    I feel like his death kinda goes against the point of the manga. It claims to show the “dark side” of the industry, but never does anything with it. Nothing ever changes. Aqua feeling like he has to die too is so stupid, because like, no one should lose their career because of their family members.
    It’s like that saying like “if there is slavery in the story, and it isn’t abolished by the end of the story, then it isn’t a happy ending”. Nothing has changed, and Ruby is just engrossed further into lies. Which I’ve always took the star eyes, black or white, to be a bad thing. Because at some point you have to be honest with people around you. This isn’t victim blaming but I feel like Ai’s story would have played out differently if she was more honest, at least to the people she cares about.
    It just feels like nothing changed, so many people suffered and it was all kinda pointless. Aqua did some dumb shit and died, and the narrative doesn’t treat it with the condemnation it deserves.
    The narrative seemed to discourage Aqua’s self sacrifice and giving up on his life. And then he just does it, but no guys it’s ok it’s out of love not revenge.
    I feel like the narrative would be more powerful if he decided to not throw his life away even if he was a murderer. Because even if it hurts Ruby’s career, they both would rather have him alive. And then deal with the outfall of that. Ruby’s career suffers but she continues on because she loves what she does. She might not become as popular as Ai, but she’d still grow a meaningful fan base.People who care about her as an artist/person. And maybe that’d open up hope of change in the industry. Idols are human, and they are allowed to live like one. They are allowed to be messy. It would be unrealistic for the industry or culture to completely shift, but I think establishing some hope or progress would be more satisfying.
    Also the treatment of Kana is just nasty. Built them up the entire manga and never gets a resolution. I’m so sorry Kana, you deserved so much better.

    • @amirrashidan3047
      @amirrashidan3047 Месяц назад +6

      Yeah, like the scandal revolving around her forcing Aqua to use his connection to Ai to bury it. I would've preferred it if the story gave Kana to surpass this scandal by herself, or Aqua and co. helping her out without jeopardizing his hidden family relationship.

    How can people even trash on Kana who literally didn’t know the full scope of things. To her Aqua was just suddenly dead without any context.
    Akane mourning over him for reasons not involving her doesn’t make it any better.
    Aka spend so much time bringing together Kaguya and Shirogane, yet so much time keeping Aqua, Kana and Akane apart from each other.
    What did Oshi no ko taught even us?!

    • @SylvanesW
      @SylvanesW  Месяц назад +56

      Some people trash Kana precisely because she doesn't know the full scope of things :)). In hindsight, Kana makes little to no contribution to the plot, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it can make her feel disconnected, especially in contrast to Akane - who's always compared to Kana.
      And this is really jarring when you look at their individual involvement.
      Whenever Akane is on the page, she moves the plot forward. But when Kana is on the page, the story's focus always deviates.
      I think Kana's character started off very believable and easy to emphasize, but past the Tokyo Blade arc, she stagnates as a character. That's my problem with her.
      She has this internal conflict of "holding back" because of a lack of self-worth; she's hesitant to put herself in the spotlight, but Aqua always proves her wrong and helps her move forward...except she never does, for some reason.
      This is odd because she literally got Aqua's total support during her first idol concert, and she vouched to become Aqua's star, meaning that emotionally she got over her "holding back" issue. Then, during the Tokyo Blade arc, she finally got over her acting "holding back" issue.
      But come the next arc...and she starts this fiasco all over again. And again. And again. She goes through this cycle, literally the whole manga.
      It doesn't help that she has no agency and always needs Aqua to save her.
      So, really, I think if you take Kana out of the story, nothing really changes :))

    • @Atticus-Catnipp
      @Atticus-Catnipp Месяц назад +10

      @ but the story didn’t really reward either of them did it?!
      Akane falling for a guy only to have her heart broken and a somewhat resentful attitude that later became mother and child.
      Like what the hell? Both Akane and Kana didn’t have anything to do with Kamiki. Both just care about becoming famous actresses and that’s it. No matter how good of a detective Akane wants to play.
      This is just Aqua and Kamiki to the bitter end.

