If you are using the track saw for repetative cuts for cabinets etc, consider getting the TSO set-up as well as the TSO square you clamp the the track.
That pica pencil is the everyday man's draftsmen pencil - I had use of that type of pencil All of my life I do like the fact that it's easy to sharpen I might have to get one myself because my father's pencils required a special sharpener that was attached to his table where he drew plans Yes he's an engineer and HVAC engineer everybody seems to think that type of engineer works in the field and he does not he draws the commercial plans and blueprints but I'm getting off topic.
subtle & brilliant message, Cody... cd's from the inside out & dt's from the outside in... Cheers Ginger... I just "love" yt censoriousness, if that's even a word... Woo Hoo
Install a pair of handles on the back side. They would be out of the way in the tool well. It would make it easier to move the plywood and you could use them to hang it on the wall when it's not in use.
Where were all the West Coast men? Perhaps they are just completely outnumbered. I see a blue wall on that coast. Thank God for the Great Lakes men of the North deciding to show up and men of the South holding it down like they do.
Mr. Wranglerstar you’ve outdone me again. I was just looking at one of these blankets for my house and I decided it was unjustifiably pricey for my living room. Then you went and stapled one to a shop table . Looks good!
My reloading bench came from the old GI's Joes in Portland. It was one of the checkout stands in their store. It is plywood covered with green Formica. I shortend it to 5 feet and used cut down 4x4 fence posts from Home Depot for legs. The top is 2 inches thick, so the bench is heavy. I added wheels so it can be moved around.
Grandma taught me to sew, and she even gifted me a sewing kit when I turned 9. It was a hand me down from an old aunt. I still have it and still use it for repairs. And I still keep the original owners photograph in it❤
That’s cool! When my parents divorced in the early 80’s. Mom made my dad a sewing kit. I have this same kit still in the same old school cool whip container.
Man that blanket is stunning. Cool idea. I was just telling my wife how much I liked the blanketed table at REI. Toothless will love shedding her hair on it too I’m sure!
Track saws are amazing. You can get a clamp-on kit to turn a regular skill saw into track saw. It's more precise than a table saw, and less dangerous to boot.
That milescraft kit is nice and a lot cheaper than a dedicated tracksaw. I have one. If I was going to use it a lot, I probably would have bought a dedicated unit because it is a little fiddly
Super cool! You should attach a few pieces of that scrap ply to the under side. Cut them the same size as the tool well to keep it centered and not moving around on ya! That's what this "east coast man" would do! As always awesome content 👍👍
Just an idea, but you could put ears on the bottom of that plywood that lineup with each vise and use them to clamp the table top in place. Just a thought from a Pennsylvania man.
Just a thought, you could screw a couple 2x4s or something similar to the bottom where the vices are to clamp in the table top. But the handles would stick out past the edge of the plywood then
Maple butcher block table is what I got..... adore it dearly. On a black iron pipe base painted black, with a small USA made vise painted red on the corner
When Cody started prepping the excess on the backside, I was waiting for a line about Grandad and folding hospital corners. Honestly a little surprised.
Only proho can make a 17 minute video about cutting a sheat of plywood twice and then throwing a blanket over it lol grate video keep up the good work and we'll see you in the next one
Cody, I built a crafting board, too. I used 1-inch by 1-inch authentic woven cotton Gingham. Do not use printed garbage gingham. That stuff is never square. First, launder the fabric layout by pinning or using a brad gun to the ironing table and square the gingham with an iron. Note: I was in trouble using brads on the ironing table; it is her stuff. I laid out a layer of cork glued down, then added two layers of an old blanket with no holes with spray adhesive spray, one layer of quilting batting with spray adhesive, and the gingham fabric on top of it, making sure that I stapled square on the mark. On the back side of the board, I added more cork, I use the board in the relegated garage, but sometimes I see family use it for crafts and sewing. The inch grid helps achieve happy eye-balling accuracy. Works with cutting glass on a soft cushion for a better break. Also, I can use small brads to hold items in position and square. Plus, my family uses straight pins to hold clothing patterns and fabric in place. I do worry about a scissor blade going through the grid fabric. Yet the wood glue (Elmer's) been on it comes out with a warm, damp cloth with paper toweling next to the glue and steam from an iron. The cork keeps it from slipping. My Native side would not go for losing a perfect woolen Pendleton blanket.
If you put some batten on the overhang underneath where the vices are it will be easier when you take on and off to always get back in the same position. Drop on and push the batten up to the bench edge.
I love this channel and enjoy your content. I swear I am going to get a membership so I can join the fellowship in the morning. $5 is nothing. See you soon
The first video of yours I watched was building this bench. I wanted to watch someone other than Paul build it before I did mine. Still got mine and it’s going strong.
I highly recommend getting in to some sewing, it’s fun and almost therapeutic. I re-slung our patio chairs which making them was fun, sliding them back on was not.
Wow, i love this Cody!! Two possible improvements: 1) Could be to add a hanger to underside to hang it on the wall when not in use cause its also a beautiful piece of art, to also keep nasty floor stuff off it, and 2) between plywood & blanket, sandwich an inner low pile loft cotton batting that also covers the sharp edges to soften/round edges under blanket. So that its a manly version of a large scale multi purpose mat like some quilting shops use (i.e. Matt did for Jordans Fabric in Grants Pass, that I see in every YT quilt tutorial they post). Seems batting underneath could also help preserve the beautiful blanket. PIC, love and light ! 💜🌿🌿🕊🕊🕊🌿🌿💜
I've actually been using both pica wet and dry since seeing one of them on an Adam savage video a few years back, and I thought it looked interesting until I did a little research. There's also different colours you can get for the mechanical pencil depending on your work material like red which I find easier to see on metal.
Content suggestion for you: As Jack is now "on the great wide world", why not make a "Young Man's Van" for him? Get the old Adventure Van, keep the bed and sink, put in a small work/study bench, some locking Tool drawers and get It equipped with a Basic Tool kit to help around a dorm or frat house?
As someone who doesn't often cut plywood or large slabs is a track saw still worth it? I've just been using a straight edge as a guide for my circ saw.3-4 times a year the hassle doesn't bother me too much
Table looks really sharp now, so glad you didn't cut that blanket. I wish everyone knew the quality of Pendleton. Was sad to hear they closed their store in Seattle.
i enjoy your videos, my friend! have been watching since before 2020 but only now had a chance to comment. for those who haven't seen your forced product reviews or the summary of working for a VFD in Summit County, i highly recommend!
I love the looks and quality, but I am just too poor to use a beautiful Pendelton Blanket as a hobby table cover. Keep up the good fight, God Bless you and yours.
Cody, those corners are going to wear pretty rapidly with sharp edges like that. You just got a router and round over bit in the last video, take the blanket back off and put it to use here. There's tomorrow's video for you.

