Hi! I use your videos to practice my Hindi! Love to watch old Hindi (Indian in general) movies and from time to time I come across your father (The chess players being my favourite). Greetings from Argentina!

Gosh! Amazing memories. Thank you so much for bringing those memories back.
I was in the second year of Mechanical Engineering (in Nashik) then. In our college gathering we played an adaptation of Lagaan, where the students were the villagers and the professors were depicted as British officers. Predictably, the students loved it, but it did not quite go well with the teachers.
I was the director, and was nominated by my friends to play the role of Bhuvan; I was called Bhuvan for the next 2 years of Engineering.

Im from UK and my friends weren't interested in watching Lagaan because of the old theme even though they were more aamir khan fan than i am. Also as you mentioned no one knew what the film was about. I took them as i knew aamir khan film will be good and we didnt regret it. In UK its very rare that the audience whistles or cheers but the whole audience did just that during the match at the end. I think the fact that we didn't know what it was about made us enjoy it even more

I watched this legendary movie in an Army campus. In open theatre setup....
Trust me, the feel, the excitement, the thrills one gets in an open theatre setup and that too with our respected soldiers of Indian army and their families that is just so priceless and unmatched!! 🙂👍
Just nothing can match that feeling when you watch such a great movie in an open theatre. Crowd cheering with full excitement during that match, that happens at the end of the movie... When our Indian cricket team fights tooth and nails with the british cricket team and defeats them at last.
My God! I still remember that time like yesterday, the whole army campus was cheering like crazy on that last scene where amir khan hits the ball with full force and the fielder catches it, but alas he catches that ball outside the boundary!! 💪💪
Those were such great days. Really miss them!
Today's Netfix generation can never understand this.....

Jamie do you remember the British medium pacer in the movie, the ruthless pacer with mutton chop sidelocks. He has written a book about his experience in the film, "From Balham to Bollywood" it is a good read for someone who loves Hindi cinema. Just a suggestion!

I am not someone who would go theatre twice to watch same movie. But after watching Lagaan when I asked cousin to come with me to watch it again he was confused, hesitant and reluctant. But came out of theatre with sheer joy

Lagan was a copy of one of the episodes of the famous American tv series 'Dr. Quinn, medicine woman. The difference being that in the episode the protagonists play a baseball match against a team of bankers. The protagonist were all villagers belonging to various professions.

Many had no idea this an Aamir Khan production and even a magnum opus. People in general declared it a flop before release!
I remember looking at an audio cassette at a store and a local guy telling in front of me- how is this movie going to work, this is like another 1947 earth and even I was under an impression this movie is made with a low budget coz I had not seen a trailer too though I am a regular filmgoer.
I remember telling that guy- you can't say how an Aamir khan film may turn out. That guy insisted this is going to be a flop and I had ended that argument with a smile. 😊

Lagan me 6 balls ki over dikhai thi jabki pahele 8 balls ki over huva karti thi!!
Lakha ko fixer dikhaya tha 😂
Film thi to Sardar ji aur Muslim bhi team me dalne anivarya the!!
Aj bhi match ke result ke liye kuchh over dalva diye jate hai par film me last ball ko No ball and fir 6 wala anti climax dikhana tha 😅
Dost ke sath Theater me jab log buses aur tractor bhar bhar ke gav se humare town me Gadar dekhne a rahe the humne Lagan dekhi 😂😅
Note sabko bahar roka jata tha aur jaise hi gate khulta log ticket khidki pe bhagte the. Gadar jaisa ticket pane ka craze aur housefull theater maine kabhi nahi dekha aur humne dekhi thi Lagan 😂😅