    • @SylvanesW
      @SylvanesW  Месяц назад +11

      @@Atticus-Catnipp Yes, I agree; the story didn't reward either in the end.
      Akane developed an obsession with Aqua, and even when it seemed she got over it, she still didn't.
      However, Akane was pivotal in discovering Kamiki. Without her, Aqua wouldn't have found his father's identity (although he should''ve but it is what it is).
      Akane's actions impacted the plot heavily, even though she became more of a tool after she and Aqua broke up.
      I mean, neither Kana nor Akane wins on a personal level, but as far as the plot goes, Akane's impact can be seen throughout the whole story.
      Of course, one may argue that Akane treaded into the "plot device" territory, and I wouldn't disagree with that, but she has enough balance to not make it blatant.

    • @HopelessEvenings
      @HopelessEvenings Месяц назад +4

      It’s because she didn’t know the scope of things. She slapped the corpse of a murder victim (to her knowledge) and her entire character arc is completely truncated in the end, I have no idea why she had such insane screentime if Aka was going to do this. At least Akane got a tragic romance ending and contributed a lot to the plot, Kana was horribly mismanaged.

      QQ had a divisive ending, which tbh isn't rare for a harem manga with a clear winning girl. Note that divisive isn't indicative of low quality.
      Whatever OnK's ending is, it's so casually irrespective of readers that emotionally invested in it. I can reread QQ and enjoy it for what it is knowing the outcome. Rereading OnK is a taste of witnessing a writer's passion quickly exhaust and turn into neglect, overwhelming any flavor the storylines carry. I find it almost impressive how uncaring Aka is of his creations.

    I also hate how he dumb down the characters.
    Like somehow, Aqua succeeded on Blaming Kamimi for his death even though his fingerprints is on the knife.
    Like you, also Have Akane, Who claims she was going to stop Aqua.
    What did she do? What was her plan?
    Like girl literally has alot of information. Aqua sits there and thanks her for finding a dead body. However, This doesn't concern her one bit? Like she never asked herself why Aqua wanted her to find the body. She already knew the guy wanted to murder someone. So shouldn't ring alarm bells?
    On top of that, Aqua took her to an abandoned house and gave her a bunch of information about this Gorou Amamiya guy and yet never questioned it.
    A simple google search about Gorou Amamiya. Could've given her the time of death. She could've find out about reincarnation.
    Because in Chapter 80, The bath scene she literally recalls how every moment feels connected. But i guess that panel was nothing too.
    Where are the consequences? Akane was delusional enough to think she was going to get away with killing Hikaru to "protect" him from Aqua.
    When Aqua stopped her, She realized his self destructive ways and decides to stop him. And then she regress back to the whole "i would've murder him for you."
    Like why didn't you do that when he broke up with you? Why do you need Aqua's word? Did you really not mean it when you said you were going stop him?
    Protect him from what? Hikaru never gave two shits about Aqua. Throughout the story.
    (Its times like these where i feel like Aqua needs critic not a supporter)
    Kana entire character arc, Should have been her wanting to become an actress. Since the whole reason why she wasn't doing good in acting was because she was giving the spot light to another character.
    She misunderstood the director's words and think giving the spotlight would make her a better actress. She also wants her mom approval.
    Kana's star power, was heavily relied on Aqua. She likes Aqua so she wanted to make Aqua look at her and be his star. This could've been solved, if Kana would just reunite with her mother, if she heard her mother's perspective. She could've used star power on her own.
    We introduced to Marianna, yet we are never told why Marianna wasn't there for her daughter. All that Gorou and Sarina bullshit could've solved, if Ruby just talked to Marina, See her perspective.
    But no the parents are one dimensional characters and very character is black and white.
    Like wouldn't be interesting if Gorou's backstory was elaborated on? Wouldn't it be interesting if Hikaru was actually Reincarnated? Or was actually a mastermind? It would've made up for all the mysterious bullshit. Or better yet had a connection with Aqua, by being his grandfather from his past life?
    He also did the same thing with Kaguya sama love is war ending.
    So much potential but shitty writer.

