PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR NEW WEBSITE IS AT: WWW.MEHULIISA.COM A step by step tutorial on steam juicing sweet Bing cherries with the Mehu-Liisa steam juicer from Finland.
This was a helpful video, but I'd sure like to know what your total yield was on that full pot of Bings and how long it took from start to finish on that total yield.
Awesome. I make a lot of wine from wild berries and fruits, which I do by boiling up the fruit with water in a big pan. Do you think I’d notice a difference in the kind of juice that I’d get by using a steam juicer? Seems to me like some goodness and flavour might get left behind in the pulp and skins?
You are correct, steam juicer take all the nutrients out though the flavor is intact. If you want the nutrient benefits use a mechanical juicer. You can juice the fruit then put it into freezer bags to use at a later date to keep the fruit and retain the nutrients though I would not keep the frozen juice in the freezer longer than 3-6 month. Steam juicing is wonderful, the juice is wonderful tasting and great for jellies.
When you steam juice fruit you take all the nutrients out of the fruit. 2nd the fruit pulp is a near dried mass good for putting in your compost pile but a waste really of an expensive fruit for cherries. If you want the juice for recipes or nutritional benefits a mechanical juicer is better though the pulp is also equally worthless and wasted save for composting.
Thank you for sharing!!! I couldn't find anything else anywhere about using my juicer or juicing my Bing cherries!!!!!
what do you do with the cherries that are left in the top pan?
What can you use the cherries for after you juice them?
