These blades are flimsy even when used properly. The extra distance from the saw to the cutting end of the blade will flex it way off the 90 degrees you need for a clean cut. Way better off just learning how to use the tool as it was designed.

Yep ... this is OK for thin stuff ( like PCB laminate or plywood / hardboard ) ... but for thick planks of wood , better to use a band saw ( although these machines are MUCH more expensive ! ! ) .... DAVE™ 🛑

Know these jigs. A low budget method if you urgently need to replace your band saw. But nothing more: first problem is that pieces bigger than half an inch will already get an all-over-the-place angled edge instead of a rectangular one. Second problem is that you need a specific blade as the normal ones cut when the piston pushes them down. This pushes the piece you're working on away from you in this particular situation as everything is upside down. Now imagine how you hold a chunk of wood down with force (you should never use force with electric tools) so it won't fly away. These blades exist but still, you need a guide rail on the top like in a band saw to keep the blade straight. And since there is no tension it will never be a full replacement for a band saw.

you could still add some rubber-feet & some kind of tray for the wood-shavings to the base

Why use wood and a cut piece of metal to secure the jigsaw to the top wood? Couldnt you just as easily drill holes in the metal of the jigsaw and (using washers) screw directly to the top?
Seems like unnecessary complexity to me.

Because using a "scroll saw" the normal way is to safe...instead, build this so the unguarded blade is sticking straight up in the air, and it's extremely difficult to turn the saw OFF in case of an accident. Smh