    I know at first glance it may SEEM like Aqua and Ruby accomplished their goals, but they Accomplished them in the most BULLSH!T WAY POSSIBLE!!! AAAAAAAND let’s be real, the Dialogue in this final arc was absolutely ATROCIOUS!!! And about that crow girl, can we ALL agree that her personality COMPLETELY takes a massive shift after the first half of the movie arc, because before she was pretty much a Bully to Aqua and Ruby, and she teased them every chance she got. But after we get the flashback of her interacting with Serena in the past she straight up becomes a Nice Girl out of nowhere. She then has the audacity to Glaze the Hell out of Aqua (INEXPLICABLY) and literally watch’s as his body fade into absolutely nothing!!!
    What was the point of all this? What was the point of spending 4 god damn years and making an anime about a 16 year old ldol mother who dies in front of her children and having one of her children die in the most LAUGHABLE way imaginable, and the other one be forever DOOMED to be just another carbon Copy of her mother, the one thing she said she’d never become!!! Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a literal stalker at that door Pointing a GUN at Ruby’s face while she has her head turned around. Another thing, even IF I go back to the 1st and 6th episode of the anime, i wouldn’t feel the least bit sad cause I don’t CARE anymore. And if we’re being honest, Akane should’ve died right then and there at the end of Ep 6, at least THEN Aka would’ve had something to SAY!!!
    Aka: Eh, just want to let ya’ll know that this stuff can actually happen in real life, so you Should probably, you know, not do it anymore. Thanks😊
    And I never actually watched or read the Tokyo Blade Arc in the anime or manga, but now I care about it even less now because WHATS THE DAMN POINT ANYMORE!!! And you can straight up count me out on continuing the anime. Cause who the hells gonna even care about Oshi No Ko by the time the anime gets a S3 and/or a S4 if THAT even happens!!! And even IF the anime changes the ending, it’s Already Too Late cause the damage has already been freaking done!!! All those animators and voice actors are just wasting their Blood Sweat and Tears for NOTHING now, and I just feel SAD for them right now!!! And now that his latest series got the Ax, Aka is now working on a Manga about and I Quote “a fairy-tale world, where princesses and princes are always guided by fate..." and apparently the artwork is being done by the guy who did Record of Ragnarok. But after this Atrocity of a Manga about Idols, I wouldn’t be surprised if that series gets Axed too, along with all of his Other future projects. Cause let’s be real, who the hell is gonna SUPPORT him after this!!!

    Things like this make me really temped to rewrite a fanfiction exploring all potentials that the story seeded but didnt nurture. Could be a more Ruby and kana focus version. Justice for my girls! ✊️(jk)
    I went to oshi no ko after have beeing a fan of " AKB49: Ren'ai Kinshi Jōrei " for while, drooped due being frutraded that the characters were too idealistic and not exploring the showbiz reality. Not it is necessary, how many high school storys totally ignore the heavy weight of academic performance ? And still makes a compeling story.
    Exploring the show biz, which I do work on, there is a lot of possible conflits that come from this line of work: imprevislbility, new challenges , competion, self worth, team work with new team every turn, godship, self improvement...
    adding the the ressurection + revenge plotline it could be a even longer or in deep story.
    I like in the beginning the fanfiction / webtoons flare of reincanation as a starting point. The autor could do , as many in this type of genere due, just trought out the supernatural aspects after if not going to use.
    Fraud / crow girl feels that only exist so can aqua can talk to someone about it. They could play up the role of tricster deity that is there just to Shake things up or take notes.

  • @kevinmac9442
    @kevinmac9442 Месяц назад +6

    Really well said! I'm just hoping that the bonus chapter does something to help improve the ending. Apparently the brackets used around the Oshi No Ko title on the books have an important meaning that hasn't been revealed yet (as mentioned in an interview) and I've heard that those brackets are generally used to reference a piece of media within a piece of media in Japanese (possibly meaning that Oshi No Ko is the name of something within this series). Either way, the writing was going downhill for awhile and I'm probably not going to buy any more Aka books after Oshi No Ko. Though It would be pretty wild if Aka intentionally put out an ending to make people mad, then put out a bonus chapter over a month later that changes the meaning of everything, but that's probably my copium that something redeemable will happen. My guess for the bonus chapter is that either Aqua recorded CDs for the characters to watch, "Oshi No Ko" is the name of a film the remaining characters will make, or something wild like the whole ending of the series actually being part of a movie and not what actually took place. The first color panel in Vol 1 shows Ruby and Aqua walking into a live broadcast that wasn't shown during the series, which some people are speculating that it may be a hint about what the final chapter may be since volume one has a lot of references to future events.

