I'm not mad Yotsuba won but I'm mad that their relationship wasn't developed past one date. They should have gone more in depth about both sides of their relationship more in the movie but obviously they didn't. A shame Itsuki didn't win as she had the best chemistry.
I felt the giveaway was Fuutarou's genuine laugh during the date. It only happens then in the entire series. Ultimately though, I think the mangaka could have picked any of the girls, but chose Yotsuba because it would surprise the most people.
I have a question about the movie. in the movie futaro is shown to kiss all the the sisters at different times and i am confused about if that actually happened or if those were “what if” scenarios
Generally I would say based on what the series was trying to go for Yotsuba is the most balanced choice that if handled perfectly could have satisfied everyone but because some of the things mentioned here and some other things did not manage to do so. Ending Ituski's and Ichika's arc with "even if we did not end up together, we got a friend for life" is a nice way to end them Ending Miku's arc with "despite not being chosen I don't regret meeting Fuu because it helped me move forward in life" is a nice way to end hers. Kinda wish Negi did the same thing with Nino instead of this weird overcomplicated thing what we actually got that feels like he had more in mind.... Also I think Itsuki and Yotsuba are the only "viable" choices that could work either way depending on the direction the series would take: You either have the route that we got where he takes Yotsuba because she was always there for him and his great chemistry lead to him and Itsuki becoming best friends for life (familiy after marrying Yotsuba) or Fuu picks Itsuki because of their chemistry and Yotsuba becomes a friend for life because Fuu decided to let go of the past... Miku, Nino and to a lesser extent Ichika express their love in a way that I think Fuu is not able to deal with and return in a way that would work in the long run even if their chemistry would be perfect. This is why I am OK with them not being chosen
I agree with every single point you made. When I finished the manga I had these exact same opinions and even though Ichika is my favorite I believed Itsuki was going to be the one based on chemistry
Yeah, they had no romantic chemistry with him and their relationship with him was one-sided. People who thought that they had a chance were pretty blind in my opinion.
I’ve always been of the opinion that Futarou as a character lacks a ton of weight past the midpoint, which as you say, is frustrating and annoying. I have my qualms with the very missed potential Negi could’ve given Yotsuba, because as you point out, the relationship between Futarou and Yotsuba could’ve really been special, but it goes nowhere. Yotsuba also has a ton of baggage that kinda just goes away rather fast, which let’s be real, her issues take time to heal. That’s why I don’t know how to feel about Yotsuba, but then we have Futarou, a character who becomes really lifeless and not very reactive. All of these issues at the end of the day come down to Negi not being very good at making it all come together and also not having more stuff planned ahead. Tis’ a shame.
thx for the lovely birthday gift great stuff as always I'm curious if you'll ever do a video om futaro cause I'd be quite interested in seeing futaro near the end dissapointed me
Happy birthday :) Well, I don't have any plans to make a vid on Futaro, but you never know. I thought I wouldn't make any more vids on the Quints, but here it is xD
The chemistry between each quint depends on who showed romantic feels for him first (miku) like it was hinted (showed) since the 2 episode and miku and futaro slept in same bed when he stayed over so the chemistry between that was like pretty high and connected but hopefully neji makes more special events with yotsuba when the new tqq comes out in July like why and how did he come to the conclusion of yotsuba and the graduation it was the main part of the story but I felt is was rushed my opinion
For me, Itsuki felt more like the best friend character. Everyone thinks they'll be together but they're just good friends. Miku I would say lacked progress, I'm saying this as a Miku fan, I think had she not given herself all those conditions, she could have been more likely. Nino I would say was very agressive and while yes I know you sometimes need to be aggressive in a relationship, I would say it went a bit over at points which really turned me off. Ichika felt more like an advisory figure to me throughout the manga and anime, always showing interest but never getting it back. Also it didnt help she was willing to push over her own family to get what she wanted, that just didnt sit right with me. But Yotsuba feels like the one, I had a feeling from Episode 11 of season 1 that it would either be Yotsuba or Miku. Something about Yotsuba and her willingness to help Fuutarou gave me that feeling Fuutarou might want someone who can willingly support him through anything.
Exactly, Yotsuba and Fuutarou romance/chemistry was not developed! This is the main cause an ending like this cannot be accepted. It seems... no, it's like there is no love between them
It was. Fuutarou and Yotsuba have the best romantic chemistry followed by Itsuki and then Ichika. They got married for a reason. There was never really love between Fuutarou and the others, it was one-sided especially for Miku and Nino. Yotsuba and Futarou complete each other in a social kind of yin and yang way that’s really special. Yotsuba is the most equipped to break through the layers of dogshit that is Futarou's personality. And futarou really helps her get through a lot of the self worth issues Yotsuba has as a person. So, most of all they both just make the other happy in the simplest and most pure way. It's the kind of cliche cuteness you only see in movies but it's genuinely sweet.
