank you! You would not believe how many people get mad about it! I had delete comments last year when I did a review on my 2 furls lol I would love to see the ones your guy made for you!!!
Those hooks are all Gorgeous 😍, I am glad to hear that you have been spending on yourself for your pain relieve, comfort to bring us all the amazing tutorials you have , I can’t keep up with you anymore 😂, you know I still haven’t made myself the Gerrie cardigan yet so hopefully this year I have the yarn in fact I have 2 lots of yarn because I want more than 1 😂 I’m hoping after I finish the baby stuff I’m making to get a start on the cardigans for myself ! 🥰💞
Wow you have a beautiful collection of crochet hooks, hand made things are always more beautiful and should be more respectable, I can’t pay for hooks like these at least for the moment but I find it cool your collection of hooks. Before not now, I used plan aluminium/steel crochet hooks but those are so hard on the hands and painful, now I upgraded to clover amour and tulip etimo, I only use these now less cramps and hand pain, I am anther pencil holder. May be some other day I will try handmade hooks, why not. ☺️
Or if you suffer from a condition that causes Mini-strokes that cause hand mind coordination issues. I’vejust had my 15th and 16th ones and I’ve had 6 major seizures too.
Extremely comfortable! I have no affiliation with the artist or company, i have a full set with some spares 🤣🤣. I haven't found anything else better. Especially if you have any joint issues, arthritis etc.
I started with the ergonomic soft touch type hooks when I first started having problems. They do help but also watch your grip, you could be holding it tighter than you need to and that will also cause the same pain. I hope you find a hook that helps!
Oh no I WISH I could make these. I would be giving them away as prizes if I could make them myself! Pretty sure I would cut myself, a lot, if I tried. Sorry for the confusion!!!🤣🤣
Won’t fix issues but I use turmeric and tart cherry 🍒as a natural way to for pain and decrease Uric acid and inflammation. Also decrease my meat 🥩 consumption. Makes thing’s easier for me hope this is helpful.
Thank you I'm willing to try anything natural so I will definitely try that! I already have the turmeric! I just got some CBD salve which does actually help too but it's pricey for a small amount.
You are really comfortable when u hold it in ur left hand, because they are round turned. So much better then others that have bigger handles but not round.
No one is "double jointed". This implies that you have 2 joints. You probably mean that you have hypermobility , or joints that stretch farther than normal. I am so sorry you have so much pain in the area that hinders your beautiful art. I know that must be frustrating! Your work is so beautiful.

Absolutely agree, your tools are a reflection of your work as you progress you want better tools.
Those hooks are gorgeous, made with love.

I am so envious. I have the clay but not the talent to make such beautiful handles.

@@FiberFoxStudios Thankmypu for letting me know. I have carpal tunnel issues, so comfort is no 1 for me, and price second

The only thing I would be concerned with is how comfortable will they be in my hand, because I am left handed.
I have a left handed friend at work so I will have to get her to crochet with one and see what she thinks. Because I'm not sure.

I guess it's sort of a slang term for Hypermobility lol but yes that's what it is.💙