    • @kevinmac9442

      I'm back from the future. The bonus chapter was also trash and the "secret meaning" of the weird brackets in the title was that Mem's RUclips channel name was【OSHI NO KO】. Jokes on me for having expectations of clever writing or some sort of weird stunt in the last chapter.

    This ending f*cking sucks, but i will say that the message of Ruby suffering and becoming like Ai is that it's just the consequence of Aqua killing himself. Ruby was beginning to look up, live for herself and truly be happy, but in Aqua's suicide meant to "save" her because his life would be a burden, he dooms her to a life of suffering. Safe to say it's just a "suicide is never the option" type of message, which is nice, the problem is that there was literally no reason for Aqua to kill himself in the first place. It doesnt matter if the cake made of shit has some nice glazing and sprinkles on top, the cake itself is still sh*t.

    Ok heres some endings i have in mind :
    -the movie exposed kamiki and he got a life sentence and ruby is still safe
    -aqua confronted kamiki and having an argument about how kamiki now failed and finally realised ai really did love him, he then "off" himself in front of aqua, and idk maybe some panels of ai comforting kamiki in after life???
    -kamiki wont stop and too far gone, aqua then did what he do in the manga and somehow saved by akane/kana who followed him, kamiki died, and his past crimes finally got exposed
    Aqua walked free but this s*icidal plan almost ruined his relationship with kana, ruby and others, so he rebuild his relationship with everyone again aka happy ending dum dum
    -kamiki comes to his senses, not getting arrested but promised he wont touch ruby after everything got revealed in Ai's video, he then disappear somehow and never to be seen again (most unlikely ending)
    -kamiki confronted aqua who finally decided to want to live and be happy with ruby and everyone, in this confrontation kamiki mortally injured aqua but in the last moment he also k*ll kamiki like in the manga, in his final moment aqua apologizing to everyone that he cant see them grow, become more famous, become happier, or even apologise to kana that he wont be with her and grow old together, the lights go out then suddenly in after life ai showed up in front of him apologizing or other shid idk about how because of her he had to suffer and protect ruby like we finally get to see ai broke the character idk im not a good writer
    -ruby di*d by kamiki directly or indirectly like ai, aqua goes berserk and k*ll kamiki and himself in the process, if you wanna make a bad ending just go full ham on it then
    There are so many endings online written by fans that are better than aka's sh*tty vision ong

This series ended with nothing changing, whereas in my hero, we actually see the old lady saving a traumatized boy the same old lady that abandoned the main villain in the past is not helping I’m not making the same mistake, showing that our heroes had made a difference my hero did had problems in their final ending, but it was much better than this

Because remember idols are supposed to be untainted fans turn ugly like with their mom. The way the story as hold you can see him happy with k while he adores ruby we dont get that lingering affection that would suggest the only way too tie things up for ruby would include a world where he is dead. Ruby literally acknowledges he doesn't exactly know how deep her feelings are to know if those feelings are returned to the same degree of affection.

I gave you a second chance in life You are now surrounded by people that care about you you are more loved in this life then you were in your previous one do not throw all of that away, cherish your new life do not throw away your new life after telling this to Aqua, The crow girl disappears forever hours later Aqua and Kana are talking with each other then Aqua asked kana on a Christmas date Kana is of Cours shocked after hearing this but she accepts it then, finally on Christmas Eve, Aqua and Kana go on their Christmas date they both have a good time together by the end of the date Kana confesses her feelings to Aqua she tells aqua she loves him then Aqua suddenly kisses Kana then they both start dating they tell everybody the good news that him and Kana are now dating and aqua tells Ruby that they cannot be together in this life because they are now siblings. Yeah my issue is with the execution and writing, as well. It was like Akasaka hated the series & thats when the writing started to drop off around chapter 130 and then after 143 it turned into a complete mess.
    There was no use for the crow girl she was there for no reason.
    Crow girl could have been replaced by Ai talking to Aqua while he died.
    If he wanted to make the crow girl useful, he could have had her go talk to Ruby so that she might have had some closure, if he wanted to make her even a bit useful.
    The way they showed Aqua's suffering and regretting was also useless.
    Did NOTHING, at all, narrativly.
    He said in an interview that he wanted to be a writer rather than a mangaka and his writing ability is non just crap if he sees nothing wrong with this execution.
    I don't know what editors he was working with, were on to ok this cr@p.
    I don't care that it had a sad ending, some stories NEED sad endings.... but show some fr!gg€n hope SOMEWHERE man!
    People defending it seem to think we're all upset because its a sad ending.
    Not everyone is upset with that. His writing turned to s#!t after chapter 120, further worstened by 132 then completely dropped off a cliff after he got the incest teasing out of his system by chapter 143/144. The execution of the second half of this was god aweful.

