@@dom3827 Mk1 and Mk2 not enough bro, because mk2 had sometimes galvanized body in more places if you payed more in the factory I think. Anyway, the Golf Mk3 rust the most because the body was weak in that cars and that's really sad.. In Poland most of them are normal junks so people are giving them to the junk places 🥺

I just started my 1985 MKII Scirocco restoration. It sat for 15 years before I rescued it. My paint looks like this Golf. I'm the original owner.

Bought a 1990, 1.6 mk2 in 2016 for 1300 Euro. So far I only had to do the regular services, replace some hoses and the oil pan, brakes, change the gearbox (bought a used one for 100 Euro) and replace the left headlight. After every winter I grind off some rusty spots on the doors and put on some new paint over the spots - lasts again for another year. Since 2016 I drove about 55.000 kilometers and the Golf never disappointed me. Most reliable and most inexpensive car I've ever had.

You gonna love her for sure, she is in very good shape and looks rust free. Watch for the door edges and the floor pan, there is the typical rust spots. Mk2's are very grateful cars, i have one too for daily use. 😀 It's very simple and easy to work on it.

My grandpa is drvinig VW GOLF MK2.For 28 years. And its like new.
Doesn't surprise me, very good build quality with these old VWs!

My 1991 Golf stood few years on the field too. There's no rust and the paint is in quite good condition, some places need little corrections but its not problem and I need to put new engine 😀 I'd like to finish him before my driving exam for 1 year, so I have to be patient and still getting money for him. Good luck and report us efects because we are really interesting how he will look like afer hard but profitable work😀

+1 Golf mk2 tuning
In 10 years, I have used three VW Golf MK2 petrol automatic, covering a total of 1 million km. They are amazing cars that are reliable and fairly easy to maintain. Unfortunately, the following series, because of the engine management electronics, were not so reliable anymore ....

Really nice version! The very reliable RP Engine, and so much equipment, that is non standard! 5 doors, RPM gauge, servo steering, automatic transmission. And the sump looks extremely dry (also in the next videos). Hope its gonna be a nice smooth restauration witout any horrible discoveries...

HI EJO, great projects like this, I am looking forward to it and certainly because I once had a Golf for a few years, one with a 1.6 liter engine, unique in those days, the Golf was built in 1977 or thereabouts.

I got your red sunfaded paint right here. Don’t buy a red car here in Texas. 2008 Honda was faded within 3 years. I want to see what you do. Of course l have clear coat to deal with. Our 1995 Red Volvo is in much better shape, not only better paint but also was garage-kept. Looking forward to this progress on the VW. Thank you for posting.

Here in Sweden summer is really short, so for cars with clear coat we don't have to worry that much about fading paint. Rust, however is a bigger problem. :/

really excited to see the paint back on its prime condition! menzerna as30 or other rubbing compound gonna give good polishing step. to be honest, feel bit discouraged when i see the passenger front door. still, finger crossed. for the brake rotor, maybe need more driving and hard brake time to remove the rust naturally?

No, the rust is to far gone on the rotors to save just by driving around. :/

Very impressive. My MK2 doesn't start after 6 weeks standing in the rain outside. Engine is a 1,6 Liter PN. Do you have an idea? Greetings. 😀
How was the tyre pressure after such a long time?
Actually I didn't check. (Forgot to bring a pressure gauge)
But it's really impressive that they held pressure at all, and it was enough to safely drive to the garage at least. 😊👍
I had same same situation , 17 6:06 years parked inside, started, like a sharm! Diesel 5 gear manual, mice had made their home inside seats! Omg, want the odor out of it! Any tios?
Well first of all get rid of all sources of the smell, then a good clean. Furthermore, something that can really help is an ozone treatment. Look that up. 👍😊

@@ejoautovideos jag polerade och sedan på med ett vax, har kvar bilen ännu och jag måste polera minst 3ggr per år om man inte vill ha rosa lack 😅

Ja, först och främst är tanken med detta projekt att försöka få den så fin som möjligt genom att rekonda/polera den. Sen kanske jag gör lite bodywork.
Vi får se hur långt jag går med det mekaniska, har många projekt som kostar just nu och det finns inte så mycket att hämta på att byta en massa delar på denna bil, då de inte är värda mycket ens besiktigade..
Detta säger jag nu medans jag kan tänka rationellt, vi får se vart vi är om några månader. Kommer säkert ändå sluta med att jag fixar till den en massa så den kan besiktigas osv hehe 😂

It's not good to try start engine without checking the timing belt first, and turning engine with hand first.
