How might we re-think design thinking to foster inclusive innovation in Africa?

Amollo drew on her extensive experience in applying human-centred design across academia, international development, and philanthropy to offer insightful reflections on applying and rethinking design thinking for African contexts. Following her talk, participants engaged in an interactive session to envision an innovation hub where people with diverse voices, perspectives and abilities are included in the process of developing innovations to meet the needs of people living in the city.
Dr Amollo Ambole is a development and innovation expert with 17 years of experience in academia, international development, and philanthropy. She is proudly living with a disability, having lost sight in her left eye in a car crash in January 2024. Living with a disability has bolstered her mission to create sustainable, people-centric innovations that elevate livelihoods and promote effective leadership, ultimately generating lasting positive change across Africa and the rest of the world.