    I was expecting a much longer death note style plot around Hikaru. They kinda just introduce this Macguffin with AI’s tapes that made the whole mystery around hikaru irrelevant. Hikaru was casually murdering actresses so the fact he was so casually exposed is kind of ridiculous. He seemed way more careful than that and the story just makes him look like a bit of an idiot as a primary antagonist.
    I still think aqua had to die to avoid wincest but the way he died was also just ridiculously stupid. His dad should’ve killed him and him killing himself just kinda defeats the purpose of the story while also just being nonsensical. The police can obviously tell if someone stabs themselves vs if someone stabs them. Aquas sacrifice would’ve literally been for nothing and the police could absolutely identify that and as a doctor that should be obvious to aqua.
    No delivery on the reincarnation.
    Crow girl was never explained. Kana never gets a resolution.
    Kamaki was reduced to being pathetic. And ai in her videos made her stupid. Absolute trash.

    It was doomed to a bad ending from the beginning. Oshi no Ko is part of a wider isekai-verse (4096). The moment they lost Ai is the moment they lost in this particular timeline, or Ai was already too far gone, but the important part is information gathering and teaching for the characters to pass on to the next worlds.
    Check the thing with focusing on left/right eyes. I think it's a yes/no system or a show of truth/lie and the other isekai series use it too. None have explained for sure what it means though so it's just guessing for now.

  • @TheRecraftMan
    @TheRecraftMan 27 дней назад

    I'm going to be the devils advocate and disagree. Feel free to point out any flaws in my reasoning.
    I find that the ending is quite in line with basically every character in this story. I've read in the comments and in other places as well that the manga was about displaying the ugly side of the entertainment business but that it didin't do anything with it. I personally feel like this is actually quite accurate. Considering how dark the anime is, it would have felt out of place if they actually managed to make a lasting impact on the industry and at the same time it didn't seem to be the main aspiration of any of the characters, more a "nice thing to have". It seemed like everyone accepted how cruel and f-ed up the entertainment industry is.
    Now, regarding the ending and Aquas death, you've explained in your video that suicide was a bad option because it doesn't make sense. I think it absolutely does. Aqua as always thought a few steps ahead and he KNEW that there is a good possibility that Kamiki wouldn't stop, especially since during their conversation Kamiki put up another facade that Aqua was able to see through. He couldn't just kill Kamiki because being found out would ruin Rubys reputation. He didn't want to die, that was explained clearly in the manga, but he did not want to take any chances. Now, here's where Aquas "stupid" side comes in. The character has always been flawed and had a warped understanding of how people see him, it was never his strong suit. We as the reader know that Ruby would rather have Aqua around but Aqua has decided that the risk is too high. A flawed character does not make a flawed story, it gives depth and creates opportunites for conflict and emotion. This flawed side of his personality has been depicted multiple times in the manga. I personally couldn't think of other immediate solutions to his problem considering how narrow minded his goal was. He had to dispose of Kamiki quickly to minimize risk on Ruby and he couldn't have the murder connected to her through him. Kamiki did not kill any of the characters close to Aqua. He was also a minor at the time of Ai's death. He couldn't do anything about him on a legal level. This was also explained in the manga.
    In the end most of the characters ended up with quite a sad ending. Basically none of them got what they wanted and as much as my heart wanted a good ending... it fits. The industry is fucked up. Everyone is flawed. This is a bad ending, but in my opinion a well made one.