Cody’s the only man on this planet who can get other men watching a man staple a blanket to a bit of wood for 17 mins
Cody knows who he is! He’s a dude playing the dude, disguised as another dude!!
What a waste of time.
Best waste of my time ever

How true from Michigan
Or realize that blue and red don't matter. There's only green, and that's the only thing both sides care about. It isn't your quality of life.
Here from TN! We do indeed.
@@mitchchartrandIt absolutely does matter.

Nice! Suggestion: screw two wooden blocks under it at the location of the two vises. Close the vises to secure the plate.

So nice of you to make that nice elevated wool insulated cat platform. 😁
Mr. Wranglerstar you’ve outdone me again. I was just looking at one of these blankets for my house and I decided it was unjustifiably pricey for my living room. Then you went and stapled one to a shop table . Looks good!
I watched you build that bench. It has aged very nicely.
I feel unburdened by yesterday's festool slander. Thank you for this safe space.

Old mama and Toothless are going to love that new fabric table
Truth! However, as it stands, they will have to take turns.
Moma kitty has plans for that fabric later 😊

Cody get yourself a dust extractor you won't regret it! Track saw with dust extraction is simply the best combo
“Must be nice…. Must be nice to have a Pendleton blanket.”
Such a great cat-dad for making a giant scratching bed for Momma Kitty !! 😆
Even though i am in considerable pain, my smile is a little bit bigger today! 😊😊😊

Nobody gonna talk about the $20 pencil?
Rockin' the serial killer glasses I see

Cody, if you get the Milwaukee stapler, you can EASILY run brads through it as well. No need to buy both.
I'm sensing some suppressed thoughts and emotions

I have many memories of hikes at Crater Lake. Beautiful spot on earth. That near vertical hike down and then up, is quite a workout!
It is just another day out in the real world.

That looks like a great surface for cleaning and assembling boom sticks
God Bless you Cody you're such a wonderful informal person. Thank you!!
Rainbow coloring on the blanket. . . It’s ok to come out of the closet now
Thank you. I don't feel very safe in this country, but I feel safe watching this.
All I can say is… you certainly won’t be disappointed with the Milwaukee stapler… you’lol get the fizz all over again! 😂
Very nice - but would a 1/4" round over on all the edges have hurt?
I got me the M12 stapler, use it to put up Christmas lights every year, as well as other jobs. It’s soooper skookum!
The "rainbow" on the crater lake blanket probably represents the snow, lake water, shrubs, trees sunset, sky.

Edges overhanging are handy for clamps. I remember one of the best bargain buys was a corded stapler for $10. Really handy when needed.

An east coast guy would have put cleats on the underside of the plywood to lock into the groove in the bench to keep the top from sliding around.

Nice. A fitted duck canvas cover would make a good first sewing project. 😊
Good opportunity for a collaboration with another RUclips Maker, too.
What happened to the 2x4 butcher block workbench you fabricated about 5 years ago? Is that still in service in your shop?
This is a great idea, I’ll be making one for my shop. Same issue with my shop mouser Oscar so I’ll need a cover as well 😂
God Bless you and family too...
for plywood, would it be necessary to stain/seal it before applying the blanket over it? I imagine moisture would be a problem.

What a great project. And a perfect touch with the Pendleton.
Gotta use the white work bench blanket to protect the pendleton work bench blanket which protects the wood work bench 👍 😅

I had a little bit of sticker shock regarding the blanket, but considering it's heirloom quality, it's not bad.