@@richkraus4857they really don't. They have barely any chemistry, their relationship is underdeveloped. Yotsuba doesn't "complete" him, shes barely present in the story compared to the others, and the moments she gets, even in retrospective, are not good enough
@@vnmememan8657 They do. The two have very good chemistry with each other and their relationship was developed and not completely one-sided like Nino and Miku's relationship with him. Yotsuba makes him complete, the others would do the exact opposite. Yotsuba was present here and there, not always mainly but now and then and really became mainly later after chapter 86. Yotsuba's moments were good enough because they weren't completely one-sided like the others and also developed Fuutarou unlike the others. Yotsuba didn't have as much character development as the others but had the most character development to be chosen while the others barely had any. It was pretty obvious who Fuutarou would choose if people had paid attention.
@richkraus4857 I completely disagree, ALL of them could have worked, neither Nino or Miku were one sided, they were some of the best candidates even, because they were DEVRLOPED. Maybe I worded it wrong, the issue with Yotsuba is not her character, but the way the story is written. She suddenly gets all her development right at the end, we get her backstory and insight into her problems as a person shoehorned in at the end. For a satisfying romance, a bit of "not great" foreshadowing isn't enough. There need to be active romantic moments, visible to the reader, which Yotsuba basically had none of. They were all viable candidates. A good ending could have been written for all of them. Nino would have been perfect, so would Miku, Ichika too, Itsuki not as much but she could also have been if she was written better and not left to the sidelines. Ultimately it came out of nowhere, and even after all these years I refuse to accept the ending. Not because of Yotsuba, but because of the way it was written. It just makes me hate Yotsuba by association with the ending.
@richkraus4857 also it was never obvious, you can only say it was "obvious" in hindsight, but thats just comfirmation bias because she already won. ALL of the quints helped Fuutarou develop as a person. ALL of them could have completed him. If the author had wanted to and actually put in the effort, he could have written a satisfying ending for ALL of them. Also, she didn't have development as the bride either until the very end. THAT is the issue, she needed everything she got at the end sooner, and have actual active romantic moments with Fuutarou. Her entire arc should have been made open and obvious like all the other quints, and started at the latest at the halfway mark, if not even a bit earlier. A simple "well she always supported him and accepted him" as an explanation isn't good enough. This is a ROMANCE story, the main couple needs to actually have a ROMANCE. Not a "we feel comfortable around each other". Thats one part of it, but it isn't enough by itself.
I thought you wouldn't do this again but is good to see a video of the quintuplets That's why I thought fuutarou have better chemistry with Ichika, Miku or Itsukilactus Ichika relationship Peak with the exams and Itsuki and Miku relationship with him Peak at Scrambled Eggs Arc but after everything was fucked up, Ichika well... Miku was so great for her own good and Itsuki became a plot device and was just a puppet
I absolutely disagree, Nino has a bunch of chemistry with Fuutarou have a BUNCH of chemistry. There is more than one kind of romantic chemistry. Also, she is simply someone who is assertive and open about her feelings, not "desperate". To add onto that, their moments are never forced, and she doesn't do what she thinks he likes, but what she wants to do which she hopes he likes. That can work, things in a relationship don't have to flow nicely from the start
Another banger video by Sylvanes By the way can you enable English auto-generated subs? Watching too much anime has degraded by audio comprehension abilities 😅
Thank you, and sorry, but there isn't an option like that. RUclips does it automatically, sometimes, which is a bit annoying. I don't know what triggers it, though. I can add subtitles manually but they never seem to be synced properly.

my problem whit futarou is that sometimes he dosen t feel like a person and i wrilly don t knoww why some of the quints tollerate the things he does early
am i the only one who genuinely never viewed Itsuki as a competitor for the bride past the first 10 or so chapters?? i finished the manga recently and i just never picked up on her loving Futaro???? (manga spoiler?? idk what was adapted in the movie) like there was the side tangent thing of her discussing with the cram school instructor about why she feels uneasy about her sister's feelings and it was implied it was jealousy but i thought it was simply fear of the quints' bonds being broken. maybe i didn't pick up on something but that's the only way i could see it, of you have another perspective on Itsuki's feelings please feel free to elaborate i would love to have a discussion
Do you even like this story? I swear you’ve torn one of my favorite stories so much that I don’t even know anymore. Your analysis videos are great though
I do xD I wouldn't have made 17 videos about the Quints if I didn't like the story. It's one of my favourites, and it'll definitely stay like that, but it has flaws, some pretty major ones, especially in the latter half of the story.
Haha, sometimes it becomes a bit of a love-hate relationship when it comes to stories that disappoint a reader. In fact, I'd say hate is too strong, because it's more the disappointment that lingers, even if I still liked the story. I imagine Sylvanes feels the same way.
Alot of fans were angry that they got to see yutsuba win because she didn't got her screen time or character development but if they had read the manga they would know why she was the best possible choice and the animator though that we should not include this stuff to keep the suspense and i was really angry that they didnt animate her pov story