    « Seriously, what was the point of ONK? » I think that's the right question, right there. I was so disappointed with the ending too. Aka fumbled so badly, as I was reading the last chapters I had the same reaction as you "didn't his editor told him it sucks??", I'm sorry for wording it so harshly but there's no other way 😭 There are countless plot holes, no coherent character development, and the manga ends up endorsing the very things that were denounced (rightfully so) at the start... I mean, Ruby's doesn't have to be anyone's light. She's just a normal, broken teen. Like Ai, remember? That's the conclusion Ruby herself reached when playing Ai's role in the movie! We will never know if it's the "right" interpretation, but it's perhaps the most important one. What's crystal clear is that she doesn't have to play the flawless star, when this very myth broke Aqua, broke Ai, broke her and her relatives, and most importantly, it's unsettling in a gross way. Ruby sounds like a cult leader and her fans sound like they're part of sect, they're expecting Ruby to give a meaning to their own life, and her traumas have only one purpose, to "feed" the public, to shape her mediatic cult-like persona. At least Ai was aware, she had this critical look on the whole system, while Ruby became a puppet.
    This and glorifying Aqua's suicide as the solution is just gross; you criticized Kana in your video, that's the only point where I disagree with you. Unlike Akane, she was excluded of the revenge plot, true, but despite that she noticed Aqua was on a self-destructive path and tried to stop him (even Aqua was grateful). Ruby, Ichigo, Miyako ignored the obvious death flags but Kana didn't! And at Aqua's funerals she was the only one to step up and refuse the "Aqua-died-a-hero-now-shut-up" narrative. Because she knew Aqua died on purpose, and for meaningless, incoherent ideals as you pointed in your video (I could go on and one about that too..) while everyone else was too busy whining when they could have stopped that so that it could have been avoided. But that's due to Aka's poor writing on the last arc.
    Again I know I'm harsh but it just doesn't sit right with me, neither the writing nor the subtext. The subtext is sickening, probably a consequence of the bad writing but man... also, I don't think Kamiki was unredeemable. He became so because Aka felt the need to rush the ending but he was definitely not: he killed Yura with his own hands (he didn't tricked people into killing her, he murdered her, we saw it previously, unlike Aka made the characters say) and made people suffer psychologically on repeat. He should have faced proper punishment, so that what he did could be repaired (somewhat) and eventually lead him to genuinely atone. That was Ai's wish- what was Aqua's right to throw it away for Ruby's sake when really it was way healthier than everything him and twisted Ruby could think of? Besides, by going of the atonement path, Ruby could have been safe too. It was literally showed how she was saved and protected by Akane and Ichigo! I used to like Ruby, but her growth was miserable, if there was any. Akane and Kana are the only characters who stayed about true to their previous developments. There's a lot more to say' but I'm going to leave it at that. Good video tho!

    In my opinion…and from perspective…I feel like the author gave up at the end in a sense. Like it felt like forget about the reasons for reincarnation to give second chances and just came up with an ending to end it. It feels like it was rushed and the pacing of it all was rushed and a lot of things were still not finished. Like I’ve read mangas where the creator or author gives up and ends it in a way that makes people confused or sad or frustrated. I feel like it had to be the latter of the author want to end this manga and just no longer passionate about it. That’s just the vibes it gave me. Which it’s like at this point, why put aqua saying HE WANTS TO LIVE AS HE DIES What was the point of giving hope that he lives and gave him another chance at life just for revenge?! Like make it make sense. It was too many things that could’ve been better for the ending. COULDVE been better to wrap everything all together in a nice bow where it would have more positive than negative views on it. Cause I feel that’s what it feels like at this point.

      I can give a reason by comparing him to Lelouch. In Code Geass, Lelouch, to begin with, had two conflicting goals: to seek revenge for his mother and to create a world where his sister Nunnally, who was crippled as a result of being caught in the crossfire, could live in peace. Lelouch, at all points in time, courted death and was ready to die. Aqua was never ready to die. He was just trying to make sense of his circumstances. Even revenge was, to him, more a reason to move beyond AI’s death than a desire to court death. The mangaka clearly didn’t know what vengeance is. It would’ve made more sense for Aqua to realize the futility of vengeance and look to a better life. With Lelouch, there wasn’t a better way. Not after all the blood he shed and all the people he dragged into his mess. With Aqua, it’s a tragedy that renders the whole purpose of his life meaningless. As silly as the series is in hindsight, I 100% agree that Aqua got a raw deal.

      Lelouch once said, those who yield a weapon to kill others must also prepare to die themselves. Code Geass is way beyond revenge tho.
      But Oshi no ko seems it was supposed to be a revenge story throughout the whole series. Also Aqua realizing what he truly wants to do in life after spending more time with his family and friends. MF got all that time to think about his life only to kill himself in the end. There are so many other routes he could've taken. You're right. Aka doesn't know what the concept of vengeance is. Atleast in this particular case.
      This shit should've ended with Kamiki dying on the rooftop whether it be by the hands of aqua or himself.

    whether it's rushed or not, you have to understand that this ending actually correlates with what the main message of the whole manga is. From the beginning we could tell that the theme is about the idol industry, how it might seem cutesy on the outside but on the inside it's disgusting. in the ending, it wasn't "oh, aqua died, next". No, it's "Oh, aqua died, i have to keep up my act so that the fans will continue to like me". yes, the ending might be rushed, but it still correlates to the theme at the end of the day. the bad ending was necessary.

      It was uninteresting to see nothing change but I do appreciate the realistic approach and story staying faithful to the theme. 👍 In the end, one must sometimes lie to be appreciated, especially by the large public who overreacts to every little thing a celebrity says or does. Ruby tried to be authentic and different from her mother, but after losing Aqua again she ended up realizing that she must accept the reality she lives in.
      It wasn’t a bad ending if Ruby ended this way… I just feel the execution was too rushed is all, like what made Ruby suddenly give up on her dream to be an innocent authentic idol? What made her move on from Aqua? Why did she still want to be an idol after performing at the dome and losing Aqua?

    Even tho attack on Titan ending is thousand times better than this shit. It is one of the most stupid and worst ending in any anime like come on Aqua has many ways to prove hikaru as culprit or there are other ways to kill him but that fool kill himself and doing sacrifice for what reason ?? Ruby will also ended like her mother just like history repeats itself 🙄😮‍💨😤😤. If they want to give rush ending so the ending could be more simple

    Kana is supposed to be a very well written character. Her obsession with Aqua just ruined it so bad. She had so potential for development but Aka ended up just making her obsess over Aqua.

    I don't understand why a story needs to have a point to be enjoyable and how can an ending ruin the entire story for some people, like if you enjoyed the first half of the story, it still haven't changed, it's still good. Oshi no ko for me was always a melodrama that explores characters, their feelings and how they deal with trauma. It was never some sort of adventure with a destination in mind. I don't typically watch melodramas because it's usually about some boring domestic routine stuff witch is redundant cus it's just life. But Oshi no ko was different for me, it talks about human connection in a way that could be understood by someone who struggles with it. I'm a big fan and for me the writing stayed consistent from beginning to the end. The crow girl clearly didn't reincarnate the twins for some greater porpoise, she simply liked them. Ruby in the ending isn't just eternally depressed for life now, like some people think(?), she's just grieving, it's about how even in our darkest moments there's always a call, a drive that makes as move forward towards the future, where Ruby still want's to bring joy to other people, even when in despair, convincingly lying to the audience by hiding all the pain she's in, since entertainment industry is the industry that sells lies, and those lies can affect someone's life and safe them, the same way Ai's lies saved Sarina. And the memories of her loved ones is what gives her this hope, since they are always with her in her heart. Aqua's plan makes sense if you consider how he never really lived for himself and his reason to live always involved living for the sake of someone else. So when confronted with the decision to kill Kamiki, he thinks it's better to die and hurt everyone he loves but also let them be free from all the turmoil for them to live their lives, rather than survive and still hurt others by going to prison, dragging them down with him for as long as he lives. It is obviously, objectively a stupid idea and a bad plan, but it makes perfect sense from the POV of his character. And I fail to see how him being murdered by Kamiki would make it more tragic, it's the fact that he commits to this decision himself what makes it so bittersweet. I'm too lazy to address every aspect of the ending that people disliked but I liked, I think the readers missed out on a lot of nuance of the story

      The legacy. Many animes, mangas, shows, cartoons and games will be rememberedd in the future by how they handled the end of their journey. And if there is a thing that hurts people is to feel that their time and investment in a work was all for nothing.
      And no it doesnt mean that the ending has to be necessarily happy. I mean Shakespeare wrote tragedies and they are still respected to this day. I think the point is that the ending has to make sense and there needs to be the right buildup, cause otherwise if everything was too meaningless, why encouraging to follow the next works from an author who was disilusioned, or threw a temper tantrum, and all of that for an ending that left a bad taste? Not a bitter taste, but a bad one.
